Top 10 draft picks ! no doubt ! (1 Viewer)

The Moz

Footballguy
1. Houston - Vince Young - After planning on Reggie Bush for a while they take the hometown boy ! ! Young Like Vick sells merchandise . ticket sales , and gets the Houston sports scene pumping again !

2. NY Jets ( from New Orleans ) - Reggie Bush - Bush stock remained high after the title game and he still goes really high. Jets could not sit and really just pray he fell to them so they traded up.

3. Tennessee - Matt Leinart - Just who the Titans wanted all along !

4. New Orleans ( from NY J ) - AJ Hawk - They need defense and since Tennessee took leinart they had to take their next greatest need and hope a solid QB is on the board in round 2.

5. Green Bay - Jimmy Williams - Their greatest need is some kind of a Pass defense.

6. Oakland - D'Brickshaw Fergouson -- Oaklands has needs everywhere - why not boost the O-line.

7. San Francisco - Marcedes Lewis - They need a true playmaker and reliable target for Smith and Lewis is it !

8. Buffalo - Haloli Ngata - They really need a run stopper and he is the greatest their is in the draft !

9. Detroit - Santonio Holmes - kidding :P :P - Mario Williams - Best defense player on the board is taken.

10. Arizona - DeAngelo Williams - Denny " on da high road that's where you'll find me " Green is estatic as he gets his all world RB to go with Fitzgerald and Boldin !

Trade * Jets send 1.4 and 3rd and 5th rounders to Nola for 1.2.

Mercedes Lewis may not even be the best prospect at his position, and then to have him going 7 is way too high. SF does have Eric Johnson and he should be back from injury. There are too many needs for SF to select Lewis at 7. I think they will go another direction.

I think Niners go Jimmy Williams or best DB on the board if the draft falls the way you have it...and take the best TE left in the 2nd.

If D'Brickshaw is still available at 5 and the Packers don't take him I will personally drive up there and slap somebody!

And both are just one twisted knee or rolled-up ankle away from the bench. It's a rough position and you always want depth. D'Brickshaw is too talented to pass. Probably the best OL to come out of college since Pace.

Interesting take Moz.With 3 marquee names in this draft, I don't see NO being a team to drop down. They're giving up on AB, Deuce is hurt and aging, they don't have good RB depth. Leinart, Bush and Young all have to look to good to pass up for them. Maybe one of the other two, but not the Saints. You're right though, the Jets seem to covet Bush in a big way. :dunno: The good news we usually have a clear picture of the first few picks by draft day. You're right about GB taking the first and probably best defender off the board, but I think you have the wrong DB ranked first. I predicted during the Rose Bowl that Huff will go before Williams, and I'm feeling confident about this now, because a couple very solid draft sites have adjusted their rankings accordingly. A pretty knowledgeable Packer fan is suggesting they've projected Hawk as an MLB and can finally move Barnett to OLB. It makes sense in that Hawk is, or is very close to being, the highest rated defender. It would be unusual for an MLB to go that soon, and Mario Williams might be the better call for GB. Kabeer and Kampman could use the help. I think D'Brick falls just a little further, but your Oakland call could be spot on. Most Raider fans, a couple you're very familiar with from that other site, are convinced Oakland wants a big NT-- So, I think Ngata is a safer call. A Niner GM was just quoted in an article practically salivating over the OLBs in this draft and commenting on the need for a big play receiver. They are a candidate to trade down if they get a good deal. The same article discussed what a relief Johnson will be at TE for Smith next year. I like Marcedes a lot, but smarter people than me have convinced me Vernon Davis is the first TE chosen. His highlight reel puts Marcedes' to shame. Buffalo, according to many fans, is desperate for OL help, and this is a great draft to address the problem. Detroit will not take a WR, and Holmes will not be in the top 10. You're being silly and looking for attention. We discussed DeAngelo to AZ yesterday. I like it if he's available, which I doubt, some consider it a reach, but I don't know why. Thanks. I disagree with all of it! :D

That other board :( :( 10K post count wasted :bag: :bag: :bag: :wall: :wall: Anyway I did not say Santonio is taken by Detroit I said Mario Williams actually :o

Deuce is hurt and aging, they don't have good RB depth.
Deuce just got a huge extension last off-season (thus uncuttable) and he is only 27. Yeah, he had an ACL reconstruction, but so have a Jamal Lewis, Edge, McGahee, and CMart to name a few. They do not need, nor should they take Bush.

Err, you don't use a top 5 overall pick for depth. And it's much too early to call D'Brick the best at his position since Pace, his stock fell dramatically when he struggled in the last couple games of the season this year, and the seperation between him and the other tackles coming out this year has shrunk by a good bit. By the time the draft rolls around, D'Brick may not even end up the top ranked tackle in this class.

A lot of reaches in here IMO. Although all of the fans and media are going gaga over Vince Young's performance in the Rose Bowl (and rightfully so, he was great), NFL teams will reserve judgement and make their own evaluation of his NFL prospects.

1. Houston - Will not take VY with what they are paying Carr. Bush did not dissapoint (Vince was just better) and will be the pick here.

It would take A LOT more than a 3rd and a 5th for the Jets to move from 4 to 2. Just look at what the Giants gave SD last year to move from 4 to 1 or what Atlanta gave SD to move from 5 to 1.

2. New Orleans - Leinart or trade down. Leinart would do well stepping into a ready made offense. Good WR, Deuce and a good OL.

3. Tennessee - Kind of a crapshoot here. Colin thinks/hopes they take VY here but I think come draft day Vince will be a little further down the board. I'll give them Ferguson here.

4. Jets - Probably more OL help. Maybe Marcus McNeil. or they could go RB with D'Angelo Williams.

5. GB - A couple of years ago, GB spent a couple of high picks on DB's (Carroll and someone else), they would not go this high on a DB. Mario Williams here.

6. Oakland - The Raiders just spent a top 5 pick on Gallery. No OL here. They need defense. Hawk is the man.

7. SF - SF is in a passing division. DB help is needed. Jimmy Williams.

8. Buffalo - nice call with Ngati

9. Detroit - Mathias Kiwanuka. Detroit tries something different and goes for defensive help.

10. Arizona - Vince Young. Perfect spot for Vince with Denny Green. It wouldnt even matter that JJ Arrington sucks, Vince could be the running game.

Yeah, the more I think about it, Mario Williams or AJ Hawk make a lot more sense. Hawk and Barnett would make quite the tandum.

There's nothing wrong with adding strength to strength, especially if you have poor depth behind the strong player. A Deuce/Bush backfield could be awesome for years. Sure several backs have recovered nicely from knee surgery. Sometimes in a year, sometimes in a couple, but any team can certainly use high quality depth at RB. I don't understand why people regularly think one good back is enough. It is not. The Chargers were very happy with Turner and picked up Sproles. The Chiefs sure look smart for drafting LJ and having him and Priest. Backs drop like flies. If your depth is ASmith and AStecker, you are desperate for a back... desperate. Maybe a 2nd or 3rd rounder is smarter, but the team who passes on Bush may regret it for years...

I will bet my next paycheck that Young doesn't last past the 3rd draft pick, and I'll wager every paycheck until draft day that Vince won't around at the 10th pick.Yes, the Rose Bowl was just one game. And I would still take Bush with the #1 pick if I were Houston. But the pressure on the Texans to take the local hero will be tremendous, and it has already started. If Houston and New Orleans both pass on Young - which is 50/50 - my Titans will grab him.

Thank you for lending some levity to this, Ferguson is a hell of a prospect however he might not even be the first lineman off the board especially when you have a draft this deep at this one position, he'll be in a dog-fight. He is not a clear cut No.1 at this position, half the reason why I think guys are enamored with him is 'cuze they like typing or saying his name.....D'BRICKASHAW, cool name, but the guy is a sub 300 lb LT with a wonky knee. You wont really know anything till the cattle call at Indy.

It would be awesomely expensive to have a backfield like that. A franchise back and a top 5 pick at RB? That would be goofier then their prior RB drafting of Ricky and Duece. I do not know that such a scenario has ever unfolded. You can get "good" backs later. The Chargers depth was all built with mid to late round picks as with most teams. LJ was picked because he was thought to have the Bo Jackson injury and may not recover. All signs point to recovery for Duece...ultimately.

Regardless of how you feel about baseball, the Astros energized that city this year. But, thanks for the great insight.

1. Reggie Bush- Houston isn't passing up on this guy or giving up on Carr.2. Vince Young- The Mike Martz led New Orleans Saints will make him the star of the South.3. Matt Lienart- Back with Norm Chow. How sweet.4. D'Brickshaw Fergouson to Dallas via trade with Jets. 5. AJ Hawk- Favre comes back, Walker comes back, GADO comes back.
