Thoughts on Aria:
We spun thru there pretty fast. Well, it actually took a ton of time to get through their mall thing from the strip so be aware of that. Best thing to do is get there from monte carlo tram we found out later.
The whole city center place outside of the casino is really just a mish-mash of contemporary architectural masterbatory crap. All the recent trends are in play the grey walls and dark wood accents. Geometric shapes next to "nature" forms, all that bull#### that will run it's course in a few years. The thing is if you over-design something down to the smallest detail you never really get the feel that the place is "nice". It's not like the 90s Casinos that would give a central theme which may seem somewhat dated now, but in that concept it works. This will just feel like a 1960s ranch house does today in a decade.
And like everyone has said the casino is DARK. Really, really dark. I mean if you step back from the tables 2 feet and a buddy is maybe just 30 feet from you there's no way he's gonna see you at night. None.
The sportsbook is a total afterthought, but the casino itself is very large and has not bent to the trend of the newer table games and left most of the floor space to the holy trinity where possible. Table limits were very reasonable considering the price tag of the place. I do think there has been a city wide pushback on the 25 dice table. That was not nearly in play as much this time out. 10s were available at everyplace on the strip when the sun was up and only the nice joints pushed to 15 in primetime.
That all being said it's hard to see how that whole thing makes it long term. They are probably going to hold two towers empty by some accounts for the next 5 years. I didn't walk over to the mandarin hotel, but I probably should have as people said they thought it was great. I just couldn't find the damn thing.
I have to think this is it for Vegas 3.0. There was a pretty long period where next to no construction took place and I have to think that's upon us. The capacity is out of control at this point. Really, if it wasn't for mumbai or however you spell that lots of the holding groups would be totally shut down.

Was up there for business this weekend, stayed at Paris, never been there. Probably wouldn't go back. Casino and bar very quiet. Venetian and Caesars were a bit busier, but Friday night still had empty tables.
One of the highlights of my last trip out there in April was using the jetlag for an early run my first morning there. Was up at 4, 5, and then at 6 I finally said "F it" and went out, started at the Mirage and headed south.Only people on the streets were runners, people heading to work, and people carrying drunk friends home. Was interesting trying to run down the strip going up and down overpasses and even having to run through Bellagio.Had been to Vegas 5 times but had never seen the sign so my plan was to head down and back.Saw the sign and bonus of seeing a helicopter take off over me from McCarren about 100 feet away. After the sign I decided to run further than planned and was immediately rewarded by finding a $20.Made it down to the outlets and ended up doing about 8 miles.Plan was to jump in the pool when I got back to Mirage but it wasn't open yet.
Showered, got dressed, and headed over to Bouchon for (free from the $20) Bouchon French Toast, was an awesome morning.Want to do the same thing when I go back in April but I'll be coming off a Half Marathon 3 days earlier and not sure how I'll be feeling or how far I'll go.

Looking for anyone with info on the Trump International. Worth it for 135/night?
