Travis Henry going forward (1 Viewer)

So far Henry has been a yardage monster but few scores. Young seems to be playing well when given the chance to sub in for Henry. Going forward does Henry start to loose touches to Young or will his value hold?? Does Henry start getting some goalline love or is yardage all we get. For Henry owners is it time to trade while the value is high?? What do the Sharks think??

Everyone with Henry will tell you are crazy, and everyone with Young will tell you he is going to get carries.... Nice can of worms you opened...

Hard to say exactly, but my opinion is that Selvin Young will continue to be the third down back and change-of-pace back. He'll be used at times, but Henry will still carry the load.

He is the leading rusher in the NFL. He got hurt, his back up did okay.

Good Gawd some folks are reaching here for a sleeper.

If Travis is healthy, he will contintue to lead the leauge in rushing. The guy can get it done, and was MADE for the Denver Scheme.

I don't think Selvin is a reach or a sleeper.

So what exactly do you think he is?

1 DEN BUF 2 7 0 1 0 0 0 0.7 [play-by-play]

2 DEN OAK 3 43 0 3 1 1 0 4.4 [play-by-play]

3 DEN JAX 2 7 0 2 2 37 0 4.4 [play-by-play]

4 DEN IND 8 81 0 2 2 19 0 10.0

He had a nice run in Oakland.

He had some carries in IND while Travis was dinged.

He is the #2 back. But guys are acting like he is going to take carries away from a healthy Henry. That is NOT going to happen. Like I said, if you watch the games, you will see that Henry was born to be a Bronco. Young will not take a lot away from a healthy Travis Henry. Young is the back-up and will remain so unless Henry is out do to injury.

So ya, he is a reach, cause guys are valuing him much higher than an injury replacment, which is all he is at this point.

And lots of folks are thinking of him in a sleeper, because they vultered him to early in their redraft leagues or picked him up week one on waivers.

Henry has more talent in his left pinkie than Young will have/will ever have. On the other hand, he is a fine handcuff. He will not be stealing any carries if both are healthy during the course of a game.

obviously, he'll produce when healthy. his health seems a bit up in the air right now, so i can't imagine selling high to people who know that his health may be an issue. if anything, it's probably the time to go get him from a nervous owner.

From a pure football perspective (real football) I think it would be wise of Shanny to spell Henry a little more then he has so far. The guy is running great but he has a knee problem and it is only week 5 there is no reason to wear him out particularly if the guy behind him is also running well.

Maybe this will happen if Denver ever actually manages to get a comfortable lead in a game.

the local radio hacks say that Selvin Young won't be featured in anything. His role is change of pace, 3rd downs and gimmick plays. These guys were at training camp, take that for what you will.

Why can't people see that Shanny is running the heck out of Travis and it would be natural and acceptable for Henry owners if he was spelled from time to time.

He is leading the league in rushing people...he ain't chopped liver. I imagine he will continue to lose carries on 3rd downs just like every other RB in the NFL not named LT or LJ.

Chaca - yesterday you pretty much called me an idiot for saying this same thing.... I think it is a possibility that Young gets some carries going forward. He is capable and it would help keep Henry healthy. So, YES I agree with YOU on this.

Keep in mind that the Broncos paid big free agent money to Henry. They plan to use him unless he can't play, and he's playing pretty well. Young is emerging as a guy who can spell Henry, but I don't think he'll take over the main job this year unless there's an injury. This isn't Bell/Bell.

so this is week 5 and Henry has already had how many MRIs? Three atleast, but there could be more...

its only a matter of time before his season is done...count on it.

A no I am not a Selvin Young owner...more like a realist

Has nothing to do with owning Henry...more to do with Watching the Broncos play the game for the last 24 odd years.

Count on it? Seriously? That is a pretty strong statement.

I think Selvin Young is comparable to Michael Turner right now. Both are used as change of pace/ 3rd down backs. Neither are going to steal alot of carries from the starting RB but both are good handcuffs and will become valuable if an injury occurs.

The "C" and "K" are nowhere near each other on the keyboard so I know you are  me now, otherwise I would point in detail out how flawed your posting is.

 Young is extremely talented. Ask Bobby Turner, he'll tell ya.

WTF?!!!! A Denver RB losing carries to another RB?!!!

FF adages:

1. Never bench your studs

2. Never trust the Orange Faced Devil; Shanny!

 Straight to the point. Thread over.

On draft day I have a robocop-like directive scrolling across my vision.. 1. Do not draft Denver RBs...I think if Henry was there at 2.04 I might have had to break that directive tho.Death to skeletor!

Obviously Henry is the back, but until we know the extent of his injury, and I'm sure Shanny will be forthcoming :lmao: I picked up Young just in case. As a fill in for a week or so you could do alot worse...GB backs

I have both. I think that Henry will lose touches to Young, which is an incredibly good thing. Henry's currently getting 23 touches a game, despite missing some time to injury already. He's getting a larger share of the team's carries than Portis ever did, or than Terrell Davis did in two of his four pre-injury seasons. He's being overworked, plain and simple.Despite the fact that Henry is likely to lose touches, if healthy enough to play, he's still almost a lock to continue to get enough touches to keep him in the top 10. Take that to the bank.

:argue: People seem to forget that exactly 0 RBs in the NFL get 100% of the carries.

First, let's get this straight. If you are a Henry owner and were not wise enough to prrotect your investment with Selvin Young as a handcuff, you're probably the one that's asking these asinine questions and starting these multiple threads about Travis Henry's possible injury, playing time or role in the Denver offense. Fear and stress is obviously eating the insides of the GMs who were asleep at the wheel by not grabbing Henry's handcuff. Secondly, those that did grab Young because the Henry owner was on sleeping gas are just praying to the fantasy Gods for either a season ending injury to Travis Henry, or that Shanahan starts to flip a coin as to who will start as his RB1 or that Young becomes a goal line vulture. For them, I recommend that they download Burt Bacharach's Wishing and Hoping into their IPod. I'm partial to the Dusty Springfield version myself. Third, Young owners are obviously playing the smart game by making the Henry owners panic into making a lopsided deal to acquire the handcuff. If Henry owners are giving in to absurd trade offers, more fool them. So here's the lesson of the day; If Henry is good to go, Young will be simply a change of pace back who can excel in te Denver scheme. But with everything being equal, should Henry miss playing time, Young owners who think they hit the jackpot will inevitably face the same nightmare that have given ulcers to past Tatum Bell, Mike Anderson and Ruben Droughn owners when they were in Denver. A nice three-headed monster will appear with Young, Bell and Sapp that will have you scrambling for the waiver wire week in, week out and make you check all the latest news till 12:59 on Sunday to find out who will the the Broncos starting RB. Now please, end your unfounded speculations and calm yourselves.

:goodposting: I just traded Young for Greg Jennings in a dynasty league.

I don't own either guy. But I've seen enough of Young to say this with confidence. If Henry goes down, you're looking at the next Bronco Back to rush for 1,000+ yards and 6-12 TD's in Selvin Young. He has TWICE the physical ability of Droughns or Anderson and is Tougher between the tackles than Tinker Bell. The comparisons between those 3 and him are WAY OFF base.

It's LOSE touches....not LOOSE. And no, he isn't in danger unless he's hurt badly.
:moneybag: thank you, that was driving me crazy and he's not the only one making this same stupid typo either (I hope it was a typo).BTW, a Travis Henry loose touch would be a little different subject that is probably more closely related to why he's got nine kids with nine different women.

I'll tell you what I think Young is...he is a shark pickup to trade to a nervous Henry owner. This way I don't have to enter the debate. I just pick him up with a usable roster spot and try to work a trade. I'll hold him a couple weeks just in case, but I am certainly not going to bank my season on him.

Bump.....

Guessing Henry is gonna lose some carries now that he's failed the piss test. 2nd offense = 1 year suspension.

Guy in my league grabbed Young on Sept. 30th. He drives a Delorian and keeps saying 'what are you looking at butthead?!'
