Update from FBGs regarding home page for forums displaying slowly (1 Viewer)

I submitted a ticket to FBGs and here is their response. Sounds like they are working on it. I would have replied to my original post on the subject but that thread was closed for no more posts.

Original problem for why I submitted the ticket.

Taking too long to display home page of forums.

Whether newly entering the forums, or by clicking “ Our Forums “ once you’re already in a forum. Any other clicking, such as in different threads, is fast.

Hopefully they will address quicker then when I was told a few months ago they'd address date of births no longer being available on player pages. Just giving the age is insufficient, weak really.

Launching the forums from the main page is really ... really ... really SLOW. Everything else seems okay in comparison.

Don’t do a screen refresh either when on the forums home page. Any click that loads the forums home page is brutal. All other clicks are fast. Definitely a bug somewhere in the application that loads that page.

19.05 seconds to go from Shark Pool to Our Forums page
Instantaneous going from Our Forums to any other forum though

3rd party server providers notoriously limit cpu, ram, cache, etc. good news is if support harasses them enough the issue will get resolved...just give it a few days.

Why just accessing the forum home page? Seems more like a FBGs application issue to me. If a service provider issue one would think it would an issue accessing the forums once you’re already on the forums home page, but it doesn’t, only happens accessing the forums homepage and that includes clicking “Our Forums” from within a forum. If everything else is fast, that would indicate an application issue to me.

Reinforcing what the issue is, displaying the forums homepage. Once already there, accessing forums is fast.

I blame the embedded analytics/stats/user data collection code.
I also blame the users that keep their resumes and SSN documents on archive drives. Those firewire USB drives are too slow. Really need those control freaks to put the documents in the internet cache directory for ease of retrieval.

Yes. We're working on it. We buy the forum software from www.xenforo.com and they host the forums. They have been working to resolve the issue.
