UFC wagering: no longer stuck with the old thread title. The window to change it is here! (2 Viewers)

Can't believe I'm agreeing with Chico Ortiz. Stephan Bonnar isn't a Hall of Famer. Or close to it. When I think of Bonnar, I think of a cheater that had 1 memorable fight. UFC has and will continue to celebrate that fight. To say he's a HOF is a joke and an embarrassment to the guys that are in it.
The dead Tapout guy is in the HOF too, right? Seems odd/silly.

I think there will be an MMA HOF run by an independant orgainzation before too long.

Alright, people need to be checking in with this thread more considering we are 24 hours away from a pretty big fight. I got money on Silva, but i got all kinds of people telling me Weidman is going to win. So let's hear it here, who wins this Silva-Weidman fight?

i also got money on Leben, Pee Wee Herman, and Baczynski. Can't believe I am putting actual cash again on Leben and Hermann, but maybe one of these days i will learn

Nice kiss at the weigh-in.
Yeah, Silva is one of the few guys that is hard to tell what is going on in his head. You can never tell how a fight is effecting him, and how much he cares about the fight. I watched the Bonner, Griffin, and Vitor fights recently, and Silva is without a doubt an absolute beast. But Chael was able to take him down with somewhat ease in both of their fights, so it is strange to figure out what to expect from these 2

Herman: Money on the fight or on if he'll pass the post-fight drug test? He's fighting for his UFC career tomorrow so he better win on both.

I'm taking Silva and likely will until the day he loses or faces Jon Jones.

Yeah, i just think the Weidman push is a whole lot of hype. I think he may be able to beat Silva one day, but coming off a year long lay-off, and going from a fight on Fuel TV to main eventing a PPV against Anderson Silva is a lot easier said then done. Same thing goes for talking about remaining calm in a fight against Silva, and actually doing it. And Herman has to be one of the top disappointing guys when he finally got to the UFC. Gonzaga has taken a lot of tough shots to the head lately, and Herman should be able to land some. at +195 i figure he is worth a shot

You guys probably have an idea of where I stand on Weidman-Silva. Weidman has the exact (only) skillset there is to beat Anderson Silva. For all the talk of the Bispings and Belforts of the world getting a title shot against Silva, please explain how they would win? Outstrike Silva? Of course not. The only way you beat him is to neutralize his skillset as a deadly, deadly striker. Weidman has that ability. I truly believe that he has the best overall grappling ability in all of MMA, when you factor in takedowns, wrestling, scrambles, positional control and advancement, GNP and submissions. Everyone knows the accolades in college, and his great showing at ADCC, that shows the type of "freak" he is in the grappling department, the way certain fighters are just freak strikers because it simply all makes sense to them.

Now that we know there's a clear path to victory, and we know he has enough octagon IQ to utilize that, the question becomes can he take, and hold Silva down without getting KO'd on the way in for 25 minutes. I'm confident that when the fight hits the mat, Chris is active enough to improve position and open up GNP with much more power and leverage than Chael was able to produce while being stuck in Silva's guard for much of their first fight. In addition to this, Weidman will look for subs, forcing Silva to have to open himself up a bit more for ground and pound attack. Chris stays active enough to keep this from getting stood up too often, as he constantly looks to improve position, and tools Silva in scrambles.

Again, we must ask, can this continue to happen for 5 rounds without Chris getting caught? I'm not nearly bold enough to predict a finish on CW's part, but I think he's the biggest, fastest strongest, best grappler Silva has ever come close to facing, and knowing Silva's weakness, this poses a BAD BAD match-up for Silva at this late stage in his career. I'd love to see this fight happen if Weidman had simply 2 more years of development under his belt, but nevertheless, I'm going with the upset. Weidman executes on his takedowns early and often, works a similar gameplan to Chael but with a more active ground game, doesn't get himself caught in a sub, and takes a decision....

...at least, often enough that it makes a bet at +210 (placed 2 days ago) justifiable for me.

can't argue with the logic bud, but there are a few things to consider:

- Weidman's year long lay-off.

- Rumours that his shoulder is still not healed and may have been reinjured during training

- huge step going from Fuel card top headlining a PPV

- can Weidman take a punch, and how will he react when taking a big shot?

Barboza was just destroying Oliveira's leg. Good stoppage. They'd have been taking him out in a wheelchair by the end of fight if it continued.

Love it.

See ya Pee Wee Herman. I don't care how low the heavyweight depth is UFC, please cut him already UFC. Glad we didn't have to see him on PPV. He doesn't deserve it.

yeah, he is history. Can't think of another guy who looked so good in regional shows looking so horrendous in the UFC. I just can't figure Herman out

i want to give all the people the UFC inherited with the Fox deal a chance, but man does Jay Glazer annoy the hell out of me.

After ditching cable, I am giving ufc.tv a shot again. A couple years ago I tried to stream a ufc even on my roku, paid for the ppv, and it wouldn't work. It was $44.00,

i've heard good things. getting the youtube UFC subscription is supposed to be a real good deal too.

Surprised Leben won on any card. Didn't think it was close. Had it 30-27 as well.

Leben just hasn't changed his game at all. Slow looping lefts. Over and over. I'd think at some point along the way he'd develop a consistent jab or something. Great chin but at this point is just a name.

Huh, i thought Leben had a good chance as Leben 29-28. I didn't think Crasig did much of anything either, except for that 3rd round. I could see scoring the 1st 2 rounds 10-10, but we are a long way from seeing anything like that

 I thought Craig easily won 2 and 3. He more than double Leben in significant strikes through the entire fight. (over triple Round 2 and over double Round 3). Leben pushed the action, Craig just easily landed the better shots.

Dennis Siver is an absolute monster at 145. Jesus.

Yeah, Siver is a beast. I think Swanson will be too quick for him, but Siver will be fun to watch down at 145

For anyone interested, I'm on a Mac streaming to Apple TV, and frombar.com is Mac/Adblock friendly with lots of streams.

i had some IT guys try and talk me into going Mac a few years ago and i ignored them. kind of wish i listened better

man i really love the UFC Cob Swanson. i don't know if he can take Aldo, but a rematch would be great to watch. Pettis/Swanson would be awesome too

Have we seen Hallman stopped by strikes before? I can't recall any offhand.

edit: siver, not hallman. durp.
