They can promote however they want to promote. The promotion doesn't actually have to happen.They really can't promote that way unless McGregor is actually going to fight the winner next. He might fight Ferguson, but I really doubt that he wants anything to do with the nightmarish stylistic matchup against Khabib.
I agree that another Diaz fight is probably the most likely next fight for McGregor.

This is spot on. Franklin was the clear second-best middleweight for a while. And he got starched by Silva. It was sad to watch.
little devil's advocate, but I still, for the life of me, can't figure out what happened to Jacare when he fought Romero. That was the beginning of the long waiting line for Jacare. I remember cause i bet Jacare kind of heavy in that one. I have to watch it again, but i remember thinking either (a) Jacare is one of those fighters who can have "off-nights" or (b) i must be missing something with Jacare cause he just didn't look good that night.

Yeah, but only once that I know of and it was a long time ago. Still, though, if that is what this is (we really don't know yet) they need to come down hard on him -- and on every other fighter who screws things up by missing / trying to cut too much weight. Same penalty as getting popped for PEDs would be good IMO -- missing weight and putting events in jeopardy because you're trying to cut too much to gain an advantage is just awful for the sport.

I'd love to see it, but it'll never happen. There probably isn't a single guy on the roster who would be able to stay in their current weight class. The titles and rankings would get completely blown apart.
I don't want to blame AKA, but the amount of fighters from that camp that have missed fights or pulled out of them is significantly higher then the average. If weight cutting mishap, we will see, but I am wondering if it is something else
I don't know how far we have to go to change things, there are only a handful of guys I can think of that have had issues since the IV ban. And that includes fatty Big Rig.
Yeah, me too. We'd see better fights in my opinion with guys fighting at their natural weights and without being drained by the cut. But would the UFC and the fighters themselves be OK with it? Not so sure.
It would be complicated for the champions, to be sure, but the fighters themselves loathe the weight cut process, and apart from leading to less fight cancellations, it would benefit the fighters' longevity - and consequently, their potential value to the UFC. It's not like Ferguson the welterweight would be of less value to the company than Ferguson the lightweight, at any rate. As for the rankings, it's not like they're of any value right now. The UFC could easily make a big media event out of the transition and restructuring of the weight classes and rankings.
