Lots of hardwork done to bring this is a reality. Atop that list is Doug Drinen who continues to show the world how skilled he is with database programming. Aaron Rudnicki will be running this website and he has tireless entered the 600+ items in the database now.

Feel free to kick the tires.

There is some mastery going on behind the scenes with this thing too. Lots of the categories are actually dynamic. let's say 10 sites all do a piece about Calvin Johnson today. Then he becomes relevant and likely will be a header, etc. Topics like Dynasty are hot now while sleepers might be in August.

Check out the search capability to. The logic behind it will be on the FBG site soon as well. You can search by player, author, site, topic, etc. Like I said this is Google for fantasy football. It looks like we jumped the gun by about a day in releasing this. We'll get the links turned on, and some of the other pieces we know are still missing very shortly here.

Can we start submitting our emails for the daily newsletter now?

(also "get all the lastest fantasy links..." should be "get all the latest fantasy links..." in that box)

Wow! So much information here, I can't imagine how much time this will save me from bouncing from site to site looking for more and more info. Then again, I'll probably be spending a lot more time reading, just more efficiently

Very cool stuff here FB Guys!

Yes this works now. We still have some hurdles to be able to mail the newsletter, but we are building the list now. This newsletter will also be part of FBG Mobile 1.1 (which we are finishing up in days here)

It looks great. I can tell that will become one of my most visited sites soon enough. A few of the tabs at the top aren't working, but other than that everything seemed fully functioning. I love the search feature. Great job guys

It used to be that March Madness was accountable for millions of dollars in lost work time; FBG's is about to set a new standard!!

Very cool. Since Draft Dominator shows up at the top of the page, do you think perhaps somebody at FBG's could refer to this thread? :hey:

Wow :hey: This might be my new #1 bookmarked fantasy site.

Is there anyway to download the fantasy buzz podcast so I can listen to it in my car?

This thing really is sweet. And I as type this I am playing around with FBG Mobile 1.1 which is also off the hook. Some sites have not even opened up yet and we are in full grind mode here.

Very cool stuff. One question I have, when doing a player search is it possible to organize the stories by the date they were published?

Separating the men from the boys x 100. The live version is even better than I expected. Great innovation! The links to the player pages and stats adds to the awesomeness of this site. Putting this on the FBG Mobile 1.1 will be the icing on the cake.

Great, great work.Amazing new tool. 100% information overload. I love it.
Yes and it's just June right now. This is why we wanted to create this website. In August there will be 150-200 things released every day. It's absolutely impossible to spend time digging for all of that. But now if I want to research something about the Buffalo backs, that info is at my fingertips. And when we have all four major sports on the site, it should be the fantasy destination for every fantasy player. We will be showcasing this site at the FSTA conference in Chicago on Wednesday. We expect people to like it.

I've only been loading articles to this database for the past week or two and we're already up to ~700 pieces of fantasy content. Crazy that it's only early June and there's this much stuff available already.

Aaron is your go to guy here. He will be the manager of Today in Fantasy for us. Like all good managers though we are making sure he gets his hands dirty and knows how to do everything before we give him the help he is going to need. This site really makes me proud of the team we have assembled. This went from concept in March to a fully functioning site in early June. As Joe always says, we are just getting started here...

I found this seriously funny link down the list on the Links Tab...... :goodposting: Good stuff!!

BTW, that is the most impressive list of links I've ever seen.......

Thanks for the hard work Aaron. I was thinking the same thing, it's crazy how much info that's out there and it's only June. Wait till preseason hits and early NFL season, talk about information overload. To the poster who was worried about league mates finding out about the site, there's so much information on that site, you'll find contradicting opinions on just about everything. You wants sleepers, you'll find tons of lists. You wants busts, you'll find guys names that may be have just been on another's sleeper list. It still goes down to who's opinion do you trust the most when gathering information and making your informed opinion. This will be a great tool to use for anything football related.

Use advanced search and you can do that
Is there a way you could show the date posted (or how long ago the article was posted) in the title of the search result? Say a player got hurt yesterday & I run a search on him today. It would be useful when looking at the search results to know which articles were posted before he got hurt and which after. Also, the links page needs a bit of tweaking as it's hard to see the breaks from one team to another.Anyway, looks great & is already bookmarked for me. Nice touch having FBGs linked near the top of each grouping too. I'm sure that's coincidence :goodposting: Does this change the way FBGs itself disperses information? I'm thinking of Joe's e-mails specifically - will they continue?

Wow guys, this looks like it could be one heck of a tool for fantasy owners everywhere. Another step in the right direction by FBG! :goodposting:

Joe sends out a daily email about the news and what is happening at FBG. Those will continue and are extended through the entire season. This site will send out a daily email about the content created on this day for the entire web.

These are mutually exclusive events. Plus each list is managed completely separately.

I'm fairly new to building database driven automated websites but I'm guessing you're not going to be able to pull content manually once the hype season is a upon us, just from the sheer volume of it. Or by loading do you mean setting up the rss feed aggregator? Either way, nice job! I've got a couple wordpress plugins that do something similar, if you want to have a look at the code and see how much is applicable streamlining your process, let me know, they're all written in php.

That is incredible! :lmao:

Who is keeping up with the site & how much work is it to sort & link to all that stuff? :)

You're just doing that for free for anyone who comes by it? I noticed it doesn't have any FBG branding either? Is it a partnership between you and the sites/articles you link to? Do they pay you to link to them? I'm very confused by this... but in a really good "I can't believe all this is on one page!" way.

Just took this out for a test spin and advanced searched for Leon Washington by date. 7 articles referencing him on 6/3 alone! Very impressive. I think this has the potential to save die hard fantasy players hours upon hours of research time.

DD, let's get together sometime early next week if your schedule permits so I can ask a few questions and post this news on FPA's blog.

WOW !!! Info overload.....

Don't tell anybody okay ?? I need to win my leagues this year

I can think of two FF websites that TIF just killed some of their web traffic...What a great search tool !!

It's like Christmas this weekend...Keep it coming !!

Thanks Kev

At one point, CBS's projections were on the main page as one of the two listed there. When I clicked the link to get other projections, CBS's were nowhere to be found in that list or at the articles at the bottom. Is there a way to get just the projections links, for example, all on one page?

I don't see CBS there right now, but input "projections" into the search field and you get this. Projections, rankings and other articles with a stat focus.ETA: CBS is listed in the middle of the second column, dated 5/27.

We are very close to signing an ad deal here to support this. We are just combing over the language now. We also will be selling ads for the email that gets mailed daily. This site will turn a profit this year.As for the sorting, the database does all of that automatically after we tag the article. We have built our version of Google's Page Rank that looks at date released, players and terms tagged and how impactful we think the data is to the fantasy world. There is effort in tagging, but we also have built some really cool tools to help significantly with locating all the players, etc. But we add a human touch (with the descriptions) and crossing out players that are casually mention (ie a line like: He is similar to Randy Moss, but... should not be tagged to Randy Moss). Suffice it to say there is a lot going on behind the scenes here to give you the results we were looking for. But at the end of the day, we all just want perfect search results right?

Awesome stuff guys, truly great idea for a site. I'll use this a ton.

Also love that the design is centered around the content! Very easy/intuitive navigation.

Loads of IE6/7 bugs - but I realize it's still in beta.

I've only got one big gripe with the site - I'd ask your designer if the cufon font replacement is really necessary. It just slows things down and the Roadway font is awful to read at the small size used for all the article headings. Legibility should be the priority on such a content-based site.

Hi ebc,Yes, it's free to everyone. It'll be supported by ad revenue. It's an interesting thing for us as we're obviously pretty well versed in the pay subscription model. We want to work with this free to everyone / ad revenue model and see how this goes. There is no partnership with any other site. The site is owned by us. There will obviously be a significant Footballguys presence on as we link to the articles we thing are worthy of being called out. Hopefully, FBG will continue to produce quality content worthy of being called out. But it's essentially independent in how it operates from FBG.J

So much information. There needs to be a way of filtering out the good content from the bad. It would be useful if you provided a means for users to evaluate content (i.e. thumbs up/thumbs down, 5 star rating system, etc) so that the better content can bubble up to the top of the list and all of the crud gets sent to the bottom.
this is being done now to some degree. I rank content based on quality and how useful I think it would be, but there are also automated sorting techniques in place that should help keep the good stuff front and center.

You can also type 'cbs' into the search box and a link will pop right up for you. Click it to see all the CBSsports.com content.

Start typing the name (first or last) of any player, author, or site, and it'll probably "know" what you're looking for. Type 'fab' and you'll be reading Michael Fabiano's columns in no time.

Lots and lots of keywords are in there too: projections, rankings, podcasts, rb, seahawks, ne, humor, stats, history, rbbc, sleeper, bust, adp. Tons more.

Agreed and this is being done now essentially behind the scenes based on value Aaron assigns and also by how many times items are clicked on and such. Much of the site is dynamically driven this way. There's a ton going on that isn't visible. We'll have the viewer ratings on a "think about it but no commitment" list but I've got mixed feelings on how effective that really is for keeping what we feel is the best content out front.J
