Glad they brought that other director in (Blue Ruin and Green Room, two damn good movies) but I wish he was going to do the whole season a la Fukunaga. Not crazy about Nic P directing.

Yeah I’m surprised how excited I am for this after the season 2 letdown. I suppose that’s a testament to how great season 1 was at the time. 

This might actually get me to grab HBO Now in January instead of waiting til Game of Thrones is back.

Season 2 was like blue balls for the heart

 
I didn't even watch Season 2 but looking forward to this one.  Btw,  did anyone like Season 2?  I've yet to read a good review.

If you go in not having the expectation of season 1, it’s ok. Like a C overall maybe. I didn’t hate it, but it wasn’t great either. Overall I’d say it gave me blue balls of the heart. 

 
Just re watched season 1 - more awesome the second time.

I recall a lot of people complaining that the show didn;t wrap up tidy - I think it would have taken away from the story if they did.  I am not sure the story would even hold up when you would have to peel back the conspiracy onion.

 
I'm not sure where I am on this I love season 1 stabbed my eyeballs after season 2 not sure I want to start season 3

I thought I read this would link them somehow, but I could be wrong 

That said I’d  expect it to be more of an Easter egg than a major plot development 

also season 2 had some bad moments but overall not terrible.  I’d give it a C, better than a lot of crap out there 

 
I don't need it to be season 1. I just need it not to be season 2. Thank God, it is good. Really good.

Great cast. Story seems solid. Feels familiar to season 1, with the theme and the setting and Ali being a rebooted McConaughey. But still holds up on its own, so far.

 
I saw in the credits McConaughey is in a producing role in Season 3,

Solid first 2 episodes. Ali has some creepy piercing dark eyes. Excellent role for him.

 
I only watched the first episode so far but it seems they basically copied the formula from season 1... serial killer, creepy town, interviews from the future, discussions in the car between the two partners. This is not a bad thing. I loved it!

 
Seeing horrible reviews online.  Is this an other Westworld?  I don't have inclination to give HBO any more money after that #### show

Agree completely.  I love the multiple timelines as a way to give bits and pieces about what happened to heighten the mystery. It's more interesting to me than a straightforward police investigation. 

I also think season 2 was hurt by being set in LA which we've seen a million times. Setting it in parts of the country most of us don't know much about makes it seem more real.   Plus Vince Vaughn was terrible.
