Cowboys: Owens not upset with Romo, calls out Keyshawn

09/30/08 09:58 PM

THE NEWS

Cowboys wideout Terrell Owens says he is not upset with quarterback Tony Romo, and never had a conversation with his quarterback about getting him the ball more, even though that is what he wants, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. All I have said is I need more opportunities to help this team win, Owens said.

Our View

Owens also called out former NFL wide receiver and current ESPN analyst Keyshawn Johnson - who was critical of him for saying he wanted the ball more often - calling him "Sheshawn" and saying, "[As the No. 1 overall pick in the 1996 draft] he is the ultimate underachiever on that panel. I am the reason he is in the booth. Everybody is aware when I was brought to Dallas he was the one they let go to get me here.

Keyshawn, you were overrated coming out of college, a cancer with the Jets, overrated again in Tampa where your season was terminated by your coach. I cant believe you have a job at ESPN. T.O. Gets it right. "Key" has worn thin on me over the last two months with his endless loads of crap about who is who and what is what in the NFL.

MeShawn was one of the bigest headcases in the NFL.

MeShawn/SheShawn=TO minus the talent

He has worn thin for me, I can't stand listening to him

ESPN is jumping the shark real quick.

Come on guys, it's just not meshawn critcizing T.O.'s remarks. It's all of them!

T.O HAS A HEAD PROBLEM. His remarks after the game were non scense! They targeted him 18 times plus gave him 2 running plays. I saw 4 straight incomplete plays to him at one point when Dallas was trying to come back! Dallas gave up the running game just to try and get T.O in on every play! Most were failures!

And after what I saw T.O. stand there and say in his sunglasses after the game was a complete Joke! It was so far out of content I couldn;t beleive he said it. He was the number one reason they lost that game!

MESHAWN , as did every other analyst I've seen got this one right!

I think T.O is depressed again or something. Someone better keep there eye on him

this week!

Key has always been jealous of TO and takes a shot at him whenever he can. If key isn't the pot calling the kettle black I don't know what is....

TO said the same things about Keyshawn when he first arrived in Dallas. Keyshawn used to be critical of TO when he was butting heads with Parcells and TO would always say Keyshawn was a bust and was just jealous that TO took his job in Dallas. Ironic that Keyshawn would criticize TO for wanting the ball more when he wrote a book called "Just Throw Me The Damn Ball" and got suspended in Tampa for whining when he wasn't thrown enough passes.

So basically TO is angry because Key commented on taking plays off and lame route running, with video evidence. I don't remember Key ever doing this. Always a competitor from what I remember. F TO.

I think Keyshawn and TO should be locked in a room together so they can settle their differences out of the public eye. For like 20 years or so.

TO is ten times the competitor Keyshawn was

There is nothing wrong with TO statements. Just read it for what it is and not what you or ESPN thinks it should mean. He just wants the ball period, and majority consider him a top 5 wrs in fantasy. So if he get the ball he is capable of taking it to the house. TO explained how defenses are taking him out of Tony Romo reads during passing plays. He didn't say "Romo suck or he can't handle pressures" like he did to his other QBs in years pass. I'm not a TO fan, but this is a classic case of over-reacting and needs to stop.

OK T-O is a weird guy for sure I am not defending that. He says whatever is in his head and has a tremendous amount of confidence in his ability. Classic does not think before he speaks type of person. To say he was the #1 reason that Dallas loss is just wrong. The defense could not stop the run of the Skins and get the offense back on the field thus shortening the game and giving Dallas a limited amount of chances. This defense is better then they have played this season. It is the problem the only problem Dallas has right now. A lot of the way this game played out is why Dallas did not run the ball as much as they should and thus all the passing and 18 targets for TO. There is nothing at all wrong with trying to get the ball in the hand of a top 3 wr talent. If they did not they would be plain stupid. Stop with the TO nonsense cause there will not be another TO gate. It was that way in Philly cause MCnabb has a big ego as well and likes to be looked at as the man as much as T-O does. MCNABB JUST HAS A EDIT BUTTON ON HIS MOUTH before speaking to the media. BELIEVE THAT!! Romo does not have that type of ego and there for will not clash with T-O.

keyshawn has a big mouth - remember his "Wayne Chrbet is a flashlight while I am a star" crap - then Wayne goes out and makes a TD catch to beat TB.

I would take a team full of Wayne Chrbet flashlights over Key - Wayne squeezed every inch of talent out of his body while Key moped, complained and waffled through his career - complete underachiever - he could have been much better.

How he has a job at ESPN is an example of everything thats wrong with sports....

Ironic that Keyshawn would criticize TO for wanting the ball more when he wrote a book called "Just Throw Me The Damn Ball" and got suspended in Tampa for whining when he wasn't thrown enough passes.
This was the obvious shot for TO to take instead of the 5th grader 'Sheshawn' weak sauce.

Keyshawn has a ring and was a big part of the team that earned it. Owens has excuses.
Consider the source...Sheshawn was the only note-worthy player to ever be fired in mid-season...not released, not cut, just told not to come around anymore...by the team thru which he was supposedly such a big part of taking to the championship--you're nucking futs. She thinks she's better than she is and couldn't carry TO's morning androsteine.TO's a headache, but until he gets on national TV and comments about another headache then I'm in TO's corner on this one...admit yourself to be no more than a hater and move on from this one...

Then you must misremember...badly.

People are getting on Keyshawn, he was a productive WR during him time, better college WR than pro, but he didn't pull a mike williams... When you look at worst #1 overall picks, you aren't talking Sheshawn...

on the other hand, he is the posterboy for why the WR position is now a joke in the NFL

In Keyshawn was smart, he'd stop being the critical one on most receivers like T.O, Chad Johnson and other receivers he's going to eventually attack. These receivers have way too much ammo to go back at him with. Keyshawn was an overpriced, overrated #2 receiver. I remember when he was on the Jets and Wayne Chrebet started to emerge, he wouldn't speak to Wayne and had it out with him in the locker room once or twice. Keyshawn did all these things that cancerous WR's do except score touchdowns.

I have no problem with receivers who want to be thrown to more IF HIS TEAM IS LOSING. If his team is winning and he is not getting the ball as much he thinks he should, we have a problem. The trouble with TO is that he first whines about not getting the ball whether his team is winning or not. Then he goes to the stage that the QB is not putting the ball in the right position for him to make the reception. This is what he's doing now. It's his way of justifying his drops. It's always the QB's fault or the coaches fault. And then finally, he starts attacking the QB's and coaches personally, as he did with Garcia and McNabb. It won't be long before he is doing the same with Romo. Beware Cowboy fans it won't be long before you'll be in the same fix that Philly was in.

Keyshawn Johnson was absolutely, positively the wrong person to be criticizing TO. He's a tool who should never have been given his job.....but he was still spot on with what he said.

Yes, it really is the pot calling the kettle black. Exposes the pot as a hypocritical tool, but it doesn't make the specific criticism innacurate!

A lot of good posts here.....

It turns my stomach everytime Keyshawn runs his mouth about Owens ... and ESPN loves it because it makes news and stirs the pot .. but ESPN should put and end to Keyshawn attacks because he clearly has a bias towards TO.

Reading this thread I am glad I am not the only one who thinks Keyshawn is being an idiot.

Does Keyshawn really think we all forgot what kind of moron he was and the circumstances when he left Dallas ..????????

i stopped watching espn when they let rush go for telling it like it is about mcnabb....
DARN :goodposting: Couldn't agree more. With regard to the topic at hand. They're both idiots. And TO, while being a big target in a great offense, drops a LOT of balls.

Terrell Owens was shut down completely: his grievance, his time with the Philadelphia Eagles, his season. For conduct proven to be a "destructive and continuing threat" to his team, an arbitrator ruled Wednesday that the Eagles were justified in suspending their All-Pro receiver for four games — and are within their rights to deactivate him for the rest of the year.....

Owens was suspended Nov. 5 after he again criticized quarterback Donovan McNabb, called the organization "classless" and fought with former teammate Hugh Douglas. Two days later, the Eagles extended the suspension to four games and told Owens not to return.

I wish they would both shut up.

[slightly off course from the original topic -- didn't want to start a new Key thread]

Why does Keyshawn always seem so ANGRY? Every time he's on TV, he looks pissed off.

If he really wants to replace Kornholer on MNF, he'd better perk up his disposition a whole lot.

Wants to be thought of as an elite WR, when in fact he was just pretty good for a relatively short period of time.Rice>>Carter>>>>>Jimmy Smith>>>Keyshaun Johnson

Steve Young got a good shot in on Johnson last night on the pre-game MNF show. They were showing some shot of Johnson as a Panther going over to the sideline and whooping it up in front of Young, who was on the sideline as part of the press, I think, presumably after having scored a TD. When they went back to Young and Johnson on the split screen in current time, Young commented that Keyshawn was probably excited at the time after having scored his usual one touchdown a year. :blackdot:
