Report: Frankie Edgar, Benson Henderson Managers in Post-UFC 150 FightAugust 12, 2012By Brian CantorMMA reporter Ariel Helwani Tweeted early Sunday morning that the managers for Frankie Edgar and Benson Henderson got into a scuffle following UFC 150.A background argument could unmistakably be heard during the UFC 150 press conference, and according to Helwani, it involved Edgar’s manager Ali Abdelaziz and Henderson’s manager Malki Kawa.“If you’re wondering what the brouhaha was during the presser, I’m told Frankie’s mgr @alidominance and Bendo’s mgr @malkikawa got into a scuffle,” wrote Helwani. “Not sure who won, but I’m told it was the opposite of the main event, if you catch my drift. For whatever it’s worth, Ali and his team say he punched Malki in the face. It seems like they didn’t like what he had to say after the main event, although, I’m not quite sure what was said.”Given the fact that Henderson won the UFC 150 bout with Frankie Edgar, Helwani’s Tweet strongly implies that Abdelaziz got the better of Kawa in the scuffle. Reacting to the implication, Kawa wrote, “@arielhelwani so now you go off of one side and that’s how you do???? That’s not what happened but great job in being a #### head reporter.”He also responded “yeah right” to an accusation that he got “beat up” at the event.
Frankie's manager has now finished more fights than Frankie.

Bastards opened lines for Diaz-Henderson and Gustaffason-Rua and the lines have been f'n flying. Get 'em while you can:

Diaz + 190

Gustaffason -145

I love both of these, but the funds where i can get to these bets are low :( i put in what i can for now, and i guarantee the lines will keep moving

Gustaffason -145
This should be interesting. I know it was 2 years ago, but Phil Davis absolutely embarrassed Gustafsson in the cage. Rua doesn't look like he has "it" anymore so I dunno how he'll fare. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of fights for Alex at LHW right now since Machida is getting a title shot. A rematch with Davis or a fight against Evans would be his best test.

Holy crap - what a finish in tonight's Legacy 13. Am I the only one that watches the small cards on AXS.tv?

I used to watch all the HDNet fights but haven't for a few months now. There's so much UFC/Strikeforce I don't have the time for all the others. What fight was it? I'll look for it on the net.

:goodposting: if there is one on when i'm not expecting anything i'll stop and catch it, but i have found myself not looking for each card like i used to. it's funny because i always agreed with Dana about wanting a weekly UFC card like Tuesday Night Fights, but i do find i don't watch every card like i used to

Derrick Lewis v. Jared RosholtI record everything and watch it late Friday night / Saturday night. I guess I'm the junkie.

I have to say, I am really looking forward to a potential Rousey-Cyborg fight. Glad to see Rhonda's stand-up looks like it is getting better, and i think that fight will be in the UFC. I don't know if they should put it on Fox, but that fight will sell whatever they put it on. So who wins??

Zuffa Has Canceled UFC 151, Jon Jones To Face Lyoto Machida At UFC 152

Due to an unfortunate late injury to UFC light heavyweight title challenger Dan Henderson, Zuffa has decided to cancel the entire UFC 151 card just nine days before it was supposed to go down in Las Vegas. UFC president Dana White stated that Chael Sonnen was in place to fight Jon Jones, but Jones turned it down and they were forced to cancel the event. Jones will now face Lyoto Machida at UFC 152 on September 22nd.

"So this is probably one of my all time lows as being president of the UFC....for the first time in 11 years, we're gonna cancel an event," Dana White said. "UFC doesn't have to cancel events, we can always find a replacement. For someone to replace Jon Jones on 8 days notice is tough to do. But to be totally honest with you guys. One guy did say 'i'll take the fight. I'll fly to Las Vegas tonight'. Chael Sonnen."

"But Jon Jones said 'I'm not fighting Chael Sonnen on eight days notice."

Henderson has a partial tear of his MCL, and Dana stated that they can't wait around to see when he's going to be okay.

There is no plan in place for the other fights on the card at this point.
Here's UFC 152's now suddenly more awesome card:Jon Jones vs. Lyoto Machida - for light-heavyweight titls

Joseph Benavidez vs. Demetrious Johnson - for flyweight title

Michael Bisping vs. Brian Stann

Evan Dunham vs. T.J. Grant

Matt Hamill vs. Vladimir Matyushenko

Charles Oliveira vs. Cub Swanson

Vinny Magalhaes vs. Igor Pokrajac

Dan Miller vs. Sean Pierson

Marcus Brimage vs. Jim Hettes

Seth Baczynski vs. Simeon Thoresen

Mitch Gagnon vs. Walel Watson

Seriously? For not taking a fight vs a chump who couldn't hack it at middleweight and accepting a much tougher fight a few weeks later?

i'd say that's about right.
So taking a fight vs a tougher opponent instead of mediocre middleweight makes one a wuss. Fascinating.

maybe i take this quote the wrong way but:

But Jon Jones said 'I'm not fighting Chael Sonnen on eight days notice" means that he would need more time to prepare to fight him.

not sure on this, but i am thinking there have been replacements like this in the past where fighters have to get another opponent on last minutes notice.

if you are healthy and ready to fight for that day, why not just take the fight?

When was the last time a title fight was changed on 8 days notice? I can't think of one. He is taking a fight vs the #1 contender in a month. Makes a lot more sense to do that than taking one vs a middleweight washout.

Why on earth would it be Sonnen to get the fight? He just got beaten at 185 by Silva so he goes up a weight class and gets an automatic title shot? :bs: I thought he was going to leave the UFC forever. Guess that didn't last too long.

Good for Jones.

I'm so sick of these last minute injuries. What a friggin bummer.

I credit Sonnen for wanting to fight, but I can see why Jones declined. It's a no-win situation for him.

152 seems like a good card, but Machida was choked out on his feet the last time he was in the octagon against Jones.

There have been short notice substitutions, but this sub is from another weight division and a title fight. There's too much at stake to just accept the challenge. That's the state of modern MMA.

i remember ricky story and charlie brenneman off top of my head taking fights last minute, but can't remember a title shot.if ufc was trying to save the card, having never cancelled an event, and someone stepped up, think jones shuld have took the fight.if machida has been training, why not have him fight on the card?no biggie either way, just thought if the boss is saying we got a replacement and we need to save the card that he should have fought.

Story/Brenneman was a main event on a Spike card. Not even close to the same relevance. There are plenty of short notice fights in the lower ranks. The cancelling of the card is on Dana, not on Jones. Remember UFC 149? Dana didn't cancel it and the ENTIRE main card was changed, not just the main event. He is trying to pin this on Jones because they don't want to have another event with a terrible buy rate. Both 149 and 150 (150 being the worst since 2005) were huge dropoffs in buys.I don't know why Machida wouldn't take it at this card. Too short of time for a title fight? Still hurting from his last fight? Too far overweight? In the middle of an intense part of his training? Tons of possible reasons.ETA: Just to note: I really don't like Jones at all. I was hoping to see a Hendo bomb crush his face in.

If Sonnen will fight anyone anywhere, then why not make the fight non-title? Sonnen gets to headline a card, Jonea probably eats him for a snack, and the rest of the fighters on the card don't get ####ed. Win-win-win for everyone.

all very good points cliff.i liked the humble jon jones before he won and just wanting him to get a reality check and come back down to earth may have clouded my judgement.

Fighters all piling on Jones

michael ‏@bispingJones said he's not fighting chael on 8 days notice. I did. .... Just sayin
Vinny Magalhaes@VinnyMMAHow to ruin an entire event #BonesKnows
Charlie Brenneman@SpaniardMMAMe n @rick_story took a fight on 24 hrs norice!! Champ what?!?! @ufc
Mackens Semerzier@MackDaMenaceMMACancel the whole damn event? What happend to "I'll fight whoever the @ufc tells me to" or does that only apply to fighting "friends"?
Michael Chiesa@MikeMav2299.999% of @UFC fighters will be "company men" and help our organization if needed. @sonnench is a company man, @jonnybones is selfish.
Luazon:"Not only has this screwed over all the fans that bought tickets, non refundable airfare, took off work, made arrangements, etc... but think of all the fighters. Fighters that put in full camps, flew people in that helped them trains, etc. By the time I am actually fight, I spend close to 20k between corners, flights, expenses, coaches, etc... and then to have the whole show cancelled because ONE guy didn't want to fight. This ONE guy that had trained an entire camp, who was the CHAMP and at the top of his weight class, who was going to fight someone who didn't do the camp, and was fighting UP a weight class.I have always been a big Jon Jones supporter... but I would be FURIOUS if this happenned to me and I was on the card. To call is scorched earth wouldn't do it justice. "
Hendo:Henderson said: “This is the first time that the champion wouldn't step up and fight, and I was pretty shocked to hear that. It's not like he's injured. It's unbelievable to me that he wouldn't take that 'the show must go on' attitude. If there was any way I could have gone, and any way that I thought I could give myself a chance to compete, I would have done that."
Bet there's tons more where that came from. These are just the ones posted on a couple sites.

Fighters aren't very smart. Did Jones cancel the event or did Dana?
I am ticked at UFC as well. But the show would have gone on if Jones had accepted the challenge of a guy he would pummel. I don't care if they brought Ken Shamrock out of retirement to fight him.

Why couldn't the show have gone on anyway? Maybe cut the PPV price in half? Or just a crappy PPV? Get it on Fuel? I doubt they have anything that important running on a Saturday night. Dana did much more harm by cancelling the card than he would have by just having a ####ty card.

I would be interested to hear his take on it. The card was horrible even with Jones-Henderson, but I (and I would assume others who are flying a long distance) would rather see a card then none at all. So Dana definitely shoulders a lot of blame. With that said, it is still dissapointing that a champion wouldn't take on a fight of a guy with similar style to Henderson (but a far worse fighter) regardless of notice. He has been training for a fight next Saturday, it's not like he has to get into shape. He lost the respect of fellow fighters and lost a ton of fans, myself included.

Jones forced Dana's hand. Jones had a full camp. No one he that would have stepped in (Weidman also said he'd take the fight) would have had the same benefit. He's healthy. He should fight whoever they ask him too. In Pride 8 days is an eternity of notice. He is the champ and he needs to act like one instead of a spoiled brat. Besides, why would he need more time to train for Sonnen? they have the EXACT same gameplan. Overhand right/wrestling/overhand right/wrestling.

paraphrasing a quote I saw somewhere today --"I was planning on fighting a world class wrestler with KO power. What? You want me to fight a world class wrestler without KO Power? NO."
