Trick or Treat......The Atlanta Falcons Players Forward (1 Viewer)

As a Vick owner I got thinking about this today. With the terrible shape the secondary is in (see this post 4 details)

I think that the following Falcons players should expect changes in value:

Vick: Upgrade (hopefully). They will have to score to keep up given how bad the passing DEF will be for ATL. Teams will back off, making sure not to give up long ball. Long Vick scrambles will be very common.

Crumpler: Big upgrade. They will have to throw more often and score to keep up. Crump is clearly the red zone threat.

Falcons WRs: Not that I'd ever start them, but I'd have to think in deep leagues their value can only go up.

Dunn: Someone has to drop off right. Never a focus near the goal line and possibly playing from behind will mean reduced carries.

Those are my thoughts, how about yours?

Won't matter if the Falcons are in shoot outs or not, if Crump & the WR's keep up the brick mason work.

Correction...Crump will still get his, whether he drops 2 or 3 a game or not...due to the sheer volume of targets going his way.

Good point, I stand corrected, 2 goaline TDs (in 8 games). He clearly has become a dominant goal line force. So I guess Dunn should be upgraded as well.

Let's see, after the initial post which I thought had merit we have found out:

1. Shootouts will not upgrade Falcon WR's

2. Dunn has become a goal line force

I sense sarcasm.

Sarcastic reply to a sarcastic reply, sorry I know it's ugly. I should be better than that, but I guess I'm not. Either way, Falcons are destined to be in shootouts given the big injuries in the defensive backfield. Reminds me of NE early last year (which propelled Brady to lead the league in passing). Probably an upgrade for all Falcons offensive players.

In fairness to the argument, early in the season when the Falcons were extremely pathetic in the red zone and particularly from within the 10 - I think part of the reason for that early ineptitude was their reluctance to rely on Dunn for those tough yards. With that said, the Falcons improved performance in this area of the field seems to also correlate with the Falcons trusting and having faith in Dunn now there - or at the very least, giving him the opportunity to punch it in moreso. As for upgrades...I don't know if you can upgrade Crumpler anymore than he has been already. But between Jenkins and Lelie, I simply don't think either one will be prolific because Crumpler is option #1 and even with Vick's improved showing in the passing game - he's spread the wealth for the most part outside of Crumpler. As for Vick, the thing that's interesting about him is that even after a fairly bad game, you look up and he's put up 18-20 points. His rushing totals really mitigate the risk in playing him. That said, the talk around Atlanta is whether or not the Falcons can avoid another 2nd half collapse with the injuries mounting. IMO, a big key for the Falcons to avoid this fate is Vick putting the team on his back and simply taking games over - which he's starting to show he can do again.

CB Bodden Out Vs. Atlanta

Jeff Walcoff, ClevelandBrowns.com - [Full Article]

Cleveland Browns CB Leigh Bodden will miss Sunday's game vs. Atlanta, HC Romeo Crennel said Friday. Bodden had been listed as doubtful Wednesday and Thursday. Without Bodden, the team will be forced to go into the game with Daven Holly, Ralph Brown, Jereme Perry and newly-acquired Mike Hawkins as their primary CBs. Holly and Perry are both still questionable for the matchup.

The Browns are now without their top three cornerbacks. In Cleveland's eyes, they probably couldn't have picked a better opponent with the Falcons propensity to run the ball, but maybe Atlanta will take advantage of the matchup and rely on Vick's arm this week.
