Using WebEx for a Draft (1 Viewer)

We use WebEx at work for online collaborations between our two sites and it got me thinking - could this be the easiest way to run a draft?

We're using MFL for our draft this year and the one drawback is that you can't use a timer and NOT have it skip or autodraft. As much as Fanball sucked, at least we had the option to pause the draft and everybody would yell at the guy on the clock to make his pick. Other than Fanball being incredibly slow and unreliable, we never had any problems.

We have teleconference capability, and I can set it up so that everybody can see my desktop. As commissioner I can be logged in and everybody can watch me enter the picks.

Has anybody else tried this?

I did it a few years ago, sharing my desktop while running Draft Dominator. At that point, the FBG site was out of the bag for all in the league, so I didn't care that I was broadcasting one of the tools I've come to rely upon for mock drafting and even during a draft itself.

I uploaded a VBD spreadsheet to DD that had "0" inputs for all scoring variables -- this way, I could import my league's variables without pulling the veil off of how DD was ranking players.

I left the Team Stats, Team Data, Draft Summary windows open along with Draft Status and Player Pool.

Worked out great -- btw, I had a second laptop "off the grid" that I was running a mirror parallel draft through DD so when my pick came, I could leverage DD's functionality.

Everything went smoothly. But this aside, nothing beats using the draft as an excuse to meet your buddies in person, preferrably in Vegas.

I've used GoToMeeting a few times, which I think is the same idea. It's always worked fine. (We draft in Excel in that league and then enter the teams into the FF hosting site later. Usually there are 8 guys together live and another 4 by phone. For the live guys, the computer's screen is projected onto the wall. The guys on the phone follow along via GoToMeeting.)
