Unconventional leagues call for unconventional strategies... (1 Viewer)

Alright, I'm involved in a 6-team Yahoo league. No jokes, it's a league with some close friends of mine, and we had a large rash of owners committing, and then dropping out within 3 days of the draft. On top of the 6-team thing, we have very short benches (9 starters, 6 backups), which means there are only 90 players rostered at any given time (you wouldn't believe who we have sitting out on the waiver wire right now...).

Anyway, in this league, I just traded Marc Bulger and Reggie Bush (yes, it's PPR) for Marques Colston and Joe Horn. Normally, if I posted that trade, everyone on the boards would be flipping out about how I just got taken for a ride (according to the top250 forward, I just got about 33% of what I gave up), especially when you consider that my first order of business after this goes through will be dropping Joe Horn... but I think that, given the parameters of this league, I got an absolute steal. 3 of the current top-6 QBs are sitting unclaimed right now (5 of the top 10 QBs, 10 of the top 17 QBs), and Bush is basically unstartable (I have Tomlinson, Rudi Johnson, Kevin Jones, Tatum Bell, and there's always Maroney, Chester and Fred Taylor, and Thomas Jones sitting on waivers). In fact, I think I got a steal, because I was actually about to offer Rudi Johnson for Colston straight up (I know, sounds ludicrous, but given the parameters of the league I felt would have been a fair exchange).

Share some stories of moves that you all have made that, out of context, would look like collossal season-ending blunders, but within the context of your league you feel was actually a coup.

Also, while I'm at it... I'm considering trading Matt Hasselbeck straight up for the last man on someone else's roster- basically, just giving away Hasselbeck for free. Hasselbeck is, in Yahoo! leagues, one of the designated "un-waivable" players, and I feel like there are better QBs available on the wire. Since I can't cut him, I might try giving him away for free in exchange for someone I *could* cut and replace with a better QB.
