7. Texas

Creativity is a must on a defense with only one viable linebacker. Occasionally there will be a hybrid of linemen and linebackers with Tim Crowder and Brian Robinson seeing time, and other times the D would have to take its chances with six defensive backs. Offensively, the skill players, at an NFL level, aren’t nearly as good as they look on paper, but Selvin Young and Ricky Williams could step in and help the backfield. The O line is a huge help, and there would be several two and three tight end sets with David Thomas and current Longhorn Jermichael Finley worthy of playing time.

Michigan over Tennessee  Scout.com must have a major crush on Brady.
Yeah Brady sucks. You tell em.
I'm not saying Brady sucks, but that Tennesses team is just better. The only thing Michigan has going is a decent O-line, Braylon Edwards and Brady. So it must be the Brady factor that places them above Tenn. Which is a mistake.
Amen brother - no bias here.
DBs - Michigan; TN not a slouch, but that Michigan secondary is dang goodLBs - Michigan, but it's closeDL - Tennessee, by a lotOL - Michigan, by a lotRB - Tennessee, easilyWR - Michigan and no mention of Breaston? He's better than ArringtonQB - Michigan, but very closeOverall - Michigan

I would definitely give the edge to Michigan in OL and DB - no doubt about it. In accordance to the WR position, a case could be made if one were to consider Witten as a part of the group. If not, Michigan takes this easily as well.RBs and DL would go to UT. I was a little surprised to not see Leonard Little in there, but that is neither here nor there. Who knows how he will come back this year...Depending on Al Wilson's comeback (and thats a big if), LBs would be close. As it is, UT LBs in the league are awfully young and haven't proved enough in the NFL to compare to the likes of Ian Gold and co. Being the fan that I am, I would prefer UT to grab the QB position...but I'll be fair and call it a wash. :banned: As hard as it is to say, I would also have to give the slight edge to Meee-chigan.

" Remember, these are current players, or players that are still close to playing..."I love the Rock quote though - ....ah, what could have been....If we're throwing out old players, I want Reggie White in there immediately.

While Michigan might, just might have the edge in overall Talent, if these teams played a real game, The Tenn Team would take it. The Mich DL is a total joke. Woodley has talent, but seems to play LB much better than DE. With the power Run game of Tenn it wouldn't be a contest. The Tenn DL would be huge. Both Haynesworth and Henderson require Double teams leaving a lot of lanes open for the DEs/LBs.Man, I really wish I could actually see this game played. I do think Tenn would take it though.

I love it. On paper, I agree with you - games are won in the trenches. That being said, they have this Brady guy that is rumored to be pretty good. I'd like to see some info on coaches in the NFL with college experience. They could do a whole simulation - similar to the crap ESPN does, "Who's Now.." You know, those month long meaningless segments that they run during dead points of the year.

While I almost agree - I love stud DTs as a foundation; the Michigan OL evens that out. While Big Blue won't be running up the middle, you won't get much of a pass rush, I doubt you'd ever hit Brady let alone get a sack. You give him all day in a spread offense with Braylon, Mario, Amani, and one of Breaston, Avant, Arrington and he might just improve on his 07 season. Your corners aren't your strength to begin with, you just wouldn't be able to stop them, although they would end up with like 2 yards rushing and 450 passing. Meanwhile, Michigan's DL and Tennessee's OL balance out the other way, both are pretty weak, although TN does have the advantage. Henry and Lewis could probably run pretty well, but they won't break any long runs. Peyton would have a rough time passing to Stall and Meachem with those corners, although the pass rush wouldn't be great here either with the 4 LBs forced to concentrate on the run. Then again, this helps keep Michigan's offense off the field, so this helps. Offense:TN - 3-4 yards and a cloud of dustMI - long strike attackDefense:TN - you won't run on usMI - you won't pass on usNotice, TN's strength is MI's weakness and vice versa, so this may come down to coaching. It would be interesting, but unless TN finds a way to get to Brady and stop the spread attack, I think Michigan wins.
