Trent Green owners thread (1 Viewer)

We all felt pretty good last week when we loaded up on RBs and WRs and grabbed Green soometime around the eighth round of the draft. Now, after seeing the ugliest hit of the day and seeing our QB toted out of the stadium on a cart, immobilized and not moving, we don't feel quite as smart. If you other Green-owners are anything like me, you're feeling the need to make a move...

At this time, the pickings at QB on the WW are likely to be slim, and potential traders have you right where they want you. I thought we could use this thread to comment on updates on Green, and discuss possible moves.

In my 12 team, performance league, I have Kitna as my backup QB. I didn't see any of the Seattle-Detroit game today, but Kitna's numbers looked like dogmeat. The available leftovers on the WW include Rivers, Carr, Losman, Grossman, Collins, Pennington, Frye and ASmith. None of these guys looked good enough to carry my team for any length of time, but I'm obviously not getting too far with Kitna, either. I'm thinking of picking up Pennington or Rivers, and playing the matchups if Green is out for any length of time.

Hoping Green's injury isn't as bad as it looked... :wall:

I own Green in a 14-team league, and actually platoon him with Bledsoe & Favre. Not sure I'm going to make a move at this point. If Green is out, I'll IR him and pick someone up.

But if Rivers is on your wire, run do not walk to pick him up. Honestly, your league's wire sounds like there is plenty of worthwhile QBs. Ours is much thinnger. Heck, Vince Young & Leinart are rostered.

All signs look like he'll be ok (thankfully). He'll have a BIG ol' headache. Hopefully they'll rest him a bit this week and he'll be able to go next week. But if he needs to sit out a week, then so be it. I'd rather they be cautious with him early on, then push it...

Same here, bro. I took Trent as my starter with Kitna as my backup. I think Green will be back after the week 3 bye, but that leaves next week. And I'm sure as shootin' not starting Kitna against the Chicago D, especially at Soldier Field.

My choices for a one week fill-in include Grossman (not--I'm a Bears homer, but not insane), A. Smith at home vs. St. Louis, Pennington at home vs. New England, Collins on the road at San Diego, Simms at Atlanta, or Losman at Miami

Leaning towards Alex Smith or Pennington.

Chiefs | Green injury update

Published Sun Sep 10 11:01:00 p.m. ET 2006

(KFFL) KCChiefs.com reports Kansas City Chiefs QB Trent Green's (head) condition is improving as he continues to stay at a local hospital for further evaluation. X-rays performed on Green's head and neck came back negative. "Obviously a pretty severe head trauma, but he had all his senses and feeling in his arms and legs," Chiefs President Carl Peterson said of Green's injury. "Actually, when he did wake up he remembered every play except the one that knocked him out. He's in the hospital right now, but the preliminary X-rays – and they did them of the neck and head – are all negative. So, we're being very optimistic and hopeful."

I'd treat it like your on a plane during a terrorist threat. Remain in a holding pattern until you receive further info. BTW, I haven't heard anyone say that they have x-rayed his back.

I've got Ron Mexico backing him up in one league and Kurt Warner in another (I actually started Kurt over him this week) so I should be OK, assuming Vick and Kurt don't implode.

I have Vick and Green. After Vick's performance this week vs Carolina, I'm not going to hesitate to start him vs Tampa, but I'll keep an eye on how Green progresses for the next couple of days.

I know this doesn't help those Green owners that don't have another QB of note.

I'll wait and see how my backup (Rivers) looks before I begin looking for plan C. Which I have to find anyway, because both Green and Rivers have a bye on week 3.
