UFC wagering: no longer stuck with the old thread title. The window to change it is here! (3 Viewers)

Jesus, Travis Wiuff is one mean looking dude
And may be the biggest 205 lb man I have ever seen
I'm glad he is still with Bellator, and am interested to see what they can do with him when they get to Spike. I know there was talk about bellator having some TV show on Spike too, not sure what it would be but they have some good stories on that roster
 Well, I guess we move on to the net LHW in Bellator
I think if they fight 10 times Wiuff wins 7-8 of them...just got caught with one big one.Atilla was going to have 3 chances at that...the beginning of the 3 rounds. Happened to make one count.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is how Sonnen was calling out Jones "before" Henderson got hurt. Sonnen and Hendo train together. Sonnen finds out about the injury before anyone and immediately starts the twitter war. My money is on Dana telling Sonnen to start it up as soon as it was made known to the UFC that Hendo might be out.

ETA: By "before" he got hurt, I mean before it was public knowledge.

I don't know bud, i think you have gone a little :tinfoilhat: with this one. I think if the UFC or Dana knew about Hendo being banged up they would have started contingency planning 3 weeks ago and been able to pull something off. Chael and Hendo are friends, so i wouldn't be surprised if Chael had an idea, but i can't see the UFC possibly doing something like that, just would make zero sense for them to do thatand i think Hendo deserves more blame than he is getting too. They say his knee was busted up 3 weeks ago, he should have given the UFC at least a head's up to say he still wanted to fight, but wasn't sure how it would go

Maybe. I don't think it is that crazy. Sonnen starts chirping Jones on the 19th and the fight is cancelled on the 23rd. From the time Hendo gets hurt till the time he gets an MRI and is ruled out would be a couple days. Dana says to Sonnen, 'start yapping in case you need to step in'. I wouldn't past the UFC to do that at all and in fact would think that it would be a pretty wise move. Was just thinking about how Sonnen was, for no reason at all, starting a twitter war with Jones then all of a sudden Hendo is out and Sonnen is the #1 replacement. Maybe it is a crazy coincidence but I don't think so :tinfoilhat:

http://www.ufc.com/news/ufc-152-fight-card-updates?vitor

"Jon Jones will now face former champion Vitor Belfort for the UFC light heavyweight championship on September 22 in Toronto, as today's bizarre series of events has taken yet another twist."
Horrible.Hopefully UFC will plan for this better in the future. I get that they are trying to expand the brand and get more people into watching MMA, but they took a big risk spreading their cards so thin. And now that risk came back to bite them. And Sonnen isn't even deserving of a title shot. The only reason Dana wanted him is because he's a draw because of his mouth, not because he is in the mix for a title shot at LHW.

Mediocre fighters saying they'd jump at the opportunity to fight for the title? Shocking.
Seriously. A bunch of guys who will never sniff a title shot suddenly are willing to step up and fight Jones? How noble. The only guy who stepped up that interested me against Jones was Weidman.

I think it's more likely that Sonnen is trying to talk his way into being a contender at LHW instead of having to fight guys on their retirement tour like Griffin. If he talks a bunch of smack, everyone will tune in to watch Sonnen vs Jones as opposed to Jones vs Machida. The fact that Hendo has been hurt for weeks and seemingly didn't give the UFC time to prepare for a replacement is the most noteworthy new news though.

Since we're using what people have said in the past against them, I guess we can use Dana White as an example of hypocrisy as well.On Sonnen, August 21st:

“He’s a long way away. He’s not coming off the Silva fight and just talking his way into a 205-pound world title shot.”
I guess he was only 2 days away, huh Dana?

I'd rather see Sonnen vs. Jones. Not far fetched to say that the majority prefer it. Machida preys on the mistakes of others. If someone like Jones isn't pushing things, it will be a long, dull fight.I love Chael as an entertainer & the dude ####### brings it as a fighter. To dominate Anderson Silva for 5 of 7 rounds is no small feat. Hell, people before him couldn't win a d@mn round.Dude doesn't need to talk his way into anything. It's embarrassing he even has to fight Forrest (who looked terrible vs. Chico Ortiz in his retirement fight. Forrest should have joined Chico in retirement with the way he fought). Sonnen is a contender at 205. Fu(k Hendo's a contender at 205 and my $$ would be squarely on Sonnen if those 2 fought.Really is there any reason why Sonnen shouldn't be near the top here? Dude is at the top of his game and is motivated (unlike several on this list). Him fighting Forrest is a waste of time.LHW contender list:1. Jon Jones – UFC (Champion)2. Dan Henderson – UFC3. Lyoto Machida – UFC4. Mauricio Rua– UFC5. Rashad Evans – UFC6. Gegard Mousasi – Dream7. Alexander Gustafsson – UFC8. Phil Davis – UFC9. Ryan Bader – UFC10. Quinton Jackson – UFC

Jones was aggressive in the 1st round against Machida, even after getting caught with a counter left and a solid leg kick later in the round.

Sonnen should at least beat someone on this list (except for the last 2 guys) before he's even considered for a title shot. TBH, I dunno why they didn't just get it over with and schedule Jones v Gustafsson since they are building him up as the next Jon Jones. And he isn't coming off of a recent fight like Machida is.

Sure he should face one of them on that list. Forrest Griffin isn't on that list. Facing him is 20 steps backwards for Sonnen. Forrest should retire. He had a nice run as the champ, but he's a side show at this point known more for running out of the octagon than anything he does in it. I'd like to see Sonnen vs. Rua. It's an embarrassment to the division that Rua's in line for a shot when the guy can't go 2 rounds w/o gassing.Sonnen should be at the top of that division. It's weak right now.

:goodposting: When Sonnen first announced he was going to 205 I was skeptical but the more I think about it, the more I like it. I want to see Silva fight Jones, so why shouldn't Sonnen go there and fight Machida, Rua, or Rampage? Well, maybe not Rampage anymore, but that would be some funny promotion leading up to the fight.

Unfortunately for Sonnen, he moved to LHW at a time when all the major contenders had just fought or were booked to fight. The only one on that list he could fight right away is Evans, which wouldn't be a terrible fight to make if you're serious about pushing him at LHW.Of course, you have to wonder why they'd book Sonnen against Griffin in the first place if they thought he was a legit contender at 205.

so i know there is a lot of hate for Bisping in here, but this article puts it into perspective a bit:http://www.mmafighting.com/2012/9/1/3284607/ufc-michael-bisping-villain-mma-brock-lesnar-mma-newsi think why i like him is because he has the self-awareness. Sure he can come off as a jerk, but he does it for various reasons.
I think Bisping is a very intelligent guy. I just don't think he's the contender as he's currently portrayed. He's fallen flat in every big fight he's had.Who's the big name Bisping's beaten? Where's that one big signature win at?? That piece of #### Mayhem Miller? LOL What a joke of performance that clown put on. I think he was gassed 30 seconds into that fight.

Well, i think he beat Sonnen. Outised of that, i'm not sure because that division is so dynamic. Look at you top 6-7 guys 6 mts. ago or a year ago

Dana says Lyoto won't receive automatic title shot:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/lyoto-machida-not-automatic-shot-032523380--mma.html

------------------

So Dana makes an excuse for himself in announcing Jones/Machida before the parties agreed, then proceeds to bash a fighter (Machida here) once again in the media.

Dana really needs to cut the #### with bashing his top fighters in the media. If a fighter doesn't believe the time frame is good enough to prepare, respect their decision.

If it means Machida doesn't get a shot in the future, so be it. With Dana, he takes this #### as personally and makes asinine remarks thinking it provides some shock value.

FWIW Lyoto just fought on August 4th and earned his title shot. But Dana wants to have his little temper tantrum because Lyoto doesn't want to fight twice in 6 weeks.

But of course when someone calls Dana out on cutting down the frequency of shows/PPV's, he again acts like a child.

Par for the course with Dana. He's always shown rampant pettiness whenever it suited his agenda at any given moment (see: Fedor, Barnett, Tito, Couture, Meltzer etc), and this is no different. Plenty of fans appreciate his candor, but he just comes across as a frustrated meathead a lot of the time. It's embarrassing.

I have nothing bad to say about Lyoto's decision. If he loses to Jones again, there's next to no chance that he'll ever get a third shot, barring the crowning of a new champion. He's no spring chicken anymore. Why would he risk that chance on short notice?

If you weren't aware, MMA fighter Renzo Gracie is a Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and a two-time ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship gold medalist. He is not the guy you want to mug on a Thursday night in New York City.Unfortunately that's what happened, allegedly, and Renzo added insult to the injuries you assume he dished out by live-blogging the entire thing on his Twitter account, @Renzo_Gracie_BJJ. I say "allegedly" because the tweets are thorough but don't provide a lot of context, so depending on your point of view, one of two things happened:1. Renzo foiled an attempted mugging by being a jiu-jitsu bad-###. He incapacitated one of the muggers, humiliated him and got a picture on his phone before chasing down the second guy, putting the fear of God in him and heading home unharmed. This version makes Renzo look like real life's Batman, dishing out justice to street thugs with extreme prejudice. At some point you expect him to shoot a grappling gun at the sky and zip away.2. Two guys on the street asked Renzo for a cigarette. He responded by beating the #### out of them for no reason. He even drove his car around the block to find the guy who'd run away, choked him out three times, punched him in the eyes while he was unconscious and blogged the entire thing on his Twitter like a proud, psychopathic creep. If you need a Christian Bale reference for this one, it's like that scene in American Psycho where Patrick Bateman pretends like he's gonna help a hobo before berating and stabbing him to death.I'm not sure which direction I lean. I want to trust Gracie's word that they were gonna mug him, in which case sure, beat them within an inch of their lives for f**king with the wrong Brazilian. At the same time, his early tweets reveal that he's pretty excited about beating the hell out of two random dudes, and never includes any important facts like "after asking me about a cigarette they pulled a gun" or anything. Just UNHOLY VIOLENCE and WHISPERS ABOUT DEATH to random strangers.Check out the story yourself and make the call. I'm gonna go a head and side with Gracie, in the event the he ever sees this, drives to my house and starts trying to "raccoon" me.

Rampage out.Aldo out. UFC has been looking pretty terrible lately.
I guess that's why they are offering that 5 PPVs for the price of 4 deal now.
Seriously? How would they work that?
They did it years ago. I forget the exact deal, but it was you get a group of PPVs at a pretty sweet deal. it was better than this one. they just charge you the $200 or whatever, and you get all the PPVs

The product is really really suffering right now with these injuries. Things really got to change with the frequency of these cards.

Think it's really really ####ty Dana questioning his top fighters' hearts in the media for not taking these bouts on little notice. Especially asking Machida to fight on 3 weeks notice (not 4...little fight prep done on fight week at all. All media and weight cutting) and just 6 weeks after his last fight.

One of worst times in recent memory as a UFC fan.

Do I get to pick my PPVs or is it the next 5 in a row? If it is 5 in a row, that is pretty useless IMO. I watch pretty much every PPV but never 5 in a row at the same place.

It's actually 6 for the price of 5. UFC 152-157.

Doesn't make much sense. Only the hardcore fans would buy that and those are the people that would be buying without the deal anyway.

The Spider & Nogueira to step in as replacements at 153.Silva vs. Stephan Bonner Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Dave Herman
Herman-Nog should be fun. I keep getting sucked into the PeeWee hype though, thinking this will be the fight he fights to his potential. Also got Maldonado-Texeira, that will be brutal as well. Pretty funny how it didn't take long for that 153 card to turn around, and you have to like the Brazilians stepping up to make that card in Brazil that much better. If i were Jon Jones i would call Joe Silva and Dana and get them to book him on any card past 153 that they need someone for. He should beat Vitor in the 1st, and be plenty healthy exiting that fight

I wonder if knowing then what he knows now, if Dana would still offer fighters injury insurance.
The UFC needs to put penalties for fighters missing fights due to injury into their contracts. Fighters and fight camps need to do much better job of taking care of themselves.

Pretty good card coming up on Saturday. i'm interested to see how Bisping-Stann plays out, and Swanson-Oliveira should be a great fight. really good undercard too, so that cancelling of 151 really boosted some of these other cards. unfortunately the lines i am seeing are not that attractive, and not too much stands out just yet. i'm sure we'll find some stuff, but i was hoping for a few easy bets

Feels goooooood to have a UFC card after a 6-week break, and it's a damn solid one. A Belfort first-round knockout win would be indescribably delicious, but in a pick 'em situation, it's hard to go against the whiny champ.

Jones

Benavidez

Bisping

Hamill

Oliveira

Magalhães

Dunham

Benoist

Hettes

Thoresen

Gagnon

Brenneman

Looking forward to seeing Hettes again, adn actually all of the fights on the FX card look real good. Why do you like Thoreson over Baczynski? I know he is the more fun fighter, but i think Seth is so well rounded he can beat Thoreson a few ways. I think Baczynski has looked real impressive for awhile nowI don't know if i will be betting much on the main card, I am contemplating Bisping and Swanson, not sure for how much just yet. I wanted to grab Benevidez, but near -300 is not what i want, Mighty Mouse is too quick and can win some rounds by out-pointing Joe B. I like Vinny at + odds on the FX card, and maybe TJ Grant too (though i would like to see Even Dunham reach his potential at some point). Hettes is too expensive. One of my biggest bets was going to be Seth Baczynski, but i just heard he looked horrible at the weigh-ins, so i am a little hesitant now. I like Gagnon, and i would take Brenneman is he gets under -200

Didn't realize TUF started tonight. Saw it when I went to record the prelims tomorrow.
actually started last week. the ratings were pretty bad, having it on Friday nights is tough. They also have the TUF: England vs. Australia going on right now, but that is only available online on Thursdays. i wouldn't mind catching it, but it would be much nicer if they could find a way to get it on Fuel TV before the finale and allow us to catch it on TV instead

Dang you're right. They picked teams tonight.

i'm sure they will run the episodes again at some time. I think they usually do, just not sure how they do it. Especially with them no longer emphasizing the live element of the show, they will probably run the episodes again.and speaking of TUF, i look forward to when Spike releases the UFC property it has. Not sure if that will include the previous seasons of TUF, but i imagine the UFC will do what it can to have them. Would be fun watching some of the previous seasons of TUF on Fuel or something. Still some funny moments on those shows, I love when Dana went on one of his tirades and told all the guys they would have to "beat the guy off the show", than he has that moment of clarity and said "that didn't sound good, did it?".

Always funny when this happens, but i got quite a bit on this card and I don't know how it happened. For the facebook prelims:

Brennamen -200: 2 units

Gagnon +185: 1 unit

Baczynski -140: 3.5 units

also on grant and Vinny for the FX cards, with a little on Pierson. the facebook prelims will probably make the decision for me if i need to try and buy out of the some of the card, or keep riding the wave
