UFC wagering: no longer stuck with the old thread title. The window to change it is here! (4 Viewers)

that does blow so hard for her though. Train for what 6-8 months, and you lose that fast. Feel horrible for her

I stand by my post earlier today... I really hope this had minimal buys.
i don't know, seeing Rousey fight is something special. People take it for granted, but this really is the evolution of Women's sports. I don't know if we will ever see a female athlete as dominant as this, and truly entertain the question is she could compete with the males in her sport. Cause i for one would have my money on Rousey against at least 33% of UFC male bantamweights, probably more.

Part of her dominance is the limited talent pool, there just isn't as much competition.

won't necessarily argue, but that still shouldn't take away from how talented she really is. Was Anderson Silva just average cause he had to fight Thales Leites or Travis Luter? Just think need to realize that this is something special

How many people in the world are training to go after the spider versus how many to go after Rousey?

I'm not saying she isn't great, but I'm fairly certain an up and coming amateur male weighing in at 120 would finish her in 9 seconds... The same way the UConn women are always awesome, it's just not the same thing IMO.

There I said it.

I agree she's awesome, but there's no way she would come close to beating any UFC men. I bet she'd have a hard time beating any of the top 100 bantamweight men.

you said it, but you'd be wrong. we won't get the chance to see it, but i don't care the odds. i'll take Rousey over an amateur male weighing 120 any day. silly to think she couldn't hang, she'd have that dude's arm twisted so awfully bad in 25 seconds it would be scary

Not a chance.

Any 120 pounder that is Ultimate Fighter type level of skills would end her life.

your telling me Julian Lane would beat Rousey? now you guys are just being silly. you don't think she trains with men all the time?

A lightweight? Yes, any on Earth... I was saying a Flyweight.

Actually, In all the training videos, we only see Rousey grappling with men but not sparring. At least the ones I've seen.

I think you guys are missing it, but oh well. She doesn't have to beat a male to be a top athlete or a truly special athlete like a Jordan or Montana. but to each their own. I just think it is hard to come up with any female athlete that seems to be this dominant or gifted.

ugh, post fight conference is sad. poor Cat Zingano. making a mistake like that, i can't imagine how badly she wants to get back in there

Ok, i thought of a somewhat bad comparison with this Rousey vs. a male. Think of Royce Gracie when he started. He beat dudes twice his side, with really horrible striking ability. I think you guys underestimate judo, and specifically Rousey's judo.

Something good to listen to is some of the breakdowns after fights of techniques and moves. Rousey's ability to set-up those armbars is something the BJJ specialists talk about as truly incredible. she has tons of ways to set it up, and when you hear the details of the techniques you can understand how she can stand a chance competing.

one of the best things about the UFC post-fight conferences is seeing Dana White makle fun of Ariel Helwanni. He does it every so often, but had a good one last night just making fun of a question he asked. I remember it got kind of nasty after the Nick Diaz-GSP fight

Don't agree at all.

There were women fighting for 10 years before Rousey stepped foot in the Octagon. There have been really good women fighters in the past, ... Tara LaRosa Rosi Sexton, Marloes Coenen, Gina Carano, Megumi Fujii, Sarah Kaufman, Cyborg ... probably others I'm forgetting. Most of these women traded wins and loses with each other and while some had nice runs, none of them were ever 10 miles in front of the pack. If lack of depth were the reason for someone being that far above their peers, Someone would have distanced themselves way before now. You could argue Cyborg was/is at that level, but she has a cloud of steroids over her legacy (and a wiener).

Rousey is a monster and a rare talent, not a byproduct of slim pickins.

Are y'all rehashing the Pacquiao vs. Matuski thread in here? GTFO. I'd take Rousey over a random TUF-level 120lb male any day. Sorry for anyone who can't appreciate how good of an athlete she is, regardless of one's views on women's MMA.

She is great, just like the UConn women are gnreat at basketball every year, but I'd take just about any high rated high school men's team over them.

An UF level 120 pounder would hospitalize her. Getting hit by a man and woman are not the same thing. Trying to overpower a highly trained man versus woman are not the same thing.

Nowhere am I saying that fighting a man is the same as fighting a woman. What I am saying is that Rousey is good enough to beat an average TUF male of an imaginary 120lb weight class, at the very least. The skill level disparity between the two would be massive. It's not an all-other-things-being-equal proposition, not to mention Rousey's weight advantage in your scenario. "Man > woman" is silly reductionism.

We can bump him a few pounds and call him a Flyweight.

Take the greatest adult woman in any sport and put her on a field, court, etc. with any top level male and the result would be what?

who cares about the what ifs and hypotheticals that will never happen? Everyone needs to come back from fantasy time at kindergarten and join the real world again. And in the real world her fights suck. At least with Silva's 10 year run he had some incredibly entertaining fights (along with some dreadful ones).

Rousey's fights shouldnt even be at the top of the prelim card on FSN of FS1, let alone headlining a PPV UFC event

The first one against Sonnen is one of my favorite fights... I still can't believe he won.

Wait, people really think Rousey could beat a professional male fighter? She's a great athlete, but lets be a little bit realistic here. Genetically, males produce this thing called testorene is an anabolic steroid. So she would be fighting someone who has had more competition their whole life and been on steroids when compared to herself. Yeah, she would be lucky to last 14 seconds.

Man that was a black eye for MMA PPV. Rousey may have just cost here self a lot of money at no fault of her own. She doesn't have anyone to fight unless she fights that Cyborg chic, and if she beats Cyborg she is done. No one is going to pay to watch her destroy other women.

Dana White would disagree with you

He would be wrong
did you watch the post fight show interview with Dana White? I did ....he would disagree with you

Dana won't even let Ronda fight Cyborg, and people are talking about her beating a male UFC fighter? Wolf tickets!
