Tony Sparano Will Take Dolphins Head Coaching Job (1 Viewer)

Rooney Rule, schmooney rule!
What do you mean?Did they talk to Carthon?J
The dolphins are rumored (profootballtalk) to be scheduled to talk to Leslie Frazier on Monday. Also, since Sparano isn't supposed be offered a job until after the Cowboys season ends, Parcells and co have through at least next weekend to conduct a :coffee: interview if need be.

I thought you couldnt talk to coaches who were still playing in the playoffs? How could this deal with sparano be done?
There is a bye week window for team to interview coaching candidates. The NFL changed it because some candidates thought they were losing oppotunity because of coaching for a team that is good enough to go far in the palyoffs.

The Sparano hire hasn't been made official yet because of the Rooney rule. They'll meet that requirement after they interview Leslie Frazier on Monday.

Expect official word on the Sparano hire the minute after the Cowboy season ends.

The raid on the Dallas front office/coaching staff has not ended. I am expecting Todd Bowles to be the next DC here in Miami.

The raid continues . . .

The Cowboys lost another staffer Saturday, but it wasn’t Tony Sparano or Jason Garrett.

Assistant director of pro scouting Brian Gaine, in his third season with the Cowboys, left the team to join the Miami Dolphins’ scouting department.

Gaine followed former Cowboys vice president of college and pro scouting Jeff Ireland, who became the Dolphins’ general manager on Wednesday.

When Cowboys owner Jerry Jones allowed Bill Parcells, the Dolphins new vice president of football operations, to hire Ireland, he did so with the understanding that the Dolphins might come after Sparano, but Jones expected his scouting department to remain intact.

He even said the presence of Gaine and assistant director of college scouting Tom Ciskowski would allow the team to move on without Ireland. But that changed when Gaine asked to join Parcells and Ireland in Miami.

According to a source, a frustrated Jones granted Gaine his wish Friday.

If this is all true, they could still face some flak over it, like the Lions did when it was clear they had already decided to hire Mooch, and an interview of a minority candidate was just being done to not appear in violation of the rule.
