Unpopular Movie Opinions (2 Viewers)

Another one I just don't get is Drive. I've seen people praising it as some masterpiece when its barely passable as a guy movie. After watching I thought people were sarcastically promoting it but no. People truely thought it was a great movie. I'll never understand that.
Did you watch the DVD or did you catch it on TV? It's probably the worst movie edit for TV I've ever seen. I like the movie but the TV editing completely killed it and made it borderline unwatchable for me.
Saw it on Netflix. I assume its uncut.

Jennifer Lawrence is an overrated pile of garbage. She brought absolutely nothing to American Hustle except complete annoyance.

Go eff yourself, Hollywood and your made up Oscars.

But she is VERY HOT, so it makes it a lot easier to watch. I thought she did a fantastic job in Winter's Bone.

Anything LOTR/Hobbit related sucks balls.

Same for 90% of superhero/comic book movies.
This. I'd say 99% of superhero/comic book movies suck. I honestly can't think of one that I like.
Spiderman 2, Batman Begins, Iron Man 1, all were solid films IMHO. I don't like most of them either but these were very good.
Spider-Man and Iron man are steaming piles of crap.Batman Begins is an awesome film.

Spiderman 2 with Andy Molina is good. I liked the 1st Iron Man up until we got the Duracell commercial from Jeff Bridges at the end.

Both Thor's were good as was Captain America, Avengers and Iron Man 3.

No. They're not.

Stopped watching Thor 1, won't try Thor 2, Capt America was not good, Avengers was terrible at the end, IM3 stunk mostly too. Sorry...

All the Star Wars movies suck balls. The constant praise of those movies along with the ridiculous inclusion of anything SW related into much of today's pop culture is enough to vomit. Most people who enjoy SW are grown men who saw the movies as children and are still holding onto their lost childhood but quoting a terrible trilogy of movies from 30+ years ago. If the same people who saw SW as a child watched those movies for the first time as grown men they'd realize just how bad they are. They suck.

You are wise, my friend.

Empire Strikes Back is an excellent movie by any standard.

As for the first trilogy as a whole, it was groundbreaking at the time, but admittedly was inconsistent in terms of the quality of film making.

The second trilogy (the prequels) completely sucked and were an obvious bull#### money grab by Lucas.

There Will Be Blood is wildly overrated. Daniel Day-Lewis is amazing as usual. Too bad there wasn't a strong enough story to match his brilliance. The "I drink your milk shake" scene everybody loves was laughably bad.

Yeah, I didn't really get into that movie either. DDL is amazing the way he climbs into characters, but that was a real chore to watch.

Thor was good, haven't seen the 2nd one yet. Capt America was OK, Avengers was good, both Iron Man 1 and Iron Man 3 were good. LOTR was poetry on screen, beautiful movies that captured the essence of the books.

My guess is that people who don't like these movies don't like the genres.

Also, Blade Runner was one of the best movies ever.

These truths are indisputable.

My unpopular movie opinion: I don't "get" most comedies. I laugh often in movies but rarely in pure comedies. I haven't been able to get Big Lebowski, Raising Arizona, or Royal Tannenbaums (I think that was a comedy? Was so damn boring I can barely remember). Even the "Something about Mary" type movies are almost never funny to me.

Shawshank Redemption is a good movie but its not that good. The praise for it, especially around these parts, is too much.

:goodposting:

This guy gets it.

Anyone who blasphemes Blade Runner can't be considered a serious poster. In fact, we probably should start the ban process immediately. :)

Harrison Ford doesn't like Blade Runner.

He'd never be allowed to post here. :(
I don't think Harrison Ford liked Ridley Scott during filming, not necessarily the movie. I believe they both butted heads quite a bit.
That's true but I'm pretty sure Ford is on record saying he didn't like the film. Could be wrong but I thought for sure I've read that.

That makes me wonder - how many films that have generated a decent to significant amount of acclaim been disliked by one of the key principals in the film? I'm not talking about directors upset something was cut or whatever (that happens a lot) but a star or director who genuinely disliked a film that so many people revere.

I think this was done in the past but I figured the worst movies ever thread was getting clogged up with unworthy titles.

So post all your least favorite movies that are critically acclaimed by others.

For me, there's none worse than Avatar. Touted as one of the best films of the year and even nominated for picture of the year and yet it has a script ripped off from a children's movie with a smaller acting range.

Eta: We can also add unpopular likes as well. Critically panned movies that we happen to like (Indy Films that didn't open to a wide audience don't count).
Avatar is good for demoing picture quality, especially for the 3D Blu-Ray. Upscales nice to 4k TVs too. But yes, a terrible movie.
