Ok, i thought of a somewhat bad comparison with this Rousey vs. a male. Think of Royce Gracie when he started. He beat dudes twice his side, with really horrible striking ability. I think you guys underestimate judo, and specifically Rousey's judo.
Something good to listen to is some of the breakdowns after fights of techniques and moves. Rousey's ability to set-up those armbars is something the BJJ specialists talk about as truly incredible. she has tons of ways to set it up, and when you hear the details of the techniques you can understand how she can stand a chance competing.
Right. Gracie had an exceptional skill when he started that no one knew how to deal with. If he walked into the UFC tomorrow, he wouldn't be able to dominate his weight class much less guys twice his size. It's the same for Rousey. There's just a big skill gap in an area that others aren't prepared for hence the "talent pool disparity" comments. 20 years from now, Ronda Rousey's skillset will be completely lacking for what women's MMA is then.
I'm not sure she'd be able to beat anyone on the UFC roster that's bantamweight and up. They may not be judo medalists but they have the collective wisdom of 20+ years of men's modern MMA skills and training that make them extremely well rounded fighters. A "random" Jabroni at BW like Bryan Caraway would beat Rousey. Eddie Wineland is way down the ladder at BW and she wouldn't beat him.
