US Men's National Team (6 Viewers)

That's not a red if you get to the ball first.
Lol.
Sure I'm on an island, but IMO ranking reckless intent....

1. Leg sweeping a guy from behind.
2. Failing you arms and drawing blood from an opponent. Assuming this is what happen and another player was bleeding.
3. Making a play on the ball and your studs deflecting off the ball into a guys ankle.

That was an awful tackle. His shin grazed the top of the ball as his studs went into leg over the ball. Over the ball. He didnt geaze the ball and xome into the player on his follow through...over the ball from the giddyup. Awful.

And i agree with you about the leg sweep and hand to face...just in opposite order. I put the leg breaker as the worst, eith the others as trailing a good distance behind.

Costa Rica needs to get after it - they need a 2-0 win just to get to the playoffs. That group has the most variability right now. A 3rd goal for Haiti would be huge

Honduras can win and advance to the World Cup directly, that’s why they want to win. A draw sends them to the playoff so not the end of the world. Costa Rica needs to win to get to the playoffs. So both teams should be super aggressive.

If the Haiti win holds at 2 Honduras only need a 1 goal victory

So, ~six months out... who's a lock to get significant playing time in the WC?

I literally have no idea outside CP, Balogun, Richards. I assume Adams, but I wouldn't fight you at this point. Berhalter and Freeman seem to have made a great case. Dest. Guess we're really rolling with Freese? After that? It's so up in the air. Jedi if healthy?

Costa Rica Honduras should be a good watch the rest of the way - both teams need to win
Doesnt Jam need to win too?
Yes, but Curaçao doesn’t. Costa Rica Honduras should be more up and down.
Does Jam get eliminated with a draw? Or are they still alive?
They are in the playoffs even with a loss
I guess im more into this game for Curacao qualifying with the draw

I am not sure about minutes. But my guy is a lock for the roster baring injury.

If every one healthy and in form, these are the lock starters imo

Freese (only because Poch won’t look at anyone else).
Richards, Jedi, Adams, CP, Tillman, Balogun, Dest

There is real concern about Jedi though. There are 3 starting positions up for grabs if every one healthy, and likely 4-5 since we are not likely to be all healthy.

Weston, Ream, Freeman, Weah, Arfsten, Tessman are all likely to push for a starting spot. The spot next to Adams is full of guys who are all kind of the same level, Roldan, Morris, Tessman, Sebbbbb. And this does not even factor in the guy who is playing at a higher level at club level than any of them, in Johnny.

I know these are all friendlies but this is the best stretch of games I can ever remember the US playing and all against WC qualified teams. Granted every game is at home so that certainly helps.

If I could watch the US play this well on the road consistently some day against good teams I could die happy.

And it’s not like we are doing it with the same handful of players who are just on heaters. Every camp is chock full of new players. I still can’t figure out how a simple effing formation change at half time against Korea turned this entire story on its head.

IMO Scally is the only major loser from this camp. Not only did he play poorly, but his direct competition is Freeman for a roster spot. Freeman is clearly the big winner. Great sub appearance followed by him playing at the confidence level he has shown all year in MLS, tonight against Uruguay.

Gio is probably the second biggest winner since this was likely last chance saloon for him and he shined.

I really like Freeman in the RCB role. If you noticed, as soon as the US took possession, a dm drops into the middle of the two remaining CB’s, and Freeman pushed high up the field. On defense he settled deep into a traditional three man back line.

I think Pepi is a loser. Didn’t get in the second game. Probably behind Haji at this point.
