US Men's National Team (9 Viewers)

There is a decent chance the Revs reject this but still......hands off!!

Taylor Twellman said on the broadcast that Noel Buck will be called up to an England U-18 camp soon
Payback for Balogun
I realize Buck came on kind of late but he really could have been a part of this U20 WC team with no issues at all at the level he is playing. That would have least youth capped tied him and forced him into using a one time switch. Now he is free to sample what ever he wants.

As always, the good news is that England should have a ton of midfielders to compete with, similar to what Balogun and Musah faced when they had to decide.

*as expected, neither Ream or Adams on the roster due to injury.

*Neither Steffen or Horvath (edit turns out they are hurt)

*In a change from rostering every RB on the planet, only 3 fullbacks are listed (Scally, Dest, Jedi)

* Reyna listed with the midfielder group so I think if they go with 2 holding midfielders, Reyna may be the 3rd at the top of the triangle.

For those unfamiliar with Cohen, he has taken the unusual path to the National Team by playing in Israel and even got some Champions League time this season.

So probably looking at something like this:

Turner
Dest Zimmerman Robinson Jedi

de la Torre McKennie
Reyna

Weah Balogun Pulisic

Adams really is the straw that stirs the drink and allows us to be so much more attacking in the mid-field.

I don't get the 4 GKs but my guess is we cut one (I think it's a 23 man limit). I do love that Josh Cohen got called. I don't think he's the future or anything (obviously), but he deserves the call based on his UCL performance alone and I love seeing a guy that grinded get rewarded after all these years.

Defenders I'm just stunned that their are only 2 Right Backs. Luckily we have Chris Richards and Tim Weah as backups because this seems quite risky to carry fewer than 4 for these two matches.

Hate the midfield. I don't mind giving Johnny a run in Gold Cup or even Alan Sonora, but there are better options (Aidan Morris, Tim Tillman, Djordje Mahailovic) IMO. Those are spots that actually might play too (unlike my RB crack).

Love the attacking group. I'd have left Aaronson off (probably for an actual LB backup) but I can't even quibble with the rest.

U.S U-20’s are getting the type of game they want from Uruguay - The Gambia. It’s 0-0 at HT. Both teams with a red card, it’s physical and back and forth. 45 minutes from going 120. The U.S gets the winner on Sunday
Warched the 2 min fifa highlight package. Notably, at the whistle they chose to include footage after the final whistle of both teams laying on the ground looking gassed. eT wouldve been even better, but 10 men pushed hard for 90 is ok too (I think Uruguay's red was somewhere in the 60s). Uruguay's goal was a screamer, btw.

The Uruguay red card was just before halftime. He is their #9 who scored a lot in qualifying but has not scored yet in the WC.

Old friend Wondo had a hat trick today for Team Dempsey which seems stacked :)

Loving the regional diversity of the final 8 in the u20 wc. Only Oceania not repped, but NZ made the sweet 16.

One of the reasons the FIFA youth tournaments knockout rounds are almost always more diverse is because the number of countries from each region is much more balanced than the senior world cup.

They still have to advance. Don't remember any final 8 with this kind of spread... Maybe WC 02?

good for him. They obviously see something I don't in his value....

Not only did Rangers have a £7 million bid rejected by Antalyaspor for Haji Wright, but La Liga side Villarreal's £8.7m bid was also rejected. Wright definitely on the radar of many teams, but sounds like Antalyaspor wants at least £10 million to start

this is getting a bit silly now.......A hexa nat

Joshua N.

@SMadeforu

Gabriel Han Willhoft-King is an 17 year old CDM at Tottenham Hotspurs U18’s.

He has eligibility for the U.S., England, Germany, China, Indonesia, & India.

He’s listed as one of the 20 best talents at Premier League clubs by the @guardian

Interesting. I wonder what the back story is there.
"What do you get when two tri-nats go on a date?"

it is not official yet but we can safely add Bello to the players who are getting relegated list. His team lost 4-0 in the first leg of the relegation playoffs in Germany yesterday. Bello played the last 15 minutes of the game.

Dempsey on some coaching topics

====================

On the USMNT coach

"If you look at the teams at the World Cup that did well and got to the knockout rounds, I think 15 of the 16 teams were domestic coaches. "

"I don’t think it’s good to go interim to interim, in my opinion. It’s unfortunate the situation that happened with (former USMNT coach Gregg) Berhalter. I think he’s still in line for the job and I think he did a great job at the World Cup."

On the mess in Toronto with the issue with the Bradley's

"That dynamic of father and son on a team, it’s just something you’re going to deal with." "I think no matter what, even if you handled the situation perfectly, it would’ve been an issue." "All I can say is that we had some good years playing with the national team together." "It’s about winning at the end of the day."

I’m sure it’s a little frustrating for Mikey Varas & the U.S U-20 team to see Paxten Aaronson denied a release for the U-20 World Cup and then go as an unused substitute for the German Cup final today as his Eintracht Frankfurt team fell to RB Leipzig 2-0

Israel just beat Brazil in ET.

If the US handles business tomorrow, things couldn't have lined up any better
it was 1-1 heading into ET. 3 goals in ET.

Brazil went head 2-1 in ET.

Get this, Israel not only scored twice in ET, they missed back to back pk's (these were after they took the 3-2 lead)! :)

Sounds like Zimm had a really bad game today. He was subbed out at the 58th minute, with the game tied. Unsure if he is injured or what is going on.
