UPDATE: So I think I may have lung cancer (2 Viewers)

do you know for sure or just speculating? cancer sucks....
Seriously. Is this confirmed?
Nothing is confirmed. Given his situation it seems likely though. Lung cancer can get you quick. A family member went in for a checkup right after Christmas and was dead 2 weeks later from lung cancer. Left 2 kids behind. If you can't remove a lobe or two before they hit the lymph nodes there's nearly no hope.

I don't think we can jump to conclusions here. My dad is 78 and was diagnosed in October with Small Cell Lung Cancer. He went in for what they thought was a sinus infection and it turned out to be this. They hit him with everything possible chemo/radiation and today, they have the growth down to just 1/4 the size it was and amazingly, it has not spread anywhere else. He is still doing radiation to get the rest of it. Small cell is terrible--they don't give you grades like with non-small cell. It is either limited or extensive. Only 6% of people make it 5 years. But I have to tell you, the treatment was terrible. How he survied it at his age is beyond me. Between the brochoscopy, the bone marrow tests and the numerous blood clots, it is a miracle. The worst has been the chemo fog. In the hospital, he became a person we didn't recognize. He didn't know us. He thought he was in Korea and then he was in Arizona. He would become angry. He was just like an alzheimer victim--all due to the chemo. He ended up being released from the hospital to a rehab facility to learn how to walk again and try and get cognitive functions back. He is home now and still has a few moments of cognitive problems, but he is pretty much back to himself. Reading two-three books a week--walking on his treadmill every day. However, his future is still uncertain. He smoked for probably 25 years until he was in his 40s.I

My dad passed exactly 4 weeks ago battling same thing as enfuego (Stage IV non-small cell lung cancer) after a 9 month battle.Hopefully one day a cure is found. The strides they've made towards improving quality of life is tremendous. I actually spoke with my father via video chat (across country) the evening before he passed. I've been monitoring this thread for a few months. My prayers go out to enfuego and his family.

Damn. Sorry about your Dad, Sudoku...

:( my dad was just diagnosed lastweek with stage 4 lung cancer. starting treatment this week with radiation and chemo which may buy him a year.

Yeah, #### cancer. After completing treatments in December, my son's brain cancer had returned by February. The battle was back on in a big way. Brain surgery in late February to remove the mass from near his brain stem (surgery went very well) and chemo treatments thereafter. Just checked in today for a two week stay on the bone marrow transplant floor. Massive chemo blast for the next five days, followed by blood stem cell infusion to repopulate his bone marrow. For those of you who pray, please pray for my son, Chance. TIA.

Not one to pray, but hope positive vibes can help the cause.

Thoughts, prayers, shots of whiskey (for me, either of you, all of us) and whatever else could possibly help.

Where is he getting his treatments, if you don't mind me asking? Also, is the radiation proton therapy?

BB, I don't believe in God, but I am rooting for Chance harder than I've ever rooted for anything else. Including when I drunkenly put my last $200 on 26 on a roulette wheel at Trump Marina.

Bb, he will be in my prayers tonight. I DO believe in Jesus. I'm sorry and hope things go well. And God Bless you enfuego.

Wow BB, my heart goes out to you and to the others who have loved ones suffering. I do hope the OP was cured and just moved onto better things.

:goodposting:

I don't pray much, but I did say a prayer for Chance.

Best wishes to BB and steelerfan, their families and everyone else who has to deal with serious illness in their life.

Done regarding the bolded.

A local swab drive was held Monday for the wife of a deputy sheriff; she needs a bone marrow transplant to help her beat a rare form of leukemia I knew i was going, but I talked my newly turned 18 year old son into going. He knew the possible outcomes all the way around and said he hoped he could help.

Best wishes to all family members.

I'll pray for Chance. That's gotta be unbelievably tough on you and the family. Damn.

Thanks everyone. It means a lot. I'm scared every minute of every day. But Chance is a fighter. He's never given up and neither will we. He smiles more than just about any kid I know. Just always in a good mood.

And prayers to en fuego, wherever he may be. Didn't mean to derail his thread.

Ugh, this stuff makes me sick. Couldn't imagine my kids going through this. Best wishes.

Jesus BB, didn't know about this. TPW to you and the little guy, can't imagine what you are going through. Sending every possible good vibe I can muster.

### ####, BB. I wish I could do something to help.

I don't know if there's a God, but if there is, things like this make me very angry with it.

Good luck, and keep on fighting just like your kid does.

Man, as a father, I can't even imagine what you're going through. I don't want to ever imagine my children in your situation for fear it will happen.

Also, your mention of en fuego is spot on. I'm sad to keep reading this thread without him chiming in. I don't want to think of the worse, but it may be, And that kinda' sucks.

Thanks again everyone. We're remaining positive. Even though it was devastating news when we learned that the cancer had returned, the treatments have gone well since. The brain surgery was a success, and the subsequent chemo has had the desired effect of knocking down the remaining cancer cells. This last treatment is the important one though. Hopefully will get rid of the cancer for good. Fingers crossed.

My thoughts and prayers are with you BB and with Chase. I can't imagine. Staying positive has to be one of the strongest responses under your control, I'm glad to hear your family is doing that.
