Trade rumor (1 Viewer)

If this rumor has even a shred of validity to it, that must mean Toefield is realy wowing the Jags. Even though he isnt the runner Jones is. JDR has commented that he's only keeping 5 RB's. (Sorry will try to find the link) That leaves room for Taylor, Jones, Drew, Wimbush with the odd man out comming between Toe and Pearman. While it seems redundant to keep Pearman and Drew, JDR loves his utlitiy men. Toefield must be having a hell of a camp.

But i still think theres no way in hell this is true.

They are looking at the wrong Jones. Thomas is the one they need to try and swap Lelie with. Thomas would be a monster in Denver.
Now this makes sense and the value is much closer. Don't know if it does from a contractual standpoint though.
As an owner of both Ron Dayne and Thomas Jones, I would *love* this. In one fell swoop, it would end the uncertainty with both RBs, and give me a sure-fire stud AND his handcuff in the process.Don't think it's going to happen, but I can dream, can't I?

This was a question to ESPN's Jeremy Green on a chat today. It is Insider material, so I can't link it. He was asked about teams that are interested in Lelie. he mentioned a couple and then said Jax was also interested and Greg Jones could be the bait. As a player that is somewhat similar to Dayne, I'm not sure why this makes sense for Denver, unless they don't believe in Dayne at all.
Greg Jones is not similar to Dayne ... Jones is a power back. Dayne is fat turd with very little power. He will be the 3rd running back on Denver by week 4 at the latest.
Sig bet?
if lelie doesn't show who will start opposite rod smith? javon walker isn't ready to go, right?
Walker's ready to go, and will start opposite Smith. The speculation is whether he'll be all the way back to his 1300 yard form again, not whether he'll be able to play.

Clarify the terms...If you are betting against "Dayne is fat turd with very little power" Change your sig I already won.I'd gladly bet that barring Injury Dayne will not be the most productive Fantasy Back on the on Denver come week 4

I'm not sure it changes what you've said, but Wimbush has a broken arm and may miss a lot of training camp. Link

That actually is a misunderstanding. He never did break his arm. Those were merely early reports. Vic from Jaguars.com in his own words:
Vic: I asked the Jaguars for an official prognosis on Derrick Wimbush's injury. Here it is: “Broken hand; two weeks with no activity and two weeks of active recovery. No surgery required and full go for training camp.”
I fully expect wimbush to keep his spot. He led ST in tackles and set a Jaguars record for kick return yardage. Great backup FB who really ran over LB's. JDR and his teamates love his versatility.

Uhhh reality check people.

What the heck has Greg Jones done? Had a few good games filling in for Fred Taylor? Give me a break. I like Greg Jones. Thought he was a great back at FSU.

But Lelie has done much more than Jones thus far at their respective positions.

That is a fair deal if it even happens. Which I doubt. But you never know.

My money is on Bell finally being the guy in Denver. Dayne is pure crap, and will be the guy who spells Bell.

Jones will be nothing more than a goalline back for Jax this season. Fred Taylor is the man for the Jaguars this season.
You obviously haven't played Madden 06 with the Jags yet. Jones is a pure stud!! :D

Okay, how's this. From week 4 to week 16, Ron Dayne will be the most productive RB. We'll exclude all weeks where Bell or Dayne is injured, too. So in other words, if you total up the fantasy points of Ron Dayne, Tatum Bell, Cedric Cobbs, and any other RB on the Denver squad in every week where both Dayne and Bell were healthy enough to play, then Ron Dayne will have the highest fantasy point total.Winner is determined in week 17. He gets 2 lines to put into the loser's sig, and the loser must carry that sig until August of next year. Acceptable terms?

Jones was a MONSTER coming out of college - and he runs like it in the NFL - comparison = Jerome Bettis. And that's a fair comparison.

He would be a HUGE fantasy RB in Denver.

I don't think Jones is near as agile as Bettis was or has even half as quick of feet. He runs with the same power and finishes runs, but thats about it IMO. Poor mans Bettis maybe, but Bettis he never has been. :2cents:
