Trade Moss? No, not Randy... (1 Viewer)

My WRs are poor. Santana Moss has been looking like the diamond in the rough so far but I'm worried about his health.

Ailing Moss has perfect timing - Washington Post

"[What I have] takes almost a year to heal," Moss said. "We caught it in OTAs when all I had was inflammation in the area, so I don't need surgery. We calmed it down. All year what I'll be doing is treating it, strengthening that area. I had a fluid imbalance on the right side of my groin. I kind of got it under control. I've been playing fine. But it's still there. It's not going nowhere."
I'm wondering if it's a good time to try and move him or if he'll continue to be productive for the rest of the season. Any opinions?

Tough call - the offense seems geared to the long pass, and we've seen that Moss can still get behind defenses in the first 3 weeks. The aggravation didn't happen until the end of the game, so hopefully any effect it would have on his speed/cuts will be lessened by the week off.

If you are down on Moss, go get ARE. He can also run under those Campbell' deep balls, and he's really coming into his own as a pure WR.

I actually wasn't down on Moss, in fact quite the opposite. Watching the games, he looks to be able to blow up each game if Cambell stops overthrowing him. There have been a couple plays each game where an accurate pass turns Moss into a bonafide top 10, so I think the potential is there. The injury is what's concerning me. I hope he can be the same player after the bye, if he's not going to be.. I'd like to trade him while his value is still somewhat good.

As a Moss owner I am also concerned about his injury. I think that at best he will not see as many targets but once or twice a game he will be able to go after the long ball. The worst case scenario is that he is hampered all year and is relegated to being the decoy. As has been stated above his trade value at this point is "nil". If I do not hang onto him then I will have to drop him. Right now that is not an option but I may have to start considering it since Bowe is out there.

I think you are correct. If you only say the stat line for Moss you would think he is not doing much but he has looked explosive and Campbell has overthrew him badly in each and every game with the worst offense occuring in the MNF game against the Giants when Moss was about 10-15 yards open for an easy 70 yard TD. The injury is concerning however especially since he has his best matchup of the season after the bye week. If I owned him in a league that allowed trades I'd look to move him after the Lions game, provided he plays in that game. I'm in a no trade league and I'm just going to hope he stays healthy and if he does I expect big numbers from him.
