US Men's National Team (12 Viewers)

Well as long as it not going to go down to the wire.........

Max Allegri has always preferred to try to keep Yunus Musah, despite interest from other clubs, but Allegri is willing to give the green light for his departure should Adrien Rabiot arrive at AC Milan.Atalanta is willing to offer around €25M for Musah. There were also some contacts today between the clubs.

"A plan for every single player"...............sometimes I think Poch is just making things up

=====================

Mauricio Pochettino on if he has spoken with Christian Pulisic since the summer:

"We didn’t talk with Christian. I think we have nothing to talk [about]. I think this is behind us, all that happened in the summer. Now, we need to look forward. We have a plan for every single player. The plan for Christian now is to call [him], to see him in this camp and of course hope he arrives in a good condition, fresh … and ready to compete."

Ready to compete?

So CPs on the bubble? Id like to think he was using these handful of windows to get his preferred guys working towards...something. collectively. And that something has to utilize in his prime, best ever US player CP at the heart of it...or whats the point. Ready to compete?

Coach speak is coach speak. Nobody is a lock. Nobody is above competition. We all know it's ********. But I expect it.

I mean CP still has competition at left wing in the form of Bacon.
Omgomgomgomg

Pulisic is back
Weston McKennie was not called up for these matches.
Forward Folarin Balogun also wasn't called up, with Norwich City's Josh Sargent making his return to the squad in the striker role.

Matt Turner and Zack Steffen also didn't make the cut as Matt Freese is the only goalkeeper with a cap in the squad.
Banks caught my eye.

Sad no Jedi but I guess that was likely to not be called

The midfield is an absolute mess. No Weston, Johnny, Tessman, or Morris. Weird to say the least.

Shocked about Turner, I thought he was an absolute lock.

With out context, this may be the strangest roster I have ever seen.
Banks and Klinny caught mine.

Defense looks about rightish.

MF...yeah. wth. More ldlt and seb? But no musah, swag, morris or tessman?! On a full international break, less than a year before the WC?!! Is he looking to sabotage the US in the wC and actually start Seb, ldlt and Luna because... Hes watched them play and they give it the ol college try?

At least Sarge is getting a look. Downs over Haji is a head scratcher based on form, but i think theyre slightly different positional players.

Between the MF and the GKs choices, I'm borderline furious.
Given the state of GK, I don’t have an issue. The current group is not impressive so seeing if there is a diamond in the rough makes sense to me.

I think Poch is the Argentinian Ted Lasso. We just need to believe.

I guess there are twitter rumors that the 23rd yet to be announced guy might be Luca Koleosho.

I know the shine has come off in a BIG way after his first few months at Burnely, but at least that would be SOMETHING

Still just absolutely mind boggling that he called some of these guys. Just insane.

Excited about Banks. Happy to see if Sarge can remember how to translate club into country form. The other forwards..ok i guess, given the likely availabilities. Defense look decent too...mostly everybody but Jedi. GKs...seeing Klins name immediately rubs me thr wrong way, but not because I'm remotely aware of what he's been doing on the field.

But **** that group of MFs.

I cant believe im longing fir the heady selection salad days under GGGGG
The only SLIGHTLY amusing part of this is watching the twitteratti's, after years of mercilessly bashing GGG, now come to realize that he was not all that bad.

It saddens me to read so many people thinking Garber is picking the National team roster and not Poch.

I had to look him up. I knew he was in Italy, but had no idea where. He is at Serie B Cesena.

Cesena has been slowly clawing its way up the ladder after going bankrupt and subsequently re founded, starting way down in Serie D.

I don't mind experimentation. In fact, I like it! I love it!

But there are too many guys on this roster that have no business being selected. Harriel was called for the Gold Cup camp. He's clearly not of a level for the WC squad and he was totally dropped by Gold Cup matches. What's the point of calling him again when we could see Reynolds, Fossey, or the like (if not the obvious in Scally)?

I think the MF is a catastrophe. It's fine to call guys to see them but do we really need more of McGlynn (who he stopped playing at GC), Berhalter, or LDT? I thought we were experimenting. Call Morris or Tessman, call Pukstas or Maloney.

I don't mind Zawadski. He's not NT quality but sure, let's see some people. But it annoys me that we pass on McKennie, Musah, Gio, Tessman, Johnny, Morris to call in LDT or Berhalter who he's actually spent more time with already and can join for Camp Cupcake as well. I don't even mind if those guys make the WC Roster. But if we pass on Tessman and Morris and don't give them this chance?

At least we know it’s not just US parents that are nuts

========

Borussia Dortmund will keep players' parents away from locker room areas after an incident with Jobe Bellingham's father.

Mark Bellingham travelled from England to see his son's Bundesliga debut at St. Pauli on Saturday, but caused a scene in a restricted area of the stadium afterward when he spoke with sporting director Sebastian Kehl. He reportedly demanded to know why his son was taken off at half-time

Well the answer is easy...the coach is a moron. Pre-requisite to coach soccer. Never understood why the meatheads in the NFL do a better job 90% of the soccer coaches.

Isn't his Dad also his Agent?

We have officially hit the bottom when Twellman is trying to be the voice of reason for the fan base (what is left of it anyway)

Taylor Twellman

@TaylorTwellman

This notion that he has to pick MLS players and hit “a quota” is laughable and not really worthy of a conversation. But that also means MLS > Europe is dumb too. It all depends on the individual situation with each player and it’s been that way FOREVER. Can we get back to assessing each player and his contribution to the NT….and let go of this nonsense?! I’m assuming no but hoping yes.

Of all the former players turned moron talking heads, Twellman has at least improved as a pundit. He is terrible as an announcer/color commentator though.

JUST IN: Atalanta is very close to finalizing the deal for Yunus Musah. Later today, this afternoon, further discussions are expected between the parties to reach - not a complete deal, but at least a significant step closer to finalizing the deal in the next few hours, tomorrow, possibly the day after tomorrow. However, Musah is rapidly approaching Atalanta.

Will reserve the fanfare and confetti for when its official

Anyone familiar with Roman Celentano from Cincy?
I watch all their games. To my extremely untrained eyes, he’s a good shot stopper, less good against PK’s, and average? maybe at distribution. FCC counterattacks don’t seem to flow through him though so maybe he just isn’t asked to try those passes as much. Some of his goal kicks are bad. I thought he was in better form a couple years ago and derived a look at a cap, then had a little dip last year, better again this year.

You don’t really worry about him losing a game for you with some massive screwup, though.

U17 Roster for second to last camp before the WC

* A lot of the "big names" are on the roster including Cavan, Mathis, Hall, Johnson, Terry, Berchimas, and Carrizo

* Looks like Niko Tsakiris has a little brother in the Galaxy system

* While I know most of the midfielders and forwards, I know almost none of the defenders and keepers
This is pretty much our best roster. If we have this team for the U17 Cup, we're in it to win it.

The only guy really missing that I'd like to have is CB Christopher Cupps (CHI). But he's getting real MLS minutes (he started and went 90 over the weekend) so maybe he wasn't released for friendlies.

🚨⛔ Musah’s move to Atalanta halted by Jashari’s injury, with AC Milan blocking the 🇺🇲 midfielder’s exit.

Atalanta are now forced back to the market in search of a new midfield reinforcement - as @APaglia7 revealed.

Worst case scenario. Jashari is out for 2 months, maybe 12 weeks tops. There's still 4 midfielders ahead of Musah on that roster right now and rumors that they're still trying to get Rabiot. He'll get spot duty until November and then be pine riding until the Christmas window. Only real hope is he either finds compromising pics of Allegri or he gets a winter move.

Milan having no Euro games sucks as well, as the chance for Musah to get minutes in even Cup games now will be reduced.

Milan is also reportedly signing Nkunku, which won't directly affect Musah but makes things more crowded up front. I'm not sure what his best / preferred position is but he's played sometimes as a 9 and sometimes as a winger, typically on the left.

I think they got rid of Okafor, so theres room and need for somebody to back up Leao and CP, let alone their walking dead at 9

Pulisic is nursing a sore ankle and may not start the next game for Milan.

Musah has been seen training as a RWB in a 3-5-2 formation that Milan may be trying.

It's not a terrible position for him. He won't be asked to score goals and I think he's got enough motor to go up and down the wing.
He was asked to play there a bit last season. Imo, he never looked truly comfortable, and never maximized his strengths. But yeah, he also didnt look wrong there either.

But we've got Seb for the US, so Musah isnt needed in the middle apparently.
