TRAVIS HENRY.........SOON A CARDINAL? (1 Viewer)

Is it worth it? I hope he gets traded somewhere so I can get some value out of him in my Dynasty league!Bills | Talking Henry Trade with Cardinals Again - from www.KFFL.comFri, 25 Mar 2005 18:18:04 -0800Correcting previous reports, ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Buffalo Bills and Arizona Cardinals have picked up discussions on a trade that would send disgruntled RB Travis Henry from Buffalo to Arizona in exchange for OT L.J. Shelton. The final hurdle that needs to be taken care of is that the Bills are also looking for the Cardinals to swap picks in the second round; meaning Buffalo would slide from the No. 55 overall spot down to the Cardinals No. 44 overall spot. The Cardinals, thus far, have not been willing to agree to that extra demand.

As a Bills fan, I love this. It's our first pick in the draft, so moving up is pretty big. If not, we have a good backup RB to McGahee. Or/and we have a whiney malcontent. Either way, I'm not worried about it shaking up McGahee. He's go through too much already, including some supposed hardcore trashtalking from Portis while at the U, to be thrown off his game by some complaining by Henry. They also have some real solid vet leaders in Moulds, Spikes, Clements, etc. Hold out for the 44th, Tom.

TRADE TALKS BACK ON.

TRAVIS HENRY AND THE #55 PICK FOR LJ SHELTON AND THE #44 PICK
Scouts Inc chat yesterday suggested the same thing. I believe it was Todd McShay who said something to the effect that this deal WILL happen before the draft, which opens the door for Arizona to select one of the corners (Rolle or Pac Man) with the 8th pick.

I almost posted this yesterday, but a lot of the folks in Phoenix consider it old news so I held off. Here's the story:Start of free agency and the Cards and Bills talk about a deal. Shelton for Henry seems like a win-win. Problem is that the teams can't agree on a fair price. The Bills think that in addition to the player swap, that the two teams should swap second round picks, moving the Bills up 10 spots or so in the second round. Not only do the Cardinals not want to swap picks, but they think the Bills should throw in a draft pick as well. So the talks die.But then two weeks ago, ESPN reports that a deal is still likely to get done. It just makes too much sense. The Cardinals are the only team interested in Henry. While there are several teams interested in Shelton, the Cards view Henry as the best value they could get for him. So the teams need to get a deal done. There were originally reports that the sticking point was a contract extention, but this is a non-issue. Henry will not be getting an extention until he proves he can get it done. Dennis Green has said that Henry will play out his contract and if his performance warrants it, he will get a new deal.So the latest news, and its been reported various places, is that the Cards have dropped their demand for an additional pick from the Bills. The Cards are now willing to do the swap straight up. So it seems the ball is in Buffalo's court. If they also drop their demand for additional compensation, it will get done.I think this deal is going to happen and it wouldn't surprise me if it happens soon instead of on draft day. Its just one of those rare situations where both teams would benefit. I think the price has been established and neither team is willing to add to the player for player swap.

Let's say the deal gets done.Henry is the primary back, easy enough.Who's #2? Shipp? the Card's 2nd rounder? A later pick?

What does this do to mock drafts? I'm worried that this could have a negative effect on my fantasy team. I have Deshaun Foster as my 3rd RB, I would hope this doesn't open the door for one of the big 3 to fall into the Panthers lap. :X

I own Henry in jaWs & I'm hoping like heck this gets done. It would really be a good situation for him, IMO. This deal would allow Arizona to get much-needed help on defense (probably CB) or at QB (if one falls), as well as fill other holes on day-1 (besides RB).

If they're this close, I'd be willing to bet it gets done. :crossing fingers:

To paraphrase what McShay said:- The deal will happen in the next couple of days.

- The Cards will agree to trade down in the 2nd round moving from 44 to 55.

I agree with the former but not the latter.

Henry was part of a 3 for 1 me and Rudnicki did for Portis in Z10. If he gets traded, i'll feel good about how things turned out. If not.... :X (Deal was Portis for Henry, D. Graham, and 1.11 which I have since traded for Witten)Colin

If the Cards do get Henry and take a corner with the #8, count on the Cats taking an RB. Davis is done, and Foster can't take a 25-carry a game, 16-week season. Nice flashes, however, but not solid enough to depend on.

I was thinking of keeping Foster and using him as my 3rd RB. Now i feel this whole Henry thing is going to bite me in the rear end. Should I trade Foster for the 1.5 rookie pick? Would probaly get braylon edwards/mike williams. My other rbs are willis & kj.

Considering that the RB likely to fall is Benson, and he's going to be in everyone's top-10 anyway, I'd say that Carolina would love to get their hands on him and MIGHT even trade up ahead of Houston if he (Benson) makes it to 11 or 12.Colin

Foster for the 1.05? Absolutely, IMOCOlin

One more update, contradicting what McShay said:Pat Kirwan appeared on the NFL Network yesterday. He said that he had spoken to Buffalo's GM and here's the update:Cards and Bills have agreed on the compensation. It will be a player for player swap. However, what he said next appears to be a bit contradictory. First, he said the Cardinals are currently holding the deal up because they want to see if Cedric Benson drops to their spot. But then he said that if the deal were to happen, it would happen a day or two before the draft. He also mentioned the Cards would go CB with the #8 spot. How would the Cardinals know if Benson will be available a day or two before the draft?Anyway, I think its clear that it'll be a player for player swap and has a good chance of happening. As an aside, there is a lot of speculation based on a series of comments by Green/Graves that if the Henry deal is consumated, it won't be CB that the Cards target at #8, but LB Derrick Johnson. Again, just speculation at this point, but something to remember.

Henry signed the contract extension because he was broke.  His new agent at the time wanted to get paid right away, so he screwed Henry.  The agent should have got Henry a loan from a bank (what bank wouldn't loan Henry money?), and then when Henry had some bargaining power the next year, he should have gone after the big bucks.

People always want to blame the player, but more often than not it is the agent who messes up, or gets greedy.  Remember agents get a percentage of the contracts they broker.
As depressing as your post is, it's hard to disagree with you.
Actually, from this post, it is all Henry's fault.Who spent all of Henry's money so he would be broke? Henry

Who picked the agent? Henry

Who signed the extension? Henry

Agents represent the player. If the player does not like the agent or does not like how he is being represented, he fires the agent. Pretty simple.

I'd trade Foster for the 1.5 without Henry going to Arizona.I just don't think Foster is ever going to be an elite guy. Serviceable, maybe. Trade him androll the dice that Benson, Brown, B. Edwards, M. Williams or Caddilac turns into the stud you envisioned when you drafted Foster.

If the Henry deal gets done, you just might be right. I think Arizona will then go QB or D. I also have my doubts about Miami taking a RB with pick 2. I believe there's a better chance they'll go QB, D, or trade down. I have Alex Smith or Rodgers to the 9ers, Cleveland taking Edwards, Brown going to Chicago at 4, Mike Williams at 5 to Tampa Bay, & Tennessee going D or OL. If Minnesota passes on a RB at 7 (& doesn't trade down), both Caddy & Benson could be available at 14 for Carolina.I'm probably way off on my "mock", but if Henry does go to the Cards, there's a good chance one of the big-3 RBs will be there at 14, IMO. I could see Houston taking a RB, though.
