Last year against the Jets in NY Brady posted 216 yards and 1 INT

In Foxboro 310 yards 1 TD and 1 Fumble

He is in for a struggle against a mad Jets D. I am considering sitting him for Cutler who may have a bit more success.

What about Mike Vick? Seems to be a waiver wire guy this week and I figure in most leagues he was picked up. I am a Brady owner and am strongly considering sitting Tom Brady. Vick vs. the Lions seems like the logical choice to me.

I own the Jets D and I'm actually facing the Brady owner this week, and from that perspective I wouldn't mind at all if he benched Brady. It's not the greatest matchup as the Jets D is stout, but their strength is their run D. Cromartie and Wilson looked pretty underwhelming in coverage and so even if Revis is able to completely nuetralize Moss, Brady still has Welker and a bunch of other legit receiving options. I see no reason to bench him unless you have a really strong back up with a good match up.

No, they will throw a lot and imo Patriots O > Jets D.
Silly, the Patriots O is not better than the Jet's D. I might give you a even ranking, but not greater... The Jets D has proven even with a week 1 loss that any, and I mean any QB WR1 will have a sub par day against them. Kris Jenkins or not. I would be very suprised if Brady exceeds 250 yards and 1 TD and 1INT

Agreed, the only way NE beats NY is to throw early and often and I believe they will have better than decent production. IMO, Moss will have his best day yet against Revis, but that aint saying a whole heck of a lot and I would be looking for other options if I owned him.

If Brady didn't have Cromartie and Wilson to pick apart then yes. Brady will be fine.

Define "bunch of other Legit receiving options" I don't see much very scary past Welker.

Cromartie and Wilson, while they made mistakes Monday night are an UPGRADE at the 2nd and 3rd CB position for the Jets. It makes their secondary better than last year.

I have Brady and I am absolutely starting him. He looked more confident and calm in the pocket against the Bengals then he did all of last season. Now, the Jets are a total different animal, don't get me wrong, but Cromartie and Wilson looked awful against the Ravens. My other option is Cutler, I am not starting him at an ANGRY Cowboys team at home. Pass on that one.

Gronk and Hernandez both showed something in their first games, Faulk is always a threat and had a sweet sideline play and even Tate looks like he has the goods. Are you saying the Patriots are lacking in this area?

Brandon Tate is already much better than Sam Aiken. The TE's- Crupler, Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski- as rookies- are better than Watson and Chris Baker last year. Brady looks much, much better than last year.He is stepping into throws. Last year, outside of Moss and Welker, NE did not have anyone that could beat another player (even a nickel or a linebacker) in single coverage except Kevin Faulk. Hernandez is a tough match up for a safety or a backer- as is Gronkowski in the red zone. Tate will have an advantage over most dome db's. I don't know what is going to happen in this game- but NE's pass offense will be better and more precise than last year's offense. I think that they have improved on offense much more than the Jets have improved on defense.

Sorry but I think this is really overthinking FF lineups. If you are "afraid" to play one of the best quarterbacks in the league, why draft him?The weather is fine this week, Revis can only cover one guy, you saw how bad the other Jet DBs were.......PLAY Brady (or not your team but I don't see much merit to the topic)

When someone says Legit receiving options I am not talking about someone who "looks like the have the goods" and yes I am saying that the Patriots lack depth in proven "legit" receivers after Moss and Welker

Oh, I forgot Edleman.ETA: When someone says legit D, who would you use as an example?

Really! Edelman the world beater. I forgot about this hidden gem too. (Sarcasm) Seriously? Why did Brandon Tate jump above him on depth chart if Edelman is so "legit". Again not saying he is terrible just nothing to scare a Defense

You do realize Boldin (the Ravens WR1) had 110 yards and Flacco had 250 yards. Last year Brady averaged 260 yards against them and he was in the first year back from a major injury. His worst game was only the 2nd game back since he was able to walk again. In addition to Brady being back to form the Pats have better receiving options this year.

Just returning the favor. :coffee:

As already mentioned, they have Faulk, Edelman, the 2 rookie TEs and Brandon Tate. Faulk is about as proven as you can get as a pass receiving RB and Edelman showed well last year in place of Welker. Granted, the latter three haven't had enough playing time to show much on the NFL level, but they all project out to be at least decent receiving threats based on their college performances and early NFL returns. So that's 7 guys total that are legitimate options to catch the ball. Not sure what more you can ask for out of a passing game :coffee:

He missed the entire 2008 season. I don't think his complete confidence/accuracy was 100% in week 2 in a hostile away game. Revis Island might be big enough to cover Moss, but Welker had 192 yds in their 2nd game last year. Welker looks healthy and Brady looked on point vs. Cincy. I'd start him with confidence.

It's not "silly" lol. I think the Patriots will win the game (Patriots O better than the Jets D from what I saw last weak) and thats not even talking about the anemic Jets offense and/or in part because of their weak O, more snaps for the Pats. Revis is not in "mid-season" form no matter what they say and the Pats will throw a lot. The Patriots will have Welker running around, 2 good TE's in the mix, and Moss stretching the field, maybe even Edelman and Tate.... If you tweak your own projection, how about 275/2, those are decent numbers that I would take. No doubt the Jets D is dominant but I'm not sitting Brady and predict an unusually strong game statistically.

The Patriots offense is more than just Moss, and there's only one Revis. Welker already showed what he could do if the team focused on stopping Moss. Edelman also racked up yardage while Welker was out in the first game between the two teams in '09. No need to get snippy about it.Since last year, Brady is healthier, Edelman has a year under his belt as a WR and the Patriots now get Tate, Hernandez and Gronkowski, and showed they can use the two TEs very effectively. Meanwhile, the Jets got Kyle Wilson and Cromartie. As much as I like the Jets' corners, I'll take the Pats every day of the week in that matchup. :goodposting:

I will be starting Orton instead of Brady. Probably won't be much of a difference stats wise between the 2, but Orton could suprise a little at home versus Seattle. See a little more upside this week with Orton, but Brady could be out to prove something against the Jets and throw for about 3tds on my bench. Wouldn't suprise me.

First off about Revis... Quote from Don Banks Story on SI.com "Holdout or no holdout, Revis was his usual impenetrable self, and the Ravens barely tested him." So please do not start by saying Brady will be able to pick on Revis because of his holdout. NO ONE is in mid-season form as it is the beginning of the season.SI Jets Ravens

The Jets D was stout. Only reason the Ravens scored a TD was because of a Pass interference call to put them on the 1 yard line. There are a few very good passing O's in the league. Colts, Saints, Texans, Patriots to name a few. All of them would have a subpar day VS the Jets D. I cannot agree with you saying that Brady will have a "unusually strong game statistically"

ASYSAlways Start Your Studs
Try telling that to the Greene and Turner owners..the 1st week proved that ASYS is an old and tired theory. Gotta be willing to change it up a bit if you have bench players with decent matchups when your studs are playing against top-5 defenses.

you are making my point for me bud... How many of those guys are on your team (even bench players) as a WR besides Moss and Welker?

Only two QB's threw for 2 TD or more last season vs the Jets - Henne at home and Peyton at home in the AFCC - and they just shut down Flacco. If you have another QB1 with a decent matchup then I'd bench Brady on the road vs the Jets.

Just because they might have been your first and second picks at the position doesn't make them studs. Greene and Turner were promising RB1 prospects but have hardly achieved 'stud' status yet, if they ever do. There are only a handful of players at each position that rate 'stud' status. Brady is one of them at QB. Certainly he may have an off week, but if you play the 'bench him based on matchup' game you are going to lose more often than not.

Thread has gotten kinda silly, but I would say it is bit incongruous to state matter of fact on the one hand that the NYJs have upgraded their secondary with Cromartie & Wilson and on the other hand imply as if you do not believe NE has improved their passing game with Crumpler, Gronk, Hernandez & Tate. Should be a great game

I know someone will counter that Brady had a very good game vs. Buffalo in 2009 week 1. But for most people, I think it's reasonable to assume that it's easier to have full confidence/perfect mechanics vs. a team who doesn't rush the passer that well like Buffalo (where no one is diving towards your leg after a catastrophic injury) vs. a team who is one of the best at blitz packages. Yes, the Jets will blitz this year, but as long as Brady has the confidence his leg is healthy, he should be fine.

don't believe everything Don Banks writes, lol

"Unusually strong game statistically" against the Jets, if you need clarification. If you think this game is going to be 10-9 you are sorely mistaken and have obviously underestimated Brady. My prediction is now 300/3.

Are they playing this game last year?Brady will have two TD's in the first quarter alone on Sunday. And one or both will go to Moss while he's being "shut down" by Revis.
