V. Young to Oakland? (1 Viewer)

He probably is every bit as smart as Collins.
I think Collins is probably a better QB in that regard. But, every other qualification of being an NFL QB definitely favor Young. The main reason for Collns' failure last year was that he is so immobile that the limited protection didn't give him the time to make plays.

Young can buy time with his pocket presence and mobility.

I've been quietly considering Young to the Raiders, and have really been looking for some more feedback in terms of how the new staff views Andrew Walter.

Probably the ideal situation for VY - a place where he can throw the ball up deep and let Moss adjust to it if he's off.

I think VY is more likely to go through more early struggles than someone like Leinhart. Every QB has to to adjust to things like the faster NFL players and the increased complexity of the NFL game. Not having played in a pro style offense before, Young is going to have a bigger adjustment to make than others. I think he'll make the adjustment in time, but I wouldn't be looking at him to be a fantasy starter in year 1.

I too would be curious what the new coaching thinks about Walter. I definitely think if they pass up on Young in the draft it's because they think Walter can get the job done. The Raiders definitely have needs in several places, and I could see them taking a defensive guy like AJ Hawk or Mario Williams.

Yes, but if Young is there, it's probable that Mario and Hawk would not be.Greenway may be the best option there, but how about Justice, put him opposite Gallery?

In any event, you're right.

Young in Oakland?

VS. Shawn Merriman?

There is a good enough reason to subscribe to the NFL Ticket. Don't blink or it will be over as fast as a 20 year old Mike Tyson knockout punch.

While I definately wouldnt rule out Davis taking Young, Oakland's offense doesnt need a complete overhaul of players. Winston or Vernon Davis would provide more immediate improvement than Vince Young. If they do draft Young, I imagine they'd keep Collins or sign another veteran as well.

If Young drops, Oakland should look at the offensive players available. Young's speed and winning ability will appeal to Al Davis. The same can be said of Vernon Davis's unique physical skills. Picking Winston would allow them to move Gallery to the left side and give them two highly regarded young tackles. I can see them drafting any one of these three players at pick 7.
