Travis Henry. Marijuana. Suspension? (1 Viewer)

I was originally one of the many who piled on Garts for posting a link to a members-only message board.

I'm stepping off the pile now. :censored:

Henry fired the first salvo in the case Sept. 20 when he attempted to get a restraining order in Suffolk County Supreme Court to block the NFL from using a urine specimen against him and to stop the league from disclosing the test results.

Court papers filed in the state court action couldn't be reviewed late Thursday, and Henry's attorney Robert Dapelo of Patchogue declined comment. But papers filed by the NFL on Monday in federal court suggested that Henry may have failed the test because the documents stated that Henry was trying to stop the league from testing his specimen and "suspending from his employment with the NFL."

While the Suffolk court granted the temporary restraining order against the NFL, the league got an appellate court to vacate that order, court papers disclosed.

The NFL is seeking to have the litigation transferred to Brooklyn federal court because the issue involves interpretation of the league's collective bargaining agreement, which generally is covered by federal labor laws. Henry claims that the NFL violated league substance abuse policy by not allowing his experts to be present for testing of his urine specimen, court papers stated.

The 28 year-old Henry was signed by the Broncos in March after stints with the Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills. He leads the league in rushing this season with 433 yards.

NFL attorney Sean O'Donnell of Manhattan declined to comment late Thursday.
The Newsday article definitely clarifies things a bit.Obviously, Travis Henry rotating out of the drug program is not an issue here since he clearly failed the test a while ago...

But what a very bizarre series of events.

The biggest surprise, though, has to be that there was all this legal activity but nobody leaked a peep about it.

The Henry owner already had Young in my main league. There any value to the other RBs if it turns out that Henry misses time for this?

For those of us who are not members of that website, can you summarize what's going on in that thread?
They are all crapping their pants and calling Henry every name in the book.Broncs33 says:

9 kids

Alot of money

no rubbers

and some weed

Sounds like a killer song...

azbroncfan says:

Well that was the risk that Denver took on him. Denver knew he was one puff, puff, give away from a year suspension. Guy is a complete moron. 9 kids nine different women says enough about this guy.

Like they say you can take a guy out of the hood but you can't take the hood out of the guy.

I thought he was out of the one year suspension club after his first week of practice this year. I don't think this is legit. :censored:
I thought so as well. Does anyone know how the rule is written?
I don't know what week he had to wait until but I was fairly certain it was 4-6 weeks into the season before the NFL wiped his slate clean.
If General Zod has his way, Henry will serve a lifetime suspension and will not even be able to subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket.
I win. I always win. Is there no one on this planet to even challenge me?

Certainly before Spet 20th when the court charges were filed. Toxicology test take about a week to get back so maybe the 13th.Week 2 games started the 16th. Is that when he would have gotten a clean slate?I dunno but him taking the NFL to court wont sit well, I cant imagine.

Is this all a hoax? These "news sites" all look fake to me. Why isn't this on espn or cnnsi or something?
Nope. Newsday is a real site.Click around and explore... If this is a hoax, the hoaxers spent a large amount of time and money to hijack these websites...

So is it Young, Sapp, or Bell that is going to benefit most? I have 3.5 hours til waivers are processed and I can get Young for $1.

I know at least ESPN has a rule where they need to confirm a story to be 100% true, and they need more than one source to run a story at least that is what Dan Patrick used to say on the radio

Can we please stop the jokes and post actual fantasy football content?

If this is true when will Henry serve suspension? Week 6?

Young is obviously going to start if he is suspended but who is next on the depth chart? Mike Bell (concussion???) or Cecil Sapp?

Did you forget Shanny is the coach. Young for today but ? for next week.
Young, Henry's clear backup, had a 40-yard run in Week 2. "I can see him as a starter," Shanahan said. "He is a starter in this league." Young was also targeted twice deep as a receiver, as Denver wants to keep Young involved - Source: denverbroncos.com

As promising as Young looks, I doubt they go to battle with a RB depth chart consisting of Young/Bell/Sapp, all of them largely unproven. Look for one of the "street veterans" to be signed. The name everyone throws out is Corey Dillon, but I don't think he's a great fit for this offense at his age.

So how will this impact Henry's status for this week? Do the Broncos sit him? Latest word I heard was he was going to try and practice on Friday. Would Shanahan still start him if he was healthy enough to play?

the results of the drug test may have been released prematurely, as rumor has it it couldn't be read because there was too much swelling in the nether regions.

Mike Bell still hasn't been cleared to play from a concussion.Next in line is Andre Hall??

f Henry can't play, rookie Selvin Young, who rushed for 81 yards on nine carries against the Colts, probably would start. Andre Hall would be the likely backup. Young said he will practice as if he's playing, but he does so every week.
