Haji Wright came real close to scoring on his Coventry debut. Deflected shot barely tipped by keeper onto the crossbar.

wow that was really nice from the big guy. That was a tough angle on the rebound but still a good chance to give Coventry the lead. They ended up losing it looks like 2-1.
Wait... 😆 Was it haji on the break or haji on the rebound?

Unless Haji changed skin color, he was the guy who hit the cross bar :)

I was just adding extra commentary on the rebound because of the score line and eventual finish to the game.

😂 on my phone (and with my eyesight) everybody looks the same

Chelsea looks a little more attractive at the moment for Adams with Leeds down 2-0 at home to Cardiff at the half.

@ManagerTactical
“Leeds United starting off their EFL Championship campaign down 2-0 against Cardiff at halftime while playing at home.

Rumor has it that their English 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 fans are frustrated with the board, as they currently have no Americans 🇺🇸 on the field to blame.”

I mean it is true that Weston and Aaronson were not good for Leeds last year, but given that almost the entire team sucked (Bamford was the real cause of the drop missing sitter after sitter), and that the Yanks were almost solely blamed by the fans (not Adams) makes it very easy to laugh at them if Weston and Aaronson do well this season away from them.

I'm not sure why everyone is so sensitive about this. Their fans blamed all the players, the managers, Victor Orta, and the board. Pretending this is some anti-American bias is silly.

They woefully underachieved. Not surprising at all that players who were part of their promotion campaign and had built up goodwill got less harsh treatment. That's the way the world works.

I only half joke here of course. I know their fans were unhappy with many but the American's (outside of Adams) received massive abuse online from their fans.

I noticed Gio is still not dressing for Dortmund. How worried should we be that he might just be too injury prone to ever become the player we hoped for? He is still young but the years are starting to tick by...

"Saw several comments calling Bamford a ****, a rat ******* etc, it’s just over the line. He’s a person at the end of the day and as far as I can see has always given his best effort on the pitch and done whatever he could to get a result. He’s Leeds, we’re Leeds, stop ****ing abusing our own players (note, abuse different to criticism)." - this is from February Reddit thread.

I think the idea that American players were singled out is confirmation bias. Most in this thread only follow the Americans and see they immature attacks but don't see how all the players on relegation sides are treated. It hasn't been a lot of fun being Leeds or Everton players the last few years. It's angry and it's ugly. -- especially at well supported clubs that expect better.

Well, when I sign for an EPL team it'll be top half of the table or better. I hate the abuse that I see ger heaped on players if the team is relegated

Speaking only for myself, I posted a tweet joke because I thought it was kind of funny, not because of I’m sensitive or thinking of anything beyond that.

Ok, that’s what I thought but that’s what I said so was confused 😀

Sorry I think I may have misunderstood your initial post. I thought you were saying our CURRENT guys aren't on top teams because they're not good enough. In that case I was just saying Milan/Milan/Fulham/Fulham/PSV/PSV/Dortmund/Juve/etc may not be Barca/RM/Bayern/Man U/etc but they're still better than the teams the '94 guys were playing on at the time.

But sounds like you were initially referring to the '94 guys not being on top teams, not the current guys.

Yep, and sorry I wasn’t more clear. Our current guys are getting runs in some of the biggest clubs in the world. Those guys didn’t and a big factor being they were not good enough.

but they're still better than the teams the '94 guys were playing on at the time.
Those US players had no shot at all of playing on top teams, regardless of their abilities- there was distinct bias. A bunch of those guys in this era would be playing on similar teams.

I disagree it was no shot. Highly unlikely sure and definite bias but if they were good enough they would have gotten chances and then if they proved themselves more chances. Totally acknowledge it’s so much easier today.

on top of the anti-US bias (due to zero precedent of top players), I'm pretty sure there were rules in the big leagues in place to have limits on the amount foreign players on rosters... something like 3.

Lots of extra time in the Championship this weekend, @guru_007 was right. Leeds tied it up in the 96th minute, and Sunderland were able to make a sub at 90 + 11. We're gonna see a ton of late goals

that is mostly correct (some leagues had more restrictions that others but it was NOTHING like today in terms of foreign players in leagues).

This was also pre-Bosman. Player movement and squad make up was nothing like we know it today. It is very hard to compare.

Yup. I hit a nice 3 team parlay (full coverage) on today's games taking the O2.5 in each.

I wonder if the bookies will catch on and reduce the odds and if the same effect will be seen in the premier league.

By the way, does anyone know how long Concacaf's deal with Qatar is to keep including them in Concacaf competitions? I assume it is tied to some sort of sponsorship deal.

Maybe they see him as depth and don't want to give that up.

I mentioned that Jesus is starting the season on the DL... In the absence of new attacking signings, they could use him.

I don't think Balo did himself any favors by rejecting all loan options. That's still likely his best choice right now.

They are not even dressing him or letting him train with the main squad. I don't think they have any interest in him nor do I think Balogun wants to stay. It is a very bad situation.

Chelsea are set to step up their interest in Leeds United’s Tyler Adams this week. The USMNT midfielder's contract at Leeds contains a release clause in the region of £20million.
who can tell us who/what the competition is for Adams at the 6 at Chelsea... I gladly gave up following them.
Right now? No one. Chelsea's best 6 is an 18 year old wonderkid named Andrey Santos from Brazil. Kid has skills and is gonna be a baller, but Adams would start over him easily right now.

However, Chelsea is still trying to get Ecuadorian Moises Caicedo from Brighton and if they do, he'll be the starter without question. Given that Chelsea doesn't have any Euro ball, it would mean minutes would likely be tough to find for Tyler in that situation. If Brighton never comes off their 100M pound evaluation of Caicedo though.... who knows. Although reports are now saying Caicedo is refusing to train/play because he's pissed about the rejected bids.

Honestly, I'd prefer Tyler go somewhere else because...
1. There might be a tough fight for play time at Chelsea
2. A good portion of Chelsea fans are xenophobic towards Americans.... especially after Pulisic.

That ManU Hojlund deal really messed up the market. It's just hard for Arsenal to accept 35 million when Man U just paid 70 for a less accomplished (albeit a bit younger) player.
