Trading Draft Spots (1 Viewer)

Most folks on here believe that you can win a league from any position you draft from. Staff and other vets here remind us not to fall in love with a player and just take whatever the best player that is available. Therefore you'd think there wouldn't be much of a market form trading draft spots and yet it iften takes place.

What is the Pools thoughts on this and if negotiating a trade how can one get value, or more importantly, not loss any value from such a trade.

Recently traded the #1 in a 16 team dynasty for a 2nd and 3rd and top 3 rounds of rookie draft. That league doesn't require RB's. Besides WR's score better over there.

Of the top 30 scorers only 3 are RB's. The point is your scoring system can determine strategy.

That gave me 2.12, 2.16, 3.01 3.05 plus 1.12, 1.16, 2.12, 2.16, 3.12.3,16 rookies. I traded down more later and got more rookie picks but they are late picks.

In a sister league those rookies were(trade picks)

Lofton

Manningham(but could be Chris Long or Gooden)

Caldwell(but could be Dorsey)

So the #1=

Steve Smith

Chad Johnson(but I traded down again for 6 rookie picks-Gooden, Tyrell Johnson, Wheeler, Will Franklin, Keglar, Josh Morgan-in sister league)

Lofton

Chris Long

Caldwell

Call me Ted Thompson. It's a 60 man roster league. With no RB required (can start 5 WR's) I thought it was a good long term move. We'll see how it works out in 2 years.

Sound complicated but may bear fruit.I should have pointed that this was strictly for a redraft league. Trading drafts spots on a Dynasty league is almost a given.

I'd look at the scoring system and analyze who you think will go where. Last year I traded down from 1.03 to 1.05 and picked up a 6th rounder where I took Winslow. He took Gore and I took Addai who I liked better.If you don't like the value where you are and can trade down and still get the guy you like go for it.
