UFC wagering: no longer stuck with the old thread title. The window to change it is here! (7 Viewers)

BUT,  selling a bunch of wolf tickets with some hype like this fans an already flaming of inferno of ego and hot air.  They know how quickly a huge asset can deflate though and will pull whatever stunts they can to keep the cash cow rolling.
McGregor would make a ton of $$$ fighting Mayweather, but would the UFC? Talking about it is great for them; I don't know that the actual fight would be. They would be a junior partner at best in any deal with Mayweather, and McGregor getting his a$$ kicked wouldn't be good for the UFC.

Except Mayweather doesn't kick ###. He guards his own ### and plays patty cake. If McGregor gets his cardio together, he loses by decision and that's a win for the UFC. Then Conor can talk worlds of #### about Mayweather not having the balls to fight him in MMA.

He wouldn't have to worry about focusing on defense against McGregor. He'd KO / TKO him easily.

So had to go look at BJ Penn's wiki, his last victory was against........ :lmao:

Wow.

BTW Pitt-KC game moved back so fewer folks will be watching. I'll tune in just to see if he's doing that stupid straight up posture like he did vs. Edgar.  Big step down in quality from the last fight night card they had here.

i dont understand that thinking...MMA fighters use much smaller gloves than boxers...Conor has a tough beard on him ...he takes a hell of a shot...he takes not just punches but elbows and knees and kicks as well ...Mayweather doesnt knock out people anymore ...he would fight his typical safe fight...conor wouldnt land very many punches but he could KO floyd if he landed that left hand...he would be a very awkward style to adjust to.....sometimes that causes fighters problems...im not saying Conor would win a boxing match with the best pure boxer today...but he wouldnt get KO`d

Mayweather would hit him up at will though. The difference in skill would be massive. He wouldn't one punch KO him, but he'd be landing dozens of heavy shots / round.

Khabib opened at -200 against Tony. Grabbed Tony at +170, looks like it is now Tony +140, Khabib -170.

War El Cucouy  :boxing:

You know how Jeremy Stephens would have nothing more than a puncher's chance against McGregor? That's what McGregor has in a boxing match against Mayweather. If he couldn't land that left, McGregor would get boxed up and lose by TKO. Every time.

Go watch the Mayweater-Gatti fight if you want to see how a tough guy does against Floyd.  Then consider that Gatti was 10x tougher than Conor, and 100x the boxer.  There is no more delusional group of people than MMA fans.  See Ronda Rousey.

Conor would offer absolutely nothing.  Floyd would do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted.  There is no shame in enjoying UFC while admitting that McGregor has no business boxing Floyd, and would get humiliated.

Nice troll job by Dana offering him the same amount as CM.  Mayweather obviously received that as a major insult from the sound of his response.

Dana should wait till Floyd's 50, then offer him $200 mil to box the UFCs best striker. When Floyd declines, Dana can call him a coward.

Tough call.

Can't put any blame on the judges without watching the rest of the fight. Regardless, they gave her the first 2 rounds so the 3rd didn't matter.

Kind of looked like she went out right at the bell so... ? What do you do? The refs job is done after bell goes. He may have been a second late but it didn't look egrigeous. He can't retroactively call the fight after the bell.

Right decision

Edit: from a comment on the article.

It was weird. She went out with her eyes open, and in a strange position

Two judges gave the sleeping fighter the third round.

The ref had to wake up the sleeping fighter when the round ended.

What happens after the round is irrelevant. Having not watched the whole round I can't comment on who should have won but a failed RNC at the end of a round does not make it a lock that she won the round.

The loser (Haga) tapped out after the first round. If we're counting what happens after the bell, then the fight is over then.

Who saw the Russian HW get his opponent to tap via The Ezekial Choke while he was fully mounted?  They said that move was the 1st in UFC history, but this guy has 10 subs with it.  It must be really hard to sink in but he made it look pretty easy.  Did they mean 10 MMA subs or is that including JJ bouts with a gi?  Regardless, he's now one of my favorite fighters...and he's 39 years old.

I saw it, that was awesome.  I'm still not sure how the choke is so effective.   His arm is on the back of the neck...  Maybe his throat was being pushed so hard against his collar bone?

No doubt about it though, the guy is definitely a Russian OG.

Think it has something to do with him slipping his left hand under.  You kind of lose sight of it.  Not exactly sure of the placement, but you see him do it.  Then pressure down with his right arm on the back of the neck like you said.

We just worked this choke last week in BJJ class.

In this case, Oliynyk's right bicep was against the left side of Pesta's neck, and Oliynyk's left forearm was against the right side of the neck. Pesta should have used his right hand to push Oliynyk's left elbow up, which would have opened Oliynyk's arms and loosened the choke. But I'm guessing Pesta has never been in that spot before. Even had he done that, Oliynyk is so good at the choke that he might have finished it anyway.

Just Googled it....seems like the choke can be done from a bunch of positions on the mat.  Didn't see much at all about sinking it in while on your back fully mounted.  Was it demonstrated to you this way at all?  Pretty crazy.

Yes - it's available from a variety of positions. We drilled it from mount, from our guard, and from the back, but not while being mounted.

Yair's a killer. Just sad to watch.

Penn should be fight someone a lot closer in age. Don't blame the UFC at all putting Penn in against Yair after waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for him.

yeah BJ looked better, but Yair is a killer.  not sure who would be a good match-up, Lauzon?
