Top 5 Christmas Movies (1 Viewer)

If Christmas Vacation isn't in your top 5, I'm not interested in your other 4.
Christmas Vacation is a classic.
Christmas Vacation. That's it for me.
It's horrible. 90 minutes of crap wrapped around 2 or 3 good lines.
watching it now. so good. every scene is classic.
Be sure to empty your drool bucket during the commercials.

Come on

1. Christmas Vacation - this is actually my favorite comedy of all time, Christmas or non.

2. It's a Wonderful Life - the Christmas classic I have to watch every year

3. Elf - Hilarious for the whole family

4. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966 animated version) - my favorite as a kid and still enjoy it

5. Christmas Story - not little kid friendly, but a great movie

Honorable Mention to Home Alone....I could really put it in slot 4 or 5 depending on my mood.

ETA - Scrooged in with Home Alone as well. I personally probably would put it above Home Alone, but I'm a big Bill Murray fan.
4 years later, 1-3 are still the same.  Move Christmas Story up and put Scrooged in at 5.  Die Hard, Home Alone and the Grinch are honorable mentions.

Finished off Christmas night by watching "It's a Wonderful Life" with my 7 year old boy. He actually liked it and got the message. What a great weekend everyone.

I don't remember watching a comedy with so many scenes between two characters that comes close to being as funny as the ones between Clark and Eddie in Christmas Vacation. One after another that I've seen watching 20 years now and still laugh just the same.

I would argue that movie is the pinnacle of the careers for both actors.  Tailor made roles perfected over a couple of movies.  The exchanges are fantastic with layers of comedy in each scene.

My 11 yr old son got to watch the TV version this weekend for the first time and said, "that is my favorite Christmas movie".  That's without even hearing the complete lines for "Merry Christmas, ####ter's full!" and Chase's rant about his boss or when Ruby Sue says "####tin' rocks".

We watched a few over the weekend.

Elf - my son's favorite, and probably mine, so we watch this every year.

Emmet Otter's Jug Bad Christmas - the whole family watched this on Christmas day.  My wife's favorite from childhood.

Christmas Vacation - the son's first time watching this (and probably my first time actually sitting down and watching the whole thing).  He laughed a bit, and actually rewinded Clark's rant about 4 times and laughed his ### off.

Scrooged - another of the wife's faves and first time for my son watching it.  He liked this one a bit too.

This week it's time for me to watch the "real" Christmas movies - Die Hard and Gremlins.
