Thoughts on Aria:

We spun thru there pretty fast. Well, it actually took a ton of time to get through their mall thing from the strip so be aware of that. Best thing to do is get there from monte carlo tram we found out later.

The whole city center place outside of the casino is really just a mish-mash of contemporary architectural masterbatory crap. All the recent trends are in play the grey walls and dark wood accents. Geometric shapes next to "nature" forms, all that bull#### that will run it's course in a few years. The thing is if you over-design something down to the smallest detail you never really get the feel that the place is "nice". It's not like the 90s Casinos that would give a central theme which may seem somewhat dated now, but in that concept it works. This will just feel like a 1960s ranch house does today in a decade.

And like everyone has said the casino is DARK. Really, really dark. I mean if you step back from the tables 2 feet and a buddy is maybe just 30 feet from you there's no way he's gonna see you at night. None.

The sportsbook is a total afterthought, but the casino itself is very large and has not bent to the trend of the newer table games and left most of the floor space to the holy trinity where possible. Table limits were very reasonable considering the price tag of the place. I do think there has been a city wide pushback on the 25 dice table. That was not nearly in play as much this time out. 10s were available at everyplace on the strip when the sun was up and only the nice joints pushed to 15 in primetime.

That all being said it's hard to see how that whole thing makes it long term. They are probably going to hold two towers empty by some accounts for the next 5 years. I didn't walk over to the mandarin hotel, but I probably should have as people said they thought it was great. I just couldn't find the damn thing.

I have to think this is it for Vegas 3.0. There was a pretty long period where next to no construction took place and I have to think that's upon us. The capacity is out of control at this point. Really, if it wasn't for mumbai or however you spell that lots of the holding groups would be totally shut down.

So how exactly did you get there (walked from where to where) and what exactly is the Monte Carlo tram? It runs from MC to Aria exclusively?

We walked in from the Planet Hollywood corner. There is a tram that goes from Monte Carlo thru Aria and onto Bellagio.

Architecurally mastubatory is a good way to put it.A lot of strucutres made of glass surounding stacked rocks and free flowing waterfalls, as well as a bunch of other trendy architecture. It's nice though, for sure.I was impressed that their butter said Aria on it.I'm easily impressed though.

Just got an email from mirage offering 59 weeknights 99 weekends for base room rate thru Feb with perk vouchers.

A buddy who swears his wife plays just penny slots got a 3 night free + $$$ play comps voucher from bellagio.

There will never be a better time to get out there in our lifetimes fellas.

Just because they are called penny slots doesn't mean she isn't betting $5 - $10 a pull.

Just got off the phone with Caesars and because of the number of rooms they had me call "Total Experience". Not sure what it is but the woman asked me all sort of questions and said that a rep will contact me in 48 hours. :lmao:

This is true. I put about 100 bucks in a penny slot machine about 5 years ago at the Bellagio, and I got a voucher for 3 free nights (weekend) there. And I get a new offer from Planet Hollywood offering 3 complimentary nights, free food vouchers, and 150-200 in promotional chips.

Lol, all I did is walk through this place one night. I've never stayed here before. I think it's part of the MGM group. I guess just showing you have a pulse out there and you get a zillion offers like this.

From Luxor.

* 2 Complimentary midweek nights & a $30 discount per extra room night

* Complimentary Room Upgrade to a Tower Room

* $25 in Promotional Gaming Chips

* Players Club check-in at Main Lobby

* Complimentary admission to Nurture, the spa

* Special Dollar Rent-A-Car offer. Mention offer code: LUX1

The Mirage offer says to mention the "SLEIGH" Offer when calling in. 45/weeknights 90/weekend with 25/casino credit per day and 25% off shows and crap there. Thru Feb 28th.

I've stayed at MGM and Mandalay mult times, Luxor, and NYNY over the years and I don't get any special offers sent to me in the mail or email.

I do get their current promos via email b/c I signed up at just about every casinos website...but that's not the same thing you guys and other people I know get.

WTF!?

Okay, I need some help. I've been to Vegas 3 times, but this time I'm the best man planning a bachelor party. Here is the situation:

-Probably late July timeframe

-Expecting minimum of 10 dudes, probably end up with 15-20 though

-Groom wants an inexpensive hotel with a good pool (he will probably be at the pool the whole day, he won't gamble much).

-Groom wants a night out at Tryst (was awesome when we were there in 07)

-Groom wants nothing else really, but any other recommendations?

For the hotel, I'm thinking the Flamingo. I've never stayed there, but its cheap, and I hear the pool is solid. We will probably get a cabana or two at their Go Pool, which I understand is "European" style. The cabanas come with a bottle, plasma, and an Xbox and run $250, which seems like a deal. Is the Flamingo a good fit for what he wants?

Is Tryst still chock full of hotties? Which nights are best there? Is bottle service still $450ish for cheap vodka?

How can I get registered for their promo rates? I figured I'd sign up now, but it looks like you have to be present at the casino to do it.

TIA.

do you have a player's club card at MGM?

Check the Mirage as well, their pool is pretty cool as well. Haven't been to Flamingo's pool. it's way to early to call which pool is the one to be at, but last year the MGM pool (Wet Republic) was the #1 spot. Avoid Rehab at Hard Rock (Sundays) like the plague. It's just gross. Really doesn't matter where you stay, you can go to any pool you want, especially if you are getting a cabana. Any pool will do for chilling, but for a scene, you want Tao Beach, Wet Republic, Bare (Mirage), and the Wynn.Tryst is still cool, and is among the best clubs in town, but XS, at Encore, is the champ. If you are going one night, for the best time, go there. Course, this might change by July. Can't go wrong with either one. Rain on Saturday is Oakenfolds night, and is a monster as well, depending on who is spinning that night. If you are there for any of the off nights (Sun, Mon) those are the best nights. XS has their industry night on Monday, and it is the best looking crowd I have ever seen. Every stripper and cocktail waitress in town is there.Let me know sooner to the summer, I can get you in touch with hosts from any of the top places.

Thanks, I'll check back as it gets closer!I'm really wondering if the Flamingo pool is going to be stocked with 50 year old women or something. There has to be some decent T&A there or it would be a flop for us.

Venetian has a cool outdoor bar with TV's at their pool. You will have a TV in your cabana, but it is always nice to mingle with the chicks staying there too. So you could swing over to the pool bar which is kind of like a gazebo, not totally enclosed. You will still be able to catch the games, chat up some girls and bring them back to your cabana. I always miss that pool bar scene with the TV's when staying at other hotels like Mandalay.

sorry, I don't know. Just figured that would have something to do with it. Maybe you haven't gambled enough on the cards?

I have no idea either. I keep getting some pretty slick deals, but they have tapered off to some extent.

:stalker: Was up there for business this weekend, stayed at Paris, never been there. Probably wouldn't go back. Casino and bar very quiet. Venetian and Caesars were a bit busier, but Friday night still had empty tables.

Went down to Fremont Street too. They put some money into teh Nugget, its pretty nice for Fremont!

Ask for offers, they'll give them to you

Nugget is very nice. I was surprised, and the poker room was packed on a Tuesday night when I was there a couple weeks ago.

Checked out the specials over the past day on all the casinos websites and they pretty much suck or end early/mid Feb. NYNY is even "sold out" 3/19 and 3/20 iirc.

The buy 2 nights get 1 free (or 3 for 1) for all MGM/Mirage locations that I was seeing in December were the way to go it seems....and the rates were better then too for 3/18-3/21.

Good times last week.

Ate at Joe's Steak, Stone Crab and somethingoranother in the Forum Shops at Caesars on Wednesday. Blackened mahi mahi was pretty good.

Got up around 6 and ran on Thursday morning. There were a whole bunch of joggers out.

Casino Royale for craps on Thursday afternoon. One of the dealers was brand new and he was terrible. Place seemed a little less busy than usual.

Ate at Delmonico in Venetian on Thursday night. Steak was good. The caesar salad "prepared at the table" was an overlong production and not worth the wait. Should have just ordered a wedge.

Went to Tao on Thursday night after dinner and it was packed. Busta Rhymes "performed" a couple songs. We had bottle service at a table near the womens restrooms upstairs. It was usually a conversation halter when a chick forgot to lock the door and everyone could watch them pee. Seem to happen more and more as the night went on. I don't drink until 4 a.m. much any more, so the flight home was pretty brutal.

 One of the highlights of my last trip out there in April was using the jetlag for an early run my first morning there. Was up at 4, 5, and then at 6 I finally said "F it" and went out, started at the Mirage and headed south.Only people on the streets were runners, people heading to work, and people carrying drunk friends home. Was interesting trying to run down the strip going up and down overpasses and even having to run through Bellagio.Had been to Vegas 5 times but had never seen the sign so my plan was to head down and back.Saw the sign and bonus of seeing a helicopter take off over me from McCarren about 100 feet away. After the sign I decided to run further than planned and was immediately rewarded by finding a $20.Made it down to the outlets and ended up doing about 8 miles.Plan was to jump in the pool when I got back to Mirage but it wasn't open yet. :excited: Showered, got dressed, and headed over to Bouchon for (free from the $20) Bouchon French Toast, was an awesome morning.Want to do the same thing when I go back in April but I'll be coming off a Half Marathon 3 days earlier and not sure how I'll be feeling or how far I'll go.

I started at Mirage, too. I've always run that side of the street, but City Center really makes that a pain. If you go across the street, there's only two pedestrian bridges (Bills/Ballys and MGM) and no hotels to run through. The sidewalks are more narrow over there, but the foot traffic is light enough in the early morning that it isn't a problem.I love the early morning crowd, but you forgot one other group. The 80 year old women that are already up pulling the slots with a cup of coffee in one hand and cigarette in the other.

Didn't see many, maybe they were already inside.Another one I forgot... tired hookers on their way home.

Has anyone been to the Flamingo's pool, specifically the GO Pool?

I'm looking for confirmation that there are several buxom young coeds mixed in with the chain smoking cougar hags. Thanks!

Anyone ever stayed at the Trump International (or Trump Tower) - the gold one across from Nordstrom? I know it's just a hotel and not a casino, but it says it is 5 star and it has crazy good rates right now. Thinking of booking a weekend for me and the gf in February.

I've checked it out briefly when some female law school friends stayed there. They liked it. It's no Hard Rock or Venetian but the thing it has going for it is it's a casino in a good location, which is pretty nice, and isn't expensive - so, I think by its nature it attracts a lot of the mid to early 20s girls who don't necessarily have the cash or interest in staying at a higher end place. I think you'll do well at the Flamingo.

Lol, all I did is walk through this place one night. I've never stayed here before. I think it's part of the MGM group. I guess just showing you have a pulse out there and you get a zillion offers like this. From Luxor. * 2 Complimentary midweek nights & a $30 discount per extra room night * Complimentary Room Upgrade to a Tower Room * $25 in Promotional Gaming Chips * Players Club check-in at Main Lobby * Complimentary admission to Nurture, the spa * Special Dollar Rent-A-Car offer. Mention offer code: LUX1The Mirage offer says to mention the "SLEIGH" Offer when calling in. 45/weeknights 90/weekend with 25/casino credit per day and 25% off shows and crap there. Thru Feb 28th.
I just tried to cash in both of these promotions. I thought I'd be good because I have cards at both places but apparently 1) these offers are exclusive to only those whol have qualified, 2) you can play tons of poker and poker never counts towards your accumulated casino play for these promotions. :moneybag:Looking for anyone with info on the Trump International. Worth it for 135/night?

I dunno. Gold plated bathroom fixtures are a perk. If you are in to that sort of thing.

:kicksrock:Looking for anyone with info on the Trump International. I'll ask the girl, she may really like it. The Mirage for 90/night would have been really nice. Not finding much prime details for NY/NY or the Luxor. May head back to the Rio - I really like the Rio but we're hoping to be on the strip for this trip.

Has anyone been to the Flamingo's pool, specifically the GO Pool?I'm looking for confirmation that there are several buxom young coeds mixed in with the chain smoking cougar hags. Thanks!
I've rented Cabana at Flamingo ... not in the topless pool but the main pool...still a great value for Vegas if you ask me, I was pretty hammered and it was cheap($200 I think). I even conducted a couple of quick work conference calls from there by closing the cabana up. Main pool is nice, usually busy and a "normal" place - service was good as well. Not many guido knuckleheads and the girls frequenting the pool are not bad.

I stayed there just 2 weeks ago, I saw the pool and it looked nice, but I can't help much in the way of buxom young coeds, as it was only in the 60s and no one was at the pool. :lmao:

If anyone is willing to stay at Trump, you might as well just work over Priceline and their 5* list. Not sure you're gonna beat that with a promo.
