Travis Henry. Marijuana. Suspension? (1 Viewer)

I followed the advice of a previous poster and dropped my PK to pick up Hall too; I have Bell and Hall and hopefully I win the sweepstakes. I'll drop one of them Sunday morning to pick up a PK.

So again I'll ask - what do people think this means for this week's game? Any chance Shanahan sits Henry even if he's ready to play? And yes I realize none of us know for sure; I'm just curious as to the general thoughts from the folks here.

Mike Bell couldn't sieze the job from Tatum Bell. He still sucks at blitz pick up......and, and...don't forget he had a fumbling issue for a lil bit last year. There's a reason he got moved to fullback

Sapp has a better chance than Mike, imo.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/8008/g....uLYF?year=2006Mike Bell fumbled once last season on 157 carries...
my bad, maybe i was thinking of preseason. All I know is that the faith is not in Mr. Bell in Broncoland, so unless he's turned a corner and him being moved to fullback was a ploy to motivate him per Shanny he'll be a lead blocker

Doesn't him being move to FB speak more to wanting to give him more playing time than he would have as a backup RB? Not saying he's a lock for the gig if Henry was puffing the sweet leaf, but you can't count him out.

what a waste of months of hype and big trades to get Travis from other owners...I should've known this was too good to be true.

Kind of odd that the Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News do not have this yet. I wonder if this is really true.
:goodposting: What more do you need? To blow a bong with him?
Well how about a report from actually a reliable source. Maybe you like false reports but I like get facts.I guess you believe everything that you read and hear.
When it comes to the initial link of My Fox Colorado then I do believe it based on that site. Then to follow this thread I'm more inclined to believe it. I have the common sense to know what to believe so you just may want to learn from that, son.
Ok Dad.. Its not like a TV news station has ever been wrong.. opps they have.. and since everyone is quoting them..I am not saying that the news is not valid, but I want to see it on a different source is all. got that pops??
It's been reported on several web sites... Reputable ones at that... So, again, what other proof do you want? PDFs of the legal documents at Smoking Gun?

Dude, I mean like man, Ricky and Mike said I wouldn't get caught. Ya know, they like trapped me or something, this is F*d up man, :goodposting:

Just based on recent memory, it seems to me that Shanny has a track record of turning to his FB1 in these times (Mike Anderson and Reuben Droughns). That would be Cecil Sapp. I'm on record as backing Sapp as the new Denver starting tailback.
:goodposting:
mike bell has been playing FB this season
Bell is listed behind Sapp on the depth chart, received far fewer carries in the pre-season, and missed last week with a concussion. I picked up both where I could, but I believe that if not Selvin (and I don't think it will be), it will be Sapp.Bloom and Lammey even called Young "Inspector Gadget" on the Audible, specifically noting that Young gained most of his yards on draw plays and a reverse. They implied that if Henry goes down, Selvin Young will not be the answer.

I picked up Selvin yesterday after I heard that Bongo tip among other stuff .... interesting, Why else would Denver have a Ricky Williams billboard , somebody knew something ....coincidence ?

In one of my money leagues. I have Henry and I am about to start calling and work a trade before this goes out. Yes, I would do it.

Is the consensus here that he will be suspended or what? Is there the posibility this is a joke or something. I am wondering. Rotoworld posted it, but I can't find it anywhere else.

Fox and CBS News not legit enough for you?
Yes and NO.We all know how much fantasy plays into sports news. I'd just expect something from a national media outlet (ESPN NFLNetwork). Not diminishing local Fox channels or a very unreliable cbs.com stuff.

Sirius NFL just mentioned it. They didn't quote a source, just mentioned in passing that 'Travis Henry has failed a drug test.'And it was the local CBS affiliate who went with the story I mentioned earlier, same information that was on the Fox site, not Dan Rather or whoever.

I know nothing about Andre Hall. Any scouting reports?
Compact RB with good quicks and burst. We interviewed Andre this summer at training camp

Travis Henry took him under his wing this summer and Hall said Henry taught him a lot. Hall is a great talent, he did not get cut because he wasn't good enough - going into the draft many had him projected as high as the 3rd round, but the word was he didnt understand what it took to really make it in the NFL at first - dedication/work ethic wise.

He definitely has the ability to do well if he's given the shot.

Is this some kind of record ? Does somebody keep track of this ? Anyone ?

TIA

there were character/work ethic questions

Then avoid Hall. Considering Henry "taught him alot".
Theres no reason to jump to that conclusion. I edited the post to remove "character" because thats too broad a term and specifically cited the buzz in the form I heard it so that the vagueness of "character" would not be interpreted incorrectly.

Dang, Fanball just posted it...was hoping they'd be slow so that I could make a trade before it leaked. Young was taken early in the year (very competitive league), so I had to grab Sapp.

Hey, if you can tell people to avoid Addai, I can tell people to avoid Hall.

Umm, it's a local station reporting it, not the network.
So it's only legit if National news reports it?Denial ain't just a river in Egypt
No everyone took notice of this thread, some of us jumped on Young if he was available or other Denver RBs. I, and a few others I imagine, are looking for sometype of confirmation from larger (nat'l media sources). The bigger dogs typically have to verify their sources a few more times and get a bit more of the story than the smaller sources that break the news. Maybe Henry tested positive but there is no suspension so ESPN doesn't see it as a big news story. I don't know just waiting to see some confirmation.

I found this...it`s old but clears up what week he has until out of the program.

Henry may end up carrying clean slate

Article Last Updated: 03/07/2007 12:30:00 AM MST

One risk involved in the Broncos' signing of Travis Henry will be erased later this year if the running back continues to stay clean.

Henry will rotate out of the NFL's substance abuse program after the third game of the 2007 season if he doesn't have any drug violations. If he does have a violation before then, Henry would be suspended for the entire season.

Players rotate out of the program after two seasons if they don't have any further violations.

Henry was suspended four games in 2005, his first season with the Tennessee Titans, after testing positive for marijuana.

Found this from the NFLPA's drug policy .pdf.

Quote:

Duration: A player will remain in Stage Two for twenty-four

months or two full seasons, whichever is shorter, beginning from

the later of either the date of entry into Stage Two; or after entering

Stage Two, the date upon which a player fails to comply with the

Treatment Plan or fails to cooperate with testing, treatment,

evaluation or other requirements imposed on him by this Policy,

both as determined by the Medical Director or has a Positive Test.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, without any notice a player will be

automatically and immediately advanced to Stage Three if while in

Stage Two he has any of the following:

(1) two Positive Tests; or

(2) two instances in which he fails to cooperate with

testing, treatment, evaluation or other requirements

imposed on him by this Policy or to comply with his

Treatment Plan; or

(3) one Positive Test and one instance of a failure to

comply with his Treatment Plan or cooperate with

testing, treatment, evaluation or other requirements

imposed on him by this Policy while in Stage Two.

d. Completion of Stage Two: A player who completes Stage Two

without being advanced to Stage Three will be afforded the same

status as a player who had never by Behavior or a Positive Test

been referred to the Intervention Stages.

Great find. Thanks for the post.

The big question is - will Henry play this week? They can't suspend him until the appeal is dropped, right? If the appeal isn't looked at until after Sunday, he technically can still play, correct?

Sportsline has it.Myfoxcolorado.com out, Fox Channel 31 out of Denver, is reporting Denver Broncos running back Travis Henry has tested positive for marijuana and might be subject to a one-year suspension. While playing for the Tennessee Titans in 2005, he received a four-game suspension. (Updated 10/04/2007).Henry might elect to appeal this violation, but if it is denied, he would be forced to start serving a one-year suspension immediately due to NFL rules. Under these rules, he can file for reinstatment 60 days prior to the end of the suspension. The Broncos signed him to a five-year contract during the offseason, something they might be kicking themselves for right about now if this report is true. Grab Selvin Young immediately in all Fantasy leagues.
