Value of Defenses (1 Viewer)

I can't undestand the low values for D in the top250 forward. I've just gave Ravens D and take Frank Gore in a a trade last week and I'm starting to think that I did a bad move...

In the top 250 forward FBG have Ravens D with a trade value < 100 and Gore with a trade value > 1.000. In other words Ravens D value = 10% of Gore value !!!

But if you compare the points they are making every week their trade value doesnt seens to be right.

In my league the scoring for D is:

Defensive Fumble Recovered - 2 points

Total Defensive and Special Teams TD - 6 points

Interceptions - 2 points

Points Against, Total Points Scored

0 - 6 PA = 8 points

7 - 13 PA = 6 points

14 - 20 PA = 4 points

21 - 27 PA = 2 points

Sack - 1 point

Safety- 2 points

Yards Allowed

0 - 49 YDSs = 12 points

50 - 99 YDSs = 10 points

100 - 149 YDSs = 8 points

150 - 199 YDSs = 6 points

200 - 249 YDSs = 4 points

250 - 299 YDSs = 2 points

Is that a too heavy scoring system for D's? Does it explains the difference in the trade value?

The Bears/Ravens owners are 7-1/6-2 in my league...mainly due to the said defenses...if your league is D heavy, your trade isn't bad, as long as you have solid RB depth...

Defense is the only position you can significantly lose alot of points. For example i lost this week by 13 pts and i had Pitts who scored me a great -14 :wall:

The scoring you've listed is standard defensive scoring for CBS Sportsline public leagues. And yes, it's very high-scoring and makes defenses pretty darned important.

I still draft defenses low in these leagues because they're so unpredictable. But at this point in the season, I do look to improve. Even so, a defense straight up for Gore seems pretty unbalanced, unless you're really set up at the RB position.

Edit: just saw your last post. You made out very well. The reason the trade value is so different is (a) they're assuming much less defense-centric scoring systems, and (b) it's not the absolute number of points, it's the spread and scarcity that make RBs so much more valuable.
