[Dan Lambskin]

Jeffrey Tambor and Julia-Louis Dreyfuss are tough to beat here, but I'd put my namesake's frequent collaborator Bob Odenkirk up there on the second tier with Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and Mr Show along with a supporting role on Fargo and guest appearances on pretty much every great comedy of the last two decades.

Michael C Hall (who was actually the lead in two great shows until Dexter tanked in the later years) and Danny DeVito are both one great show short of taking over this thing.

Rooting around in IMDB can be informative.

I thought maybe Harry Morgan, and sure enough there's Dragnet and MASH. I was sure he was in a third, but not so.

I see he was in 72 episodes of a show called Pete and Gladys in '60-'61. I have never heard of it, and don't know how popular it was (maybe the fact it was only 2 seasons answers that), but now I have.

When you see all of these different shows actors have been in, it shows how difficult a "hit" really is to stumble into.

Kind of did the same thing with Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond, Fargo) but while I liked Til Death (especially the bugnuts 'we are getting cancelled, let's do whatever the F we want' final season) it'll never be considered "great".

Michael Emerson (Lost, Person of Interest) is getting a little long in the tooth to make it to 3. Most of the younger guys who have two good ones (like Jason Segal) get swallowed up into the movie path

Gerald McRaney always seems to pop up on some very good stuff (House of Cards, Deadwood, etc.) but when he's been asked to carry the show (Major Dad, Simon and Simon) the results have been mixed at best.

My sleeper pick is David Boreanaz (Buffy, Angel, Bones) All excellent shows that he was either the #1 or #1a in.
