Pretty much anything free can be added. Let me know if there's anything specific missing. I'll take a look at the above site.Has this been talked about or considered?Yes. Could that be incorporated?Needs to include the fantasysportschannel sites as well

I was tracking Fantasy Depth Chart already but I'll start adding links from the others. Thanks. Also, just to provide an update: We've been logging content for a couple weeks or so now and already have nearly 800 entries in our database from nearly 60 different websites. Things are definitely picking up as 150 of those items were POSTED in the past 3 days alone.Among the ~800 items entered so far, over 150 are from Footballguys so that's probably why our stuff will tend to show up quite a bit in searches.rookieblitz.com, ffreport.com, rookiedraft.com, fantasydc.com are a part of thatPretty much anything free can be added. this is true. that stuff is fantasy relevant, but it's also relevant to non-fantasy players who follow the NFL and more of a news item. there are already plenty of places to find news updates pretty easily out there, including FBG, so we're not trying to duplicate those efforts. at TIF, we're mostly trying to collect fantasy advice like rankings, projections, sleepers, draft tools, etc. The articles, podcasts, blog posts, and other things that relate specifically to fantasy football. Sometimes there are some news items that overlap, but that's not our focus.EDIT TO ADD: Also, if you go to Vincent Jackson's player page, you'll see a strip of links in the middle/right of the page. The top ones are for news links related to that player, from FBG, KFFL, Rotoworld, and Yahoo. So, this does offer an easy way to find news related to the player, along with the best fantasy-specific content along the left and bottom.I like the site. Kudos to everyone involved.
However, I must say that describing it as "Google for fantasy football" seems a bit over the top. At least for me, that makes me think that I should be able to get the latest fantasy relevant news on a player at the site, but that isn't the case. For example, if I use Google to search for Vincent Jackson, I find articles from today commenting on his contract situation, which could result in a holdout into the season... IMO pretty fantasy relevant. If I search for Vincent Jackson at Today in Fantasy, I get none of those articles and nothing since 5/31.
This sounds like a complaint, but it's not. I'm just saying that the news element seems to be lacking from a site characterized as "Google for fantasy football". If you intend to later incorporate news, then perhaps that description is more valid.
Personally, I think FBG content is superior to everything else out there, so I am perhaps not as excited as everyone else about pulling together other content when I already have FBG. But I will certainly use the site for a while to see if it changes my mind.
OK, thanks for the reply. I guess I was thrown off because the first article shown for Vincent Jackson is a PFW article about the Chargers needing to sign Jackson and McNeill to long term contracts... exactly the type of fantasy relevant real NFL news that I was referring to earlier, that comes up in a Google search (and no doubt on the news feed at FBG, Rotoworld, etc.). But that article on the FIT page is from 5/31, whereas there are numerous other related articles since then that come up on those other sources.Bottom line is that FIT is not a site for the latest NFL news that bears on fantasy. That's not what I expected based on the early descriptions, but it's still a useful resource.Aaron Rudnicki said:this is true. that stuff is fantasy relevant, but it's also relevant to non-fantasy players who follow the NFL and more of a news item. there are already plenty of places to find news updates pretty easily out there, including FBG, so we're not trying to duplicate those efforts. at TIF, we're mostly trying to collect fantasy advice like rankings, projections, sleepers, draft tools, etc. The articles, podcasts, blog posts, and other things that relate specifically to fantasy football. yeah, some of the PFW stuff in particular is less fantasy-specific but still usually pretty helpful for fantasy owners, IMO. we're still refining the types of content we want to log here and what not to, but since we're pretty early in the fantasy football pre-season, I've been trying to cast a wider net.Google news and the other sources are great for finding the latest news on a topic, but it's tough to sort out what the fantasy community thinks about a player or situation. Obviously, FBG provides a lot of this information so if you subscribe here, you should be covered. We're trying to fill in the gap for people who want to see what else is out there, and also highlight the great free content that is readily available. Eventually, we hope to expand to the other sports as well so we can be a one-stop portal for all types of free fantasy advice and information.OK, thanks for the reply. lol at the bolded.Just took this out for a test spin and advanced searched for Leon Washington by date. 7 articles referencing him on 6/3 alone! Very impressive. I think this has the potential to save die hard fantasy players hours upon hours of research time.
DD, let's get together sometime early next week if your schedule permits so I can ask a few questions and post this news on FPA's blog.
we've decided to shut it down for now. an announcement with more details should be added to the website shortly.what happened to this site -- it hasnt been updated in 2 days
I hope this is temporary. I use this pretty much every day now.we've decided to shut it down for now. an announcement with more details should be added to the website shortly.what happened to this site -- it hasnt been updated in 2 days
Wow this site looks awesome. And the homepage doesn't make my eyes bleed. It was too good for FBG's own good. I found new, awesome sites that I wouldn't have otherwise discovered. Thank you for leading me to Dynasty League Football, for example.
I have to assume that the TIF site undermined the biz plan of FBG, right?
This has gotta be the reason why. As a direct competitor that gets referrals from organic SEO and various other 3rd party sites, the traffic I got from TIF immediately shot it to my #1 referral source, and that includes Google. Honestly, I couldn't believe FBG did it in the first place, so I'm not surprised to see it go away so fast.Awesome idea, but it's not in their best interest without going to a subscription model. It was too good for FBG's own good. It's been shut down, no new links for almost a week. No explanation, just wondering if it's done for good.LOVE the site. few minor glitches but all in all great.
STILL great though. LOVE the site. CAN'T WAIT for it to reopen. / H,L,W,&PIt's been shut down, no new links for almost a week. No explanation, just wondering if it's done for good.LOVE the site. few minor glitches but all in all great.
sorry for the delay. there is an explanation posted to the website now.we picked sept 2nd as a cutoff for the end of the 2010 preseason and decided not to carry forward through the regular season until we can improve on the website and some of the backend processes that help us run it.It's been shut down, no new links for almost a week. No explanation, just wondering if it's done for good.LOVE the site. few minor glitches but all in all great.
This. Nice job guys - while it lasted it was my one-stop shop (well, that and these boardsThanks for the good words, Guys. I"m bummed but we just needed to reevaluate some processes and honestly assess why we weren't getting better traction. I see things talking about this being a threat to FBG. We didn't see that at all. We secured our own advertising deal with Fantasy Sports Ventures for the site so it was meant to be a completely stand alone site. I actually think it's a nice hedge to have a hand in both the free and the subscription model. Aaron did a FANTASTIC job working this and Im bummed for him more than anything. He couldn't have done a better job at what we asked him to do. I still very much believe in the concept and hope we can get it going again. The technology behind the scenes of it is awesome and I can easily see it applying to other topics in the future. Just need to reevaluate here as we move forward. Thanks to all of you that visited. Hope you can bring a bunch of your friends with you when we open it back up.J
The concept is brilliant actually and I really hope this reappears next year, with other sports potentially integrated. I think it would take off if word actually got out and there was some advertising for it. The only place I ever heard it mentioned was in the shark pool.I still very much believe in the concept and hope we can get it going again.
Site looks great.Care to divulge any others you feel worthwhile? It was too good for FBG's own good. I found new, awesome sites that I wouldn't have otherwise discovered. Thank you for leading me to Dynasty League Football, for example.

Agreed Joe. I mean, if you were able to get the back end technology down to automate the process and minimize actual man hours, imagine how far reaching the scope of TIF could be!!! Every niche has it's diehard fans. Once you got this process nailed down...Today In Boating, Today On Wall St., Today In Computing...TIF is a brilliant concept regardless of niche. In fact, if I were were you guys, I'd go right now and reserve the domain www.todayineverything.com Ultimately, Today In Fantasy could be one of hundreds of a whole suite of Today In _______ .com'sThanks for the good words, Guys. Tuesday, September 07, 2010More Week 1 PrepMust say I'm feeling a great deal of sorrow that FootballGuys had to close down their awesome repository of links for fantasy footballers, TodayinFantasy.com. When I think about the time and energy I put into this relatively minimalistic blog in my spare time and compare it to the monstrous task they took on with TIF, I have to say I'm not shocked that they're taking a break to get kinks worked out...it's a loss for the fantasy info lover but know that they'll be back better than ever next spring. In the meantime I'm drowning my TIF sorrows with the reminder that the NFL season starts in less than 48 hours...
Not sure if anyone cares, but I was bummed to see this last night and started fantasybookmark.com.It's like Digg for Fantasy Footballceo3west said:From FFL:

I think the problem is that Rudnicki himself was the "compiler" you're referring to. And that it wasn't feasible to continue on that way. But, I could be speaking out of turn. That sounded like the problem anyway, reading between the lines.i don't know why you guys shut it down. It was great. I'd say just leave it up and tweak along the way. No need for "launch" date. But its the best FF compiler I've seen yet.
We thought it was an idea with a ton of potential, and almost every piece of feedback we received on the website was very positive. People who used it seemed to love it and rely on it heavily, but we just didn't get enough people to use it to make it worthwhile despite a huge advertising push from footballguys. So, it will probably not be coming back until we figure out a better way to do things or a way to gain more traction in the fantasy community as a whole.Dodds posted this in an FFA thread recently:So it's May 2011, the supposed time of the relaunching of the TodayinFanatasy website according to the TiF homepage. Any word on when or whether it'll be back up?
'David Dodds said:It's not going to happen this season. Today in Fantasy was paid for by Joe and I. We still think the concept is valid, but were unable to get in real traction with the website. The pageviews to the website were not just poor; they were nearly non-existent. Our overall strategy with TIF was for the site to pay for itself with two products: ads and by having a newsletter that would call out the daily stories in fantasy (that would also be supported by ads). Aaron crushed the content piece and did everything we asked of him. We were hoping that calling it out in the FBG newsletter, this thing would gain traction. It never did. I am not going to say it can't be successful in the future, because I do think it can. But it will take a better overall approach and more marketing dollars. Those dollars are not available in this lockout year where the season (and ultimately subscriptions) are very much unknown.'blackbird001 said:Can you confirm this is still valid?"We look forward to relaunching in May 2011 with a much improved product."
