Trading Players for Future Picks (1 Viewer)

I'm sitting at 2-4 and thinking about blowing up my team. I have a lot of quality players, but RBs are so ####ty I can't complete week in and week out.

So how do you determine value aside from proposing a bunch of trades and seeing what kind of counters you get? Could I use the Top 250 forward and say if a certain player is ranked 24 then getting a 2nd rounder next year for him is good?

How about leagues that allow a set number of keepers?

ETA: Edited because I did a crappy job explaining my question (probably still crappy)

Top 250 has no bearing on future values. It would take a lot more information to determine what kind of value players are worth, since it appears by your comment it's not a dynasty, but a keeper league of some kind. Regardless, that would belong in the AC forum.

Thought about posting this in the AC forum, if mods want to move it there, fine. I disagree though.I'm curious how other people assess value in their leagues. Sure rules differ, but I'd like to know what kind of tools/analysis I can use to get an idea what players are worth. If Top 250 is no good, what is good?

A 2nd rounder for Julio jones? I'm misreading this right? Lol
2nd rounder in a redraft with 3 keepers per team. The question I'm trying to figure out is how many keepers each year are ___ rounders? What does the distribution of ADP for players kept look like? I realize that lots of these questions are league specific, but they must be things that you Shark Poolers have considered before.

Well, in a dynasty league a future first rounder is worth varying amounts depending on your thoughts of the team you are playing, the age of the player you're sending away, etc.In a keeper like yours (and all other keepers really), the rules are so varied that it's pretty much impossible to give a straight-forward answer on how to determine future value.Regardless of the format, I can't see a situation where a future second rounder would enough value for Julio.

You want to talk about the value of players in a keeper? Here's one: do not trade Julio jones for anyone. He is a guy you keep for 10 years in a keeper league. Imagine having Isaac Bruce or torry holt for their whole careers.

Calvin Johnson, aj green, Julio jones and demaryius Thomas are my top 4 Players in keeper and dynasty leagues and in no particular order. I wouldn't trade them for anyone.

I'm thinking along the following lines:1. Figure out how to equate 2012 draft picks to 2013 draft picks to 2014 draft picks etc. Just like money, draft picks have a time value. I might trade a first rounder in 2014 for a second rounder in 2013. I figured this has to have been done before, no need to reinvent the wheel.

2. Figure out/theorize how keeper ADP is distributed. I guess I could do this by trying to predict keepers for each team in my league but in a few conversations I've had with other owners, I'm often surprised how they rank their keepers.

3. Once you have an idea of what a 2013 pick is worth today and how much lower it might be due to players kept, you can make an apples to apples comparison.

what ever you can negotiate, feel the owner out and try to get as high a pick as you can. make an announcement to the league that you're having a fire sale and take the highest bid. its easier for the seller than the buyer.

I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but future value picks aren't as easy as just trading players in regular leagues. There really isn't a good guide for it, because it all depends on the settings, player, value of the pick (based on where the pick will be), etc. It varies wildly.

basically I determine value by where the player will be selected. If said player would be one of the top guys off the board I try and get a good pick for him and I sell it that way.
