UFC wagering: no longer stuck with the old thread title. The window to change it is here! (3 Viewers)

Didn't even know it was on. Bellator needs to step up their promo game. Have mmafighting and mmamania in my RSS feed and don't recall anything about it.

Punk is fighting Mickey Gall.   some young cat who's 2-0.

Punk is an unknown.    He's been training BJJ off and on for a couple years and has been full time at Roofus in Milwaukee (well, as much as his injuries allow) for about 2 years now.

There's some footage of him sparring around the 20m mark of this video -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGxRwemxsc

His striking defense looks suspect.   Who knows.     Earlier in the video they show a trainer who's telling him how he needs to turn his punches over for more power.  IF that's a recent clip that's not a good sign -- that's one of the first things you learn.      My expectations are pretty low for his debut, but I'd love to be wrong.

CMP looks terrible from what I saw on his little show. Poor head movement and beginning boxing skills and poor positioning in the ground game.  I think he gets stomped.

The CM Punk documentary has been pretty good.

I don't think he stands a chance vs. Gall. He's an old man with a broken body. I've wondered how the #### would he even win. He's looked bad on both feet and ground. His BJJ is very much beginner. (And definitely not the "strength" he lead on for it to be). I don't know if I'd be showing that I'm taking take down defense pointers from Anthony Pettis. I get he's improved since January 2015, but how much a 36-37 year old guy with no background at all gonna improve? Not like he also hasn't had to take time off due to injury. He's already losing to father time.

Yeah I don't know what is going on with Bendo.   He just looked lost out there.   he's not the same fighter that we knew from WEC/UFC.    I hope he gets his head right because when he's on he's clearly one of the top guys in the world.    Looks like a broken shin for Patricio Pitbull, which sucks.     I've been watching PP for his last dozen or so fights in Bellator.   He strikes me as a Jorge Masvidal type , not his fighting style, but just his place in the pecking order and his show-appeal.  May always be a "B" tier fighter at best , but you better believe I'm going to tune in every time because that guy comes to fight.     If anyone didn't watch Bendo/Pitbull, honestly don't bother.   One of the worst main events I can recall.

However, the fight earlier was fantastic.    Go watch Derek Anderson / Saad Awad.    Great offensive and defensive grappling as well as two guys throwing hard leather.
Yeah, Awad/Anderson was fun as hell. Machida Jr's uppercut KO before that was sweet too.

As for tonight's show, PVZ's switch kick was awesome. And man, Pettis needed this win bad. Pity about Oliveira, though. Dude couldn't adjust to the fact that Pettis was all over that reversal from back control. That, and it still feels like he's gonna break in half with every body kick.

And the Masvidal/Pitbull comparison is pretty solid. Both guys I always love to watch, even if they never get a long win streak at the top.

Featherweight, probably Aldo/Mendes 2. Or Poirier/KZ (lawd, that was so good). Bantamweight... Not everyone digs Cruz's style, but I thought Cruz/Dillashaw was awesome. I'm probably forgetting something, though.

Did anyone see which two rounds Miller won?
Had to be 1 and 3

He got tagged in round 2 and was on bottom for 2 + mins.

The flurry at the beginning of round 1 is what won it for him. Oh, and he raised his hands when the fight ended and joe lauzon just walked back to his corner with his hands on his hips.

One judge somehow gave Miller the 2nd.

Strangely, two judges gave Lauzon the 2nd and two judges gave him the 3rd, but he still lost.

I do not see a convincing argument for Miller winning the 3rd. It was as clear of a Lauzon round as the 1st was a Miller round.

Had Miller/Lauzon on mute as the decision was called and gotta admit I was surprised when the ref had Miller's hand raised. Had it 29-28 Lauzon.

I was a little surprised as well although I don't think it was a bad decision. Miller himself raised Lauzon's hand. Miller really did more damage on his feet, he just couldn't avoid the takedown. Lauzon didn't do much damage in those spots.

I call BS on this. Just rewatched and Condit didn't land a damn thing. Closest thing to "significant" was an elbow off his back that at best, was glancing.
They have a broad definition of significant strikes, which makes the stat even more impressive.

Did anyone watch TUF last night which debuted a new season?

The format this year is that they invited 16 Flyweight Champions from promotions all over the country and world.

All 16 were seeded.

8 coached by Benevidez and 8 coached by Cejudo.

Winner gets to face Johnson for a title shot.

Just finished it. Two great fights last night. These guys are bringing it.

I'm interested in the season (cuz I watch every season), but do these fighters really need to be coached by 2 guys that lost to DJ? And whose to say they're not all better than the coaches anyway?

Well, Benevidez and Cejudo are pretty clearly the #2 and #3 flyweights in the world, so I'm at least fairly sure any random dude from the minors isn't better than either one. Losing to DJ carries no shame -- he's the best P4P fighter in the world, and it's not close, and well on his way to jumping into the GOAT discussions.

Heck yeah! Meant to post about it last night but it was late, then forgot this morning. Great start and looks to be a great season coming. Have actually watched a bunch of these guys (RFA, Legacy, etc).

Poor Alaska kid looked out of place and got his ### handed to him.
