Tony Gonzalez (1 Viewer)

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez said on Wednesday that he would potentially be open to a trade from the Chiefs to a Super Bowl contender. "Yeah. I definitely could [envision the potential for a trade to another team], but I love being a Chief," Gonzalez said. "But if it was something where it was going to take three or four years or whatever before they get this thing right, I think it would be in their best interest to maybe see what they can get and send me off."

This would be the best thing that could happen to TG, the Chiefs, and fantasy owners of TG. I don't understand why TG enjoys playing in KC so much. If TG could get on a winning team I would certainly win my league this year.

Where might he go?

What is the likely-hood of him being trade?

the G men probably have the bank to land TG

personally i think KC will move TG.....what do they have to lose, absolutely NOTHING. TG has done everything possible for KC, its time KC did something for TG

X = good player

Y = bad team

Z = good team

A = homer fan

B = frustration

C = message board

Now, start filling your madlibs......

you lost me
"Hey guys at C, I'm an A who's experiencing B with Y, and I think it would be really cool if X got traded to Z. What do you guys think?? :excited:"Now do the same thing for 20 different scenarios and watch this message board go down the tubes.

The Chiefs aren't trading LJ. And if they won't trade him I can't see them moving Gonzo.
Don't see why not. Herm has clearly committed the team to a rebuild. At this point they won't be contenders yet for a few years, and by the time they are Gonzalez likely won't be playing anymore. They're not going to win with him this year or next year, so why not trade him for a decent draft pick that will help you 5 years from now?

I think the Ravens should trade McGahee. He's not getting any younger, the team isn't going anywhere and they have McClain/Rice to replace him. A team like the Seahawks could really use his services.

If they were going to trade LJ and Tony, wouldnt LAST year been a good time to do it. I cant imagine a situation where the Chiefs actually believed they had any shot at being a contender this season so why wouldnt you moved both those guys last season instead of giving LJ a new contract and holding onto Tony G. I actually just traded Gonzalez in a league where I'm 0-3 and in bad shape for Todd Heap and a 1st because after this season if they dont trade Tony I could seriously see him thinking about hanging it up

I think moving him would be unlikely, due to the constraints the Chiefs are facing due to their current salary cap numbers.

They basically are sitting darn near at the salary cap floor/minimum right now. Moving Gonzalez primarily for future picks would require some maneuvering to increase how much they are spending on other guys still on the team. Then you get into issues of how many of the people on the team are eligible for and worth giving more money to now just to meet the floor.

Another alternative would be finding suitors who would be willing (and able to eat bonuses, etc.) to give up younger talent (+ picks) whose salaries together would be close enough to what TG's eating up now to make it workable.

Certainly, there are some salary-cap wizards in the NFL who could make something like this work - I'm just not sure how many of them work for the Chiefs. :lmao:
