Weston was a VERY late sub today (89th minute).
Jonathan David started and got the winner.Weston was a VERY late sub today (89th minute).
And Tajon Buchanan got a hat trick in La Liga. Even our good days can’t match Canada.Jonathan David started and got the winner.Weston was a VERY late sub today (89th minute).

What a **** show.Weston was a VERY late sub today (89th minute).
ok, lets do an over view of National Team level players who have various issues and see where we stand.
The Injured Guys
Balogun - Just need to make sure he has no ill effects from going the full 90 this weekend we should be good to go. Likelihood of Sept call up is 75%
Jedi - Next step is to move from a 30 minute stint to hopefully starting. Likelihood of Sept call up is 40%. I would have this higher if I had some faith Poch would not bend to Fulham
Pepi - Next step is to move from a cameo to a 30 minute stint. Likelihood of Sept call up is 25%.
Tillman - He needs to dress and soon. I hate seeing early season being wasted by players moving to new teams. Likelihood of Sept call up is <1%
The Out of Favor at Club level Guys
Weston - He gets himself out of this situation every season via his versatility. He will likely have to rely on that again and wait for the normal spate of injuries and out of form players to get his chance. Likelihood of Sept call up is 95%
Musah - If he does not move, I am unsure what happens here. Maybe Milan playing like crap out of the gate may open up a chance. Given he begged out of the Gold Cup and likely upset Poch, I am going to say: Likelihood of Sept call up is 20%
Gio - As @prefontaine mentioned earlier, his redemption arc is likely to start soon. Whether it is successful or not is unlikely to have an effect on the Sept call ups as they are going to come too soon. Likelihood of Sept call up is 15%
The Out of Favor for Poch guys
Sargent - Not sure what else he can do on the field. It does not appear there will be a panic buy to purchase him from a bigger club so he just needs to wait and see. Pepi's availability will likely have a large factor on his call up. Likelihood of Sept call up is 75%
Scally - He is what he is. A dependable full back who can play both sides well defensively but offers very little going forward. Jedi's availability will factor in here. Although with Dest being effective on both sides so far this season and Poch appearing to taking a liking to Freeman, Scally could once again find himself left out. Likelihood of Sept call up is 45%
Turner - The move to NE has gone as well as we could have hoped. He is playing every game and playing very very well, especially considering how bad NE is as a team. I not only expect a call up, I expect he will start both games. Likelihood of Sept call up is 99%
Morris - Off to an incredible start helping Boro to a perfect start this season, and has arguably been their best player. But his position is heavily contested. Adams, Tessman, and Johnny all may be ahead of him in Poch's eyes, especially considering he was a coaches decision to leave off the Gold Cup roster. Likelihood of Sept call up is 35%
Add any "players with issues" I may have missed.........
I randomly watched the end of both games, so saw him score that 1st goal. Busy player with good instincts getting forward- looked like he fit right in at MLS level. Not even sure what position he played, tbh.18 year old Snyder Brunell signed a home grown contract with Seattle at the end of July.
He scored on his debut as a sub and then scored in his first start (the very next game).
Nice way to start a career

Haji, Tessman, CCV
CCV did not start his most recent game but I don’t know why. I am unsure Poch has ever called him up but I might be forgetting once.ok, lets do an over view of National Team level players who have various issues and see where we stand.

Tessman and Haji are definitely in the mix. With our lack of wing depth, I think Haji and Aaronson (Brenden) might be in competition with each other. This will be an interesting spot to watch in the upcoming roster.
I am unsure Haji fits in this category though of "players with issues". Poch seems to like him, he is healthy and he is playing well and lots of minutes.
Speaking exclusively to ESPN's The Football Reporters podcast, Musah said: "Honestly, I was gutted that I couldn't go to the Gold Cup. The coaches were all disappointed that I didn't go but ultimately I needed to make that decision for myself because I needed to switch off after a tough season.
"I needed that time off. Ultimately it was to take that period off then so that I could be in good shape to be able to carry on now the whole season and be able to give my best for club and the national team.
Yunus Musah has been linked with a move away from AC Milan. Claudio Villa/AC Milan via Getty Images
"It was a very tough decision because people could easily say: 'everyone else is playing, why aren't you?' But no one else is in my body, no one else is in my head," he continued. "Everyone that knows me knows I am honest and a hardworking guy but when times are like how they were and I couldn't carry on playing for that summer, I had to take that decision for myself.
"No-one else knows how I feel and I hope that people understood my decision and it was about taking care of myself and being able to come back ultimately and be able to give my best for the rest of the season."
Musah's club future has been uncertain since Massimiliano Allegri replaced Sérgio Conceição as head coach in May.
Napoli, Nottingham Forest and Atalanta have all been linked with the 22-year-old after sporting director Igli Tare suggested Musah did not fit in with Allegri's style of play.
Banks caught my eye.Pulisic is back
Weston McKennie was not called up for these matches.
Forward Folarin Balogun also wasn't called up, with Norwich City's Josh Sargent making his return to the squad in the striker role.
Matt Turner and Zack Steffen also didn't make the cut as Matt Freese is the only goalkeeper with a cap in the squad.
Interesting....Jonathan Klinsmann (Cesena/ITA; 0/0)

Sad no Jedi but I guess that was likely to not be called
The midfield is an absolute mess. No Weston, Johnny, Tessman, or Morris. Weird to say the least.
Shocked about Turner, I thought he was an absolute lock.
With out context, this may be the strangest roster I have ever seen.
Scoring against Sporting KC doesn't count.18 year old Snyder Brunell signed a home grown contract with Seattle at the end of July.

https://x.com/ByDougMcIntyreI mean.....why can't we just get a coach who does normal stuff and calls all the guys he's supposed to call. It's just so damn weird
given the roster is so strange, predicting what Poch is going to do for a starting line up seems like an wasted exercise but I will try any way
..........................................Freese
Dest....................Richards...............Ream................Arfsten
................................Adams.............GGGLite
.............................................Luna
Weah...................................Sargent.................................Pulisic
While I don't trust that this is what Poch will actually do, it does not look horrible when I lay it out. Would have felt better with Jedi and Weston in place of Arfsten and Sebbbbb but it is what is it I guess.
It seems more and more evident we probably should have just stayed with BJ but every one (including most of us in this thread) wanted a big name coach.I mean.....why can't we just get a coach who does normal stuff and calls all the guys he's supposed to call. It's just so damn weird

Still think it is too late to be experimenting but at least maybe this explains what is going on

Hes a lock, so why bother trying to integrate him to these players and vice versaAnyone want to dissect this one?
Pochettino "We really know Weston. It's not necessary to call him."
I do think what Poch is doing is weird, but I also don't really buy the "we need the team to gel" argument. If the MF ends up being MMA, they will have played together plenty. They played a World Cup together. And I don't really think it's all that rare for lineups to be new for major tournaments. I know that Spain didn't have a ton of time with Yamal in the lineup before the 2024 Euros. And I'm not sure that he was being plugged into a lineup that otherwise had a ton of time together either.Hes a lock, so why bother trying to integrate him to these players and vice versaAnyone want to dissect this one?

He also said this was the last window to look at new players. I don't think it's a major sleight on Weston. But I've also said before that I don't think his spot in the XI is etched in stone. I'm pretty sure he's on the team, but I do think Poch wants to look at options to push him.Anyone want to dissect this one?

I wouldnt be surprised if the last wc was the last time we saw MMA. I dont buy that they dont need time to gel. Granted I haven't been following this a ton, but it also reads like a "I want to leave off all the guys moving clubs, fighting for playing time, or hurt off" and let them stay in the good graces of the clubs.I do think what Poch is doing is weird, but I also don't really buy the "we need the team to gel" argument. The other sort of noteworthy thing is that apparently he was not unhappy with the outside backs in the Gold Cup.
