Unforgiven (1 Viewer)

Have not seen either of those other two either. Guess I've just never been drawn to westerns.....my dad loved them.....not sure why I have not. Will check them out.

That and open range and ncfom are the three best westerns of the last 30 years.
Always hear good things about Open Range, need to see that one finally.I think The Assassination of Jesse James and Tombstone deserve to be mentioned there as well, might even like both more than Unforgiven.

Im not sure if its worse that you havent seen the more acclaimed best picture winner from 5 years ago or Eastwood best picture from 20 years ago.

Odd, but whatever. Unforgivien is great as is open range.

(for the record, ncfom is a western as is true romance).

I never thought Unforgiven was deserving of all of the praise it's received. Good movie but I don't think it ranks up there.

I wont disagree like others with NCFOM, but True Romance?! :lmao:
Good guy trying to do right, chased by a band of always-bads, left looking to a way out that balances personal safety with personal morality. Tempted to do whats wrong in an effort to sirvive against great odds even though he knows its not right Yeah, it's a western.

Youre stretching the genre a bit...are 50% of the movies they make these days Westerns or something?

You do realise that westerns are time pieces right? Westerns are devoted to telling stories set primarily in the latter half of the 19th century in the American Old West, hence the name.

I feel the same about Unforgiven. It's overrated definitely. It's not even one of Clint's top three westerns.

Ehh, hard to compare pre-1980 Eastwood with after that. Then again, pretty much every movie Eastwood has been in is a western /Abraham

I liked it when Hillary Swank shot the gun out of the bad guy's hand in Million Dollar Baby.

The ending saved the movie for sure, up until that final scene Clints character was kind of a p#ssy....then all hell broke loose
One of the all-time great scenes in any movie.

Little Bill Daggett: ''Well, sir, you are a cowardly son of a #####! You just shot an unarmed man''! Will Munny: ''Well, he should have armed himself if he's going to decorate his saloon with my friend''.

Tombstone is certainly the most fun to watch and has the most re-watchability. Kind of like most of Eastwood's earlier ones. The other three require me to be in a certain mood.
