Unofficial FBG NFL Draft Prediction Contest (1 Viewer)

Hot Sauce Guy

Footballguy
***this contest is locked - the posted deadline was midnight PT on Wednesday the28th. Thanks to everyone for playing & good luck tonight!***

First, I hope this is ok with @Joe Bryant.  This seemed like the correct sub-forum to do this since we’re the most focused on the draft. If it needs to be moved, by all means move it.

That said, I think we’re all getting draft rumor fatigue, so I figured I’d lighten things up a little.

The rules are simple:

Give me your top 10 picks.

Whomever is most accurate will win 2 bottles of award-winning hot sauce at a heat level of winner’s preference.

Ya don’t have to be perfect, you just have to be better/more accurate than your fellow sharks. If 6/10 is more than anyone, you’ll win. If multiple people make the same number of correct guesses, then we go to tiebreakers.

Tiebreakers:

First tiebreaker is nailing pick #3

Second tiebreaker (if needed) is accurately predicting any trade inside the top 10 during the draft.

Third tiebreaker (if needed) is nailing pick #4

That should cover any tie for # of correct pick predictions.

Go!

:pickle: :pickle: :pickle:

ETA: I thought it was implied, but this is limited to one (1) entry per shark.

ETA: In the unlikely event that two posters have the exact same draft guesses, & there is no trade made in the top 10 predicted & they both have #3 & #4 correct, The timestamp will be the deciding tiebreaker. just a little more incentive to get your guess in earlier.

ETA: entries must be in by Wednesday, April 28th at midnight PT.  It occurred to me that more definitive info comes out the morning of the draft, so to keep the prognosticators on their toes, please enter before Midnight Wednesday.

please try to keep editing to a minimum, and any edit *must* be time-stamped prior to midnight PT on Wednesday. . 👍🏼

Hot sauce probably like 8 or 9 out of 10, with 10 being mind blowing hot, and 8/9 being very very hot, but not pure pain.

Tried not to look at anyone else's while picking. I see two trades and I think the leapfrogging begins at the DET slot because two QBs likely are still on the board here and NE/DEN get antsy about what Carolina will do at 8. Gut says DEN takes the bigger plunge and NE finds a way to deal with Carolina. Detroit still gets a player they likely liked at 7 but picks up some draft capital from a QB-needy team.

I have a hard time seeing ATL passing on a QB at #4 given Matt Ryan's age.

Hmmm...I guess he's only 35. Was thinking he's older. Maybe they do go for the TE afterall.

I had to look it up too.

at 35, I figure they’re thinking they still have at least three years to make another run.

1. JAX - Trevor Lawrence (1/1 - off to a hot start)

2. NYJ - Zach Wilson (2/2 - moving along)

3. SF - McCorkle Jones (3/3 - I've convinced myself that this is going to happen. What are the odds of a guy named McCorkle succeeding as an NFL QB? Succeeding at life?)

4. ATL - Kyle Pitts (keep Ryan, keep Julio, draft Pitts, score some points but give up more points)

5. CIN - Ja'Marr Chase (it would be wise to select a Tackle here, I don't believe that will be the case)

6. DEN - Justin Fields (MIA is becoming like that guy in your FF league who cares more about collecting as many 1st rd picks as possible than winning)

7. DET - Rashawn Slater (tough minded rookie HCs tend to prefer to build along the lines)

8. CAR - Penei Sewell (hey, you gotta protect your new QB of the future)

9. MIA - Jaylen Waddle (I almost wanted to project another trade down here)

10. DAL - Patrick Surtain (I could see the Boys moving down a smidgen (not past 15) and Trey Lance going here, Cowboys can still land a top CB prospect in the process)

The biggest issue is his cap hit, they can't realistically move on from Matt Ryan until after the 2022 season 2 years from now. So if they draft a rookie, and he starts this year or next, they'd have the priciest backup of all time (unless they trade him to another team and eat a HUGE dead cap hit, $65 million in 2021 and $40 million in 2022). They can move on in 2023 when it's a $15 mil dead cap, or just draft a rookie QB in 2023 and move on after that season.

The Falcons are in a super weird place where they have a ton of cap taken up, but not a lot of talent on the roster.

Just edited mine because I no longer think the Broncos trade up to ensure their QB, but instead stick at 9 and take him if he falls. Also, I don't think Fields goes top 10 anymore, he might, but there's so much buzz in the opposite direction, he could fall to 12 and get snatched up by the Eagles, or all the way to the Pats at 15 and the league regrets it for years to come.
