Tush Push - Do the rules apply for this play or not? Doesn't seem like it (1 Viewer)

Another Tush Push, another clear false start. Seriously, WTF?!?!?

This is bad, even by NFL referee standards.
Are all these false starts at all related to defenses simulating snap counts?
Give me a break with that

The Eagles had multiple offensive lineman aggressively in the neutral zone, no call. ...but those same officials were all over a "normal" 4th down sneak false start by the Packers

I didn’t see the play. Was losing my mind when I realized YouTube didn’t have the game. And Disney/hulu didn’t either.

Might be a separate convo about the simulated counts, but that’s been happening a lot more frequently and it’s absolute 🐎 poop

I guess it more about leg strength than protecting their QB.
Barner’s 6’6”, 235 lb. frame is ideal, as there’s no other quarterback in the NFL with the leg strength of Jalen Hurts. Barner, on the other hand, could pass as a rugby player on looks, and is ideal for the usage of a play the Eagles imported from the sport of rugby. The Seahawks will keep using Barner on it until someone can stop them, and if Philadelphia’s any indication, it won’t be anytime soon. No football defense can stop this play because it’s simply from another sport.

This one was so egregious. I don't see how the refs can't see them moving way before the ball moved. Don't tell me they can't officiate the play because the replay clearly shows the line moving way before the ball is snapped. I can see them missing borderline calls but this one was Just ridiculous.
Agreed. Any defense of the officials at this point is just laughable. You can see an official staring directly down the line of scrimmage as two Eagles linemen move early and into the neutral zone before the ball is snapped, yet no flag was thrown.

Yeah, I'm sympathetic to the idea that the slo-mo replays aren't always fair to the refs on the marginal ones. The left guard on that play was obvious in real time to me. Aikman mentioned it as well. Plays like that make me entertain the idea that we may be having reviewable pass interference redux where the officials are intentionally changing the way they officiate the play in an attempt to get the league to change the rules in the offseason.
