Hfs... Fulham look like they're on the take- trying to lose this game.
Lol... Or not
HFS....
As soon as Traore and his bulging muscles had the ball at MF with only Ericcson and Maguire to beat, it was all over.
Yeah, Jedi did great there to help on that game winner.

... Because he didn't send a cross into a defender this time.
Motm performance by staying well clear of that attack.

Aaronson's late goal last game gets rewarded with a start today for Union Berlin.
Rewards them with a goal right out of the Gyasi Zardes playbook.
I didn't think Aaronson scored today....
Yeah, he apparently didn't play well. He was 3 for 20 on duels and was dispossessed 6 times resulting in a brutal 5.2 FotMob rating.

The bright side is that he was extremely active but when your manager publicly says you need to bulk up and then get throttled like that it seems to reinforce the view.

It was the Sporting Director but that matters not as I am sure the manager thinks the same way, as we all do. He simply may not have the physicality needed at this level.

Pulisic can get away with it because he is so much of a better player. A player with qualities like Aaronson needs to have some dog in him to do more than just survive at this level.

I saw the rating. To me 5.2 should be... Yeah, he did ok but nothing much. Except with fotmob a 6.5 seems to be baseline ubiquitous for just showing up.

yes I agree. After watching footmob ratings closely all year, a 5.2 is horrible for them. Granted it is all based on stats generated in the game but it still is a relative measurement.

Anything from 6.2 to like 6.7 seems like bang average. Once you see ratings in the low to mid 7's, it feels like the player had a more positive impact on the game.

Damn, I was hoping that Josh Cohan's visibility would increase after a successful run in Israel now that he was in MLS but Atlanta is starting Guzan over him today :(

Don't know how this is credited.
It wasn't scored as an Aaronson goal but IDK how that's anything else. He clearly was the last offensive player to touch it

oh hell, I even saw a replay of that (from a different angle) and had no idea that hit Aaronson. That is 100% his goal but I assume it would have to be changed later since the official scorer did not credit to Aaronson.

And yes, very Zardes like :)

Pepi subs in and scores late in a blow out.

His scoring rate remains excellent and yet it looks near impossible to unseat de Jong who I think is now on 22 league goals in only 23 games.

The dude has always seemed like a lightweight. Weston or Dike he is not.

2003 Brian Gutierrez has been criticized for lack of goal involvement. He had a goal and assist in the opener on the road at Phlly. Watched most of this one and honestly didn't think it was one of his better games but it was a fantastic strike.

The surprise to me was 2004 Quinn Sullivan for the Union though. He was brilliant. He picked up an assist and had another chalked off by VAR. And I think he had the hockey assist on the last goal. It finished 2-2.

Hey, I'd love to have quads like Dike, but they haven't helped him stay on the pitch.

Dike needs to loan BA some muscle. You are good as you are, scoob.

tough result for Celta.

They are one spot above the zone and were traveling to team one spot below them. They had a 2-0 lead. Game ended 2-2 with the tying goal in the 100th minute.

Celta remains 3 points ahead instead of what looked like a much healthier 6.

I'm going to try to watch Johny at 10:15. And then.. ugh... Milan.
Been watching him.

He just scored a cracker.

Otherwise... He's a floater at the 4/6 in the middle of the park just in front of the back 4. Good feel for the space and passing lanes which he floats around and covers. Makes the sprint at times, usually to close a man down more than cover space.

Tidy with the ball- usually not trying much more than 1 or 2 touch pass back or square. Did hit a beautiful diagonal ball to hockey assist the opening goal.

Had 1 opportunity to progress the ball on a clear break.. looked clueless and slow deciding what to do kind of slow motion dribbling forward instead of attacking the space the way Musah does, losing the break opportunity. Notice he's also slow other times when possession is lost or direction is changed

Has pushed further up the field up to get into attack more up a man. Doesn't look overly useful in the attacking third, but did hit that first time absolute screamer.

"Transition" is the word I was trying to come up with. He's looked slow on transition, macro and micro. If the play is boom-boom... And a lot of concacaf can be like that... he's a beat behind reacting to it.

Yeah, he's not a shuttler. Adams really isn't either to be honest, but he does tend to maybe get rid of the ball quicker. We definitely have more depth in midfield than in any time I can remember, but it's kind of weird in that there isn't a ton of overlap in the skillsets. Tillman kind of feels like a cross between Reyna and Weston. Jonny and Adams feel like a pick em on whether you value dynamism at the six or polish. There's not really another ball progression wizard like Musa unless you ask Nagbe to join the Avengers initiative again. Weston is killing it as a mezzala, but that's a role that doesn't exist in Gregg's system.

Ldlt has similar skill set as Musah

So how do we get the most out of Weston if we were to tweak GGG's 4-3-3 (whether he uses a 4-1-2-3 when Adams is healthy, or a 4-2-1-3 when his not)? Do not feel tied to using a form of 4-3-3. I am desperate for something different.

IMO Weston has been our best player over the entire season. Pulisic has also been very good but not quite as consistent. We need to structure around both of them being on the field. I feel like Pulisic can function where ever we put him, but I want to replicate what Weston is doing for Juventus when he is with the nats.

I'm pretty sure Swag is playing the same role for Juve he does for the US... Attacking CM in the 2. And CP will play the same role as Milan, just on his preferred left wing.

For me it's still who plays the 6 and who plays next to Swag. And how does the team go rt their 9 more involved.

We have the guys to play next to Swag in Musah, LdLT, Tillman, maybe Gio.

By all accounts, Maloney has been having a solid bundi season at the 6 or CB... Maybe similar to Richards. What I watched of the Betis game today, Johny seems to have a bit of MF defensive help and wasn't ever isolated the way out 6 usually is. That and his inability to transition well makes me uncertain about him. I'd love for Musah to get on the field more to play the 6 for Milan and really grow that part of his game... But it ain't happening.

More from the 9? Bleh.
