Just tried calling for my trip on 1/16. No such luck for me. They quoted me $259/night (same as website). I asked if that's the best they could do and she said it was, then she asked if I wanted to check Bellagio or Vdara. You got a special hookup or anything you can PM?
I have no hookups at all. I just called primarily to see when they were opening the casino which is supposed to be just epic huge. Checked on rates and they basically just spread their legs.
They open up a small mini book there with 2-3 windows, so you can get in line to bet about 3 minutes from getting up from your seat.Seats are first come first served, but there's always plenty of openings. It's theatre style seating (standard movie type seats) , so not really a bad seat there.Bar area is limited, but they have bucket of beer specials (bud/bud light 4 for $5) and the hot dogs/brats aren't bad. There's also restroom facilities close by (to help with the bucket specials).edit to add: VERY active crowd in there, especially when one of the biggies (Kansas, Texas, etc) is playing.
Yeah I personally think ESPN Zone will be a madhouse (and I doubt reservations, but definitely check if that's where you want to watch the games). The sportsbook, as crappy and small as it is, is right there next to ESPN as raider mentions, so bets would probably be easy to make. I was there during the NBA playoffs one year in May and it was packed in there. As far as the books and getting seats, I'm not too sure on yet. Since the games will be starting at approx 9am out there, I don't think it's that big of a stretch for at least one person in my group to suck it up and go sit at a book early at like 6am to get at least one table. The problem is just doing it, especially after a long night. Some sportsbooks are more group friendly then others. Luxor, for example, is just a room of long tables with a tv at each seat and then some bigger tvs on the wall.....so not very group friendly. Stat's post on Paris is interesting, have to look into that.
I called last night looking to book a room during the week for early January. Figured it'd be a good shot to get some nice rates. Got some foreign chick. I am a member of the MGM club or whatever, am considered local, had poker references, etc. but none of it seemed to phase the chick. She cared more about whether I was a member of AAA. Perhaps I did something wrong, but she certainly wasn't begging for my business and it is still way way cheaper to stay at the NY/NY, Luxor, MGM type places.

Had to change it up today. Now going for divisional playoff weekend (2nd weekend). Saturday to Monday. Got 169 at Pallazo with some meal comps and I think gift shop comps

Just me but, I've always felt at home and highly entertained just sticking to the Hard Rock....Place is small but, I can walk around that circle and see the most interesting stuff every time or just sit at a table till the sun comes up.
HR is full of h00rs too. You can't flash 100 bucks without one trying to saddle you. It's sort of a fun game to see how long you can keep one interested without her bailing. or so I've been told.

I get Harrah's and Bally's mixed up in my mind. The book/poker scene in MGM is horrific, and they spent $2030030501051235 bucks making it that many times worse IMO.

The crowd you are looking for will be at:Hard Rock--Think you know this place well, they have added a rock bar in there, live music sometime, and are opening a new club. Plus the center bar is always a good time.The Palms--Don't bother with the Playboy Club. Moon is a cool club, and the door won't be as tough as Rain. The bars in the casino are usually hopping, and late night, there are some real drunken LA fish in the poker room. Palms is the new hard Rock. Much better talent there. Drop JRocks name, might open a few doors easily. Planet Hollywood--This place is a bit of a sleeper to me. Young crowd, the Heart Bar (center bar) always has action in it, and I just like the whole casino (lotta pros there, be warned). Koi upstairs is some great, great food. Great place to take clients. I always have a good time there. Don't bother with Hawaiian Tropic Zone.Tao at the Venetian--Very good restaurant, with a cool bar. Always hot women there. My old roommate bartends there, can get you in the club if you are in the mood. Don't try the club solo unless you are surrounded by hotties, or getting a bottle.The area on Fremont right next to that overhead video monstrosity can be fun. There's 3 local bars down there that have a hipster vibe: Downtown Cocktail Room, The Griffin, and Beauty Bar. Not chock full o' sluts, but cool low-key bars. If you are there on days other than Thu-Fri-Sat, there are some great options. A few of the places have the local industry crowd on lockdown, like Sundays at Body English, Mondays at Jet. XS at Encore does one, i forget which day, Sun or Mon, and it is a must. Every cocktail waitress in town is there, getting plastered. Seamless is great, but Drai's still goes off. It's always cool there. We used to go there first, then hit Seamless around 6 a.m.

My 2nd favorite beer in the world is the "black chip stout" its at the main street station casino down in old school vegas. The name of the bar in the casino is the triple 7 brewpub and the food is pretty good too.
I've stayed there twice. Totally fine.Casino has a weird "hollow" vibe to it, but it is so close to lots of solid spots it doesn't matter much.
VIP passes are nothing. You will see guys on the street offering 'passes' at clubs. They mean nothing. Any decent club, you have to get by the doorman. Either grease him, or get a table. With a group that size, unless the chicks are smoking, and everyone is dressed to the nines, you will have to do something. It'll be tougher at the better clubs, like XS, Tao, Pure, and Tryst. Bank, LAX, and Body English will be easier, but not as good.
Steakhouses:N9ne at the Palms, Strip House at Hollywood, or Del Frisco's by the Hard Rock are my favorites. Cheap tix--Check with the hotel concierge. With the economy, discounted tickets should be easy to come by. The Love show is pretty popular, I dunno if that one will be. Can't help you with the poker room, but the one at the Wynn has a good rep.
In my experience they will honor the passes for any hot chick, then cut all the guys off after letting the girls get by. This effectively separates us from the chicks we want to be with and makes us more willing to pay high prices to get in. So far I've been stuck with 100 to the bouncer per guy at LAX, and like 100 total for 2 of us guys at Tao. It sucks. It's a racket. You can't talk or hear anyone in the clubs anyway. But the girls like it and they are definitely hot there.
Very solid room. Lots of pros there though and the games are tough. PM Assani Fisher, he's a regular there I think. If you want a more beatable 1-2 game I like MGM by far the best. Caesars has a really nice room too that's off by itself and very quiet, but the quality of player there is considerably better.
I have been to many books on the strip with no player props (or props in general). However, I went to a Thursday Night NFL game at the Hilton, and they had props for that game.
