True Detective: Tom went in to listen to the Cardinals game...in November. Mmmmmhmmmm... (1 Viewer)

I agree with whoever it was that said the Mexicans seemed pretty extraneous. Why add that whole level of confusion/interaction? Just a big, dumb red herring? SANTA MUERTE!

ETA: I guess the same could be said about mystery Jewish diamond guy and the Armenian (?) donut drug guys. I love how every criminal group is solely divided by race. Russians, Mexicans, Jews, oh my!

Hoped they were setting up season 3 in the safe house room at the bar with Velcro and Mean Girl sharing cigs whole Frank loaded weapons and yammered on about people thinking he couldn't do it.

The singer is a brilliant way to keep prying eyes from the joint.

SOA takes it a step further and has all of the criminals refer to all of the various organizations by "color", e.g. "We have to convince black that brown is pushing heroin through the jails."

Dunno if they ever used yellow. But there were Chinese gangs.

Yes, I think at one point they referred to the final gang build up as "it is going to be black and white versus brown and yellow."

Other great parts of SOA/thread:

-Katey Segal is a main actor in this show. She was also very attractive in her day, but now she's in her 60's and is literally a grandmother on the show. However, this does not stop Gemma from a) worrying about getting pregnant, b) constantly being hit on by scumbags who are 40 years younger than her.

-One guy got drowned in piss.

-Another guy bit off his own tongue as a "#### you" to the cops. He's no rat, man!

-One character spoke in such a thick brogue that nobody ever knew what the #### he was saying for 7 seasons.

-Another guy had cancer for 7 seasons and never really beat it or died.

-Kurt Sutter, the show's auteur, would patiently explain to us dopes in interviews how SOA was "Shakesperean" and a "morality play." I think there was some attempt to follow the plot of Hamlet but I think that just kind of went off the rails after awhile.

-Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love were in the last season. Manson's a worse actor than the real Manson.

You forgot the part where she is married to the showrunner who took particular pleasure in featuring her getting banged from behind by assorted motorcycle gang members and also raped by neo-Nazis.

How can you make a "Greatest Hits of SOA" and not have tranny Walton Goggins on the list?

Maybe I do need to watch Soa.
Other stuff:

-Carmelo Anthony plays a henchman in the final season. He has like two lines and appears in 3 episodes? Actually 100% true.

-The final season, there was an after-show. At first it was hosted by some C-level Los Angles comedian, but he was always ill-prepared and terrible and eventually Sutter just took over and was the host.

-The actor who plays the lead character, Jax, is British. He plays an American. Yet, as the show wore on, he just got tired of speaking in an American accent, and entire passages of dialogue sounded like something from Downton Abbey.

-Jax dying was completely given away before the episode aired because Amazon accidentally shipped a compendium book out a week early.

-There were a lot of car chases. If they were chasing black guys, the chase was set to a rap song. White dudes, metal, etc. Also a lot of the shows ended with montages with famous songs being covered terribly by, one would assume, the bar band that plays in the bar closest to Kurt Sutter's home.

It's all on Netflix.

Considering you're a known fisherman I don't believe you.

Oh, in one of the last episodes the Obligatory Car/Bike Chase was set to like, latin jazz? I think that was actually my favorite part of the last season.

You're a terrible person but I shoot straight on all matters SOA.

Why not immediately go to the FBI when you have the evidence? Show's over then, I guess. Let's fight 'em all! Three against the world!

Maybe I do need to watch Soa.

So basically you could just make up anything about SOA and it would be totally believable. Like, they brought in Jose Canseco to play a rival gang boss in one episode.

Isn't there already a Sons of Anarchy thread?....Let's keep this about the Best Show of the Summer....TRUE D !!!!

Still wondering if scar over eye Latina has turned the Black Rose around and got some patrons in there to enjoy Vinci's greatest solo female guitarist ?
They were losing too much business from patrons killing themselves due to the bleak lyrics (sometimes in the restaurant - even hardened blues singers like Blind Lemon Jefferson), so she went folk and is doing Joni Mitchell covers.

See if you can figure out which ones are true and which ones are false:

Tom Arnold and David Hasselhoff both play porn producers

Malcolm Jamal-Warner plays a biker

Danny Trejo plays a CIA agent

Stephen King plays a guy who gets rid of dead bodies

Joel McHale plays a dude who willingly bangs a 60 year old Peg Bundy

Peter Weller (Robocop) plays a cop.

Haven't seen the show, but going to guess: ALL TRUE

True Detective - Season 1

Re-watched this for the first time since the initial airing. I remember this season as being great, and I was wrong: it's a masterpiece. This season is better than most films. Better writing, better acting, better photography, and better plot. Brilliant. I don't think I will ever tire of watching this show. I think it's relevant to touch on Season 2 here. A lot of people were disappointed with season 2. I get that. Season 1 is a lot better. But this is like saying Casino isn't as good as Goodfellas. Ok, so it isn't as good. Slap a new title on True Detective Season 2, and you have a very good 8 hours of television. Season 2 is still a great deal better than 80% of TV shows

Any word on season 3 yet?

Any truth to the rumor of Sly Stallone being teamed up with Jessica Alba as a detective team?

I agree. Season 2's problem is that it followed Season 1

i have like a spidey sense for sons of anarchy which might be the dumbest show ever so it was like i felt a disturbance in the crap force and had to check in here i do not know a damn thing about this true detective thing but i do know that sons of anarchy had a leprechaun and an irish jig as a theme song by season two which means it jumped the shark before the show actually started and that my bromigthren is crap of such an epic proportion that it need not warrant discussion just awe swc over and out take that to the bank
