U2 in Concert (1 Viewer)

Yeah, that part sucks--I'd already renewed in July.
I became a subscriber in 2017 and then didn't even get to go to the show.  I saw the concert annoucement and got excited that I could still use this.  not so much now.  Sucks.

As you're a new subscriber, I'd ask you to not assume it's like this every year/tour. Been a member of the community for more than 15 years and other than one issue with Ticketmaster in '05, something like this has never happened (where we've had to renew again).

My guess is with the new Ticketmaster verification process, they had to update all of the presale codes and member rosters to fit a particular format.

Check out the Zoonation forums at U2.com. I believe if you didn’t use your JT2017 Tour code for any tickets you will receive an IETour presale code without renewing again in advance as long as your membership is current and you do the TM Verification by November 14th.

thanks GB!

U2 is going to be on SNL after the album release in December. I usually like them on the late night circuit.

Just registered to be a verified fan to be able to purchase tickets for their upcoming tour.

I presume this means I can't resell?

It just means you are paying for the right to buy tickets.

As much as I like U2's music, they are such money grubbers, but what do you expect from a band that is in bed with Live Nation.

Nope.  Being verified fan was free on ticketmaster.  (This isn't joining the U2 fan club.)

They will send a text the morning of to use when I try to buy tickets.  At least thats how I understand it.

Got my presale code this morning. I'm not sure if it's better to join the rush today to get tickets, or wait to see if they add a second show and then have better selection of tickets.   I'll at least see what's available today. Seems like they always play at least 2 shows in Chicago and their schedule allows for more shows.

I’m waiting.  They will add at least 10 more shows.  Probably 4 more in NYC alone.  This is how Live Nation does it now.

That was interesting.  Just as I was zooming in on Level 100 available tickets, I watched all of them disappear!  I'm going to wait and check back later.

General Admission has been like $70 plus tax and fees for the last few shows. Best to be on the floor anyway.

I don't understand those bashing U2 as money grubbers as they do the tour thing better than most anyone, especially with how huge they are. Verified Fan doesn’t cost anything but you’re next in line after U2.com Verified Fan tiers.

For those wondering about the U2.com subscription, you always get a gift each year such as lithographs or vinyl record set. Sometimes free music. Also, with each tour ticket bought I believe you receive the album free. Let’s not forget we got the free album from Apple too. If only other mega-bands offered as much.

Guy Osery and the Tickemaster goons just pull the strings.   Prey on fan club members to buy mediocre to crap Tickets released early; reserve the best seats for worthless packages that include a laniard and other junk; divert most good tickets to their own secondary vendors with inflated prices.

Then, as show gets closer, release Unsold tickets at new price points to maximize profit.  Then add shows as they minimize risk while artificially inflating early demand.

which is fine.  Smart business even.  Just don’t sell me your load of crap that you care about the fans and keeping tickets from scalpers.  You care about making money.  Full stop.  Yachts don’t fuel themselves up...

Got my tix today for May.  I re-upped my subscriber a month ago to have access to presale tickets.  When first Chicago show went on sale a couple of weeks ago, all good seats seem to vanish before my eyes, but at least it gave me a sense for going ticket prices and what to expect when sales begin.  Second Chicago show presale started yesterday to Wave 1 subscribers with Wave 2 today (I'm in Wave 2).

I was doing browser refresh when sale was to begin at noon for Wave 2 today.  At 12:05, there were still no seats unlocked for my wave, but then I see 2 RedZone tickets available.  I snag those to my cart and then open up second window to see how the presale is going.  I can see that I can probably get good 100 Level seats, but RedZone is on floor and just a little bit more expensive.  I buy the RedZone tix and didn't even use my subscriber code.  Tix are just shy of $400 ea all in, but looks like these will be good experience (they better be for $400!!).

If they add a third show, I can think about using my presale code, but I've spent enough for one day.

just bought 2 for Mad Square garden in June- christmas present for the wife (her favorite band) and kid (it will be 10yo floppinho's first real concert).

eta: (presale through citicard... even though I used am-ex to purchase)

Do they release more tickets over time?  I caught them twice this year and wouldn't mind picking up tickets again for the summer somewhere, but I'm not interested in paying $200+.  May drive down to Tulsa in May and drink in the parking lot.

Annnnnd they've just announced the first (American) leg of the E&I 2018 Tour: http://www.u2.com/soe_na
Huge U2 fan......so much so that in 2017, i joined the U2.com subscriber and saw them in Tampa in June.  However, i couldn't wait for that concert and i "cyber-stalked" each tour date before and after the Tampa gig, looking at video clips from the concerts and every set list http://www.u2.com/tour/date/id/45561469  (to cycle thru the dates, click on Arrows in the upper right).

FYI:  U2 released the SONGS OF EXPERIENCE album today (DEC 1st)..........BTW:   the girl pictured on the album cover is Edge's daughter.

As far as the 2018 tour, i'm disappointed in the fact that the only tour date in the entire Southeast is ATL  (and that's why i didn't renew my $50 U2.com subscription)
I'm hoping they add more dates.

MAY 4 ST. LOUIS, MO SCOTTRADE CENTER:    Good to see that U2 included STL on this 2018 tour as the 2017 Joshua Tree tour date was cancelled due to STL protest violence.

They’ve added more dates once already and will likely add more. I’m saving my code until they add Minneapolis. Renewal is $40, not $50.

They are so horrible.

Someone stole my Apple ID and downloaded their last ####ty album.  I reported it and they let me keep all the new songs.

I deleted all of them because it's just crud.  They need to hang it up, not everyone can be the Rolling Stones.
